Looking at the signature it starts with A H and has two p’s in the middle. To quote from the book “ Students of hieroglyphics will observe that the document is signed by A.H.Peppercorn”. derek

In E M Johnson’s book Woodhead the electric railway there is a copy of the Rolling stock construction order for 27 mixed traffic locomotive’s , the 27 is crossed out and seven in its place . The order is signed by A.H.Peppercorn 14th July 1949. Numbers allocated 27000 to 27006. I believe the last 12 EM1 were named and classed as mixed traffic to cover for the short order of mixed traffic locos. derek

You can see where the design for the EM1 can from ,probably with some help from Metropolitan Vickers. The redesign of the cab for the EM1 I can only find one reference from Edgar Clayton who in 1947 was in Holland with Tommy (6000) while on loan. The NS driver recommended that the cab could be made more comfortable and roomy for the driver with more leg room, and the controls more easily to hand. Report sent 8/10/47 by Mr Clayton to head office (Kings Cross) . Someone must have taken note and redesign the cab. derek His name is Edgar Clayton not Clayton ,thanks Pandora.

The EM2 were designed by Mr E S Cox and Mr C M Cock in May 1948 .Also to use the latest design of bogie as used on the LMR 10,000 locomotive. Taken from Woodhead the Electric Railway by E M Johnson. derek

Station Platform Lamp posts : How far apart?
Derek 19B replied to Blobrick's topic in UK Prototype Questions
In the distant pass I worked for a company that did the CCTV for , South East trains , Connec?, go via . On surveying one site I spoke with a guy from the lighting company who said don’t use the measurement for the middle lampposts ( around the entrance ) as they are closer together than the extremities . This may have changed as it’s a few years ago. Near the end of the platform the lamps are further apart which would mess my measurements up. Derek -

What locomotives and rolling stock should be produced first?
Derek 19B replied to eldomtom2's topic in 2.5mm Scale - TT:120
How about a Merchant Navy in original condition with three green mk1’s. Perhaps say No 28 Clan Line . I’d by one bring back a lot of memory’s. I Have Clan Line in OO in original condition but it would be nice to have small one sat on the shelf. What else did I have back then? Britannia, 3ft shunting tank as my railway man uncle called them never a Jinty that was the 1f, a diesel shutter (08) and the DMU that Trang did. Also a spare 3ft body ,so could have two . derek -
Hi Robert, I have 12 or so all work fine ,I drill a 8mm hole instead of the 6mm in the instruction sheet . They go in easy once you’ve installed the first. Derek

still carries the branch up to the old Samuel Fox Steel works , not sure who owns the works now was Tata at one point. The road is Herries road , turn left after going under the bridge down hill took you to Herries road bus garage , straight down took you to sports stadium. Derek -

Small business exporting to the EU - advice please!
Derek 19B replied to Steadfast's topic in Wheeltappers
Morning from the EU, anything above £15 /€15 can have import duty and 8%vat added before delivery. Just receiving this week from the UK £57 worth of Peco point motors added cost is €18:60. It would help the expats if Hornby and Peco etc had over seas suppliers, I have found a model shop based in Eire I will start to use. Dont mind paying taxes but 28% Vat is above and beyond a Yorkshireman . My blue Merchant navy when it comes ,if it comes, could be expensive Derek19b
