See this from the forums owners: He wouldn't switch the forum off to go on holiday, it's entirely unplanned due to something the hosting company has done. Being on holiday, he can't fix it until he gets back.

Abandoned rails in the road.....(or elsewhere...)
Moxy replied to 33C's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
I remember those rails, they used to cross Fishwick View at an angle, then disappeared under somebody's front garden. I had a mate who used to live in Walton View near there & you crossed the track to get to his house. -
It is off line, more discussions here

I believe he is back on Tuesday, but I understand he has been made aware of the issue, and may be able to do something remotely. I have actually done some modelling instead of browsing NGRM 🤣

Yes, it's been showing 'Error 500' since this morning.

According to their website, that has been the case since at least 22 March 2023 https://www.hattons.co.uk/list/eventdetails?eventid=113 It would appear that they offer the facility for 'Delivered Duties Paid over €150 in value' to France. Are you asking them to do something else which attracts the charges you have listed?

The notes on Flickr say "I don't have the exact date of this this image but I wonder whether it is discernible: the billboard for the Evening Chronicle says '40 Killed in Train Crash'. On 4th August 1971 there was a crash near Belgrade in then the Yugoslavia that killed 35... perhaps this was taken or around that date?"

Never used them myself, but Magnet Insurance have a special scheme for model railway insurance. https://www.modelrailwayinsurance.co.uk/default.aspx Might be worth having a chat with them.

Suggestions as to cause of discolouring
Moxy replied to SteveyDee68's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
That looks like somebody has tried to repair that loco using an unsuitable glue that has reacted with the paint. They have then made it worse by trying to scrape off the glue, and scratched the plastic underneath. If it runs, it's probably salvageable, but if that were me doing the repair, I would be looking at a full repaint of the boiler. -
American O Scale: "Portway Terminal Short Line, MN".
Moxy replied to F-UnitMad's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Definitely second way round, IMO. -
I think they are 17'6" chassis with 10' wheelbase. Elsewhere in this forum, someone was doing a resin printed 16T mineral, that had to be stretched to fit the Hornby chassis.

Don't know the answer to your first question, but membership is up for renewal. I had to renew my membership this morning (my debit card had changed since last year), and I have just had an email to activate my premium status. Maybe it's to do with renewal rather than whether you use a phone or computer?
-
It depends. RCH specifications did include both open wagons and vans that were 17'6". Early wagons of this length had 9' wheelbase, later ones 10' wheelbase. (This is a very general overview, there were different lengths/wheelbases for specialist traffic.) The 16T mineral you have designed should be 16'6" long with a 9' wheelbase. I think making it fit an existing chassis is a reasonable compromise, in the circumstances. As others have said earlier in this thread, 00 manufacturers have made similar compromises in the past, and most people were happy to accept those models.

There is a book on Hibberd locos by the IRS, it might be in there. https://irsshop.co.uk/epages/c06e4627-fbe4-483c-833b-6f5529d3cffe.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/c06e4627-fbe4-483c-833b-6f5529d3cffe/Products/1623S -

Railtec do some NCB transfers https://www.railtec-models.com/catalog.php?search_str=NCB -
The 08 is correctly outside framed, with extended cranks, the J94 is inside framed, so reusing the 08 wheels for the J94 will look ridiculous. There may be some common ground in motors/gears perhaps, but I would hope we have moved on from 'one chassis fits all' and that each will have appropriate wheels & chassis detail for the relevant class. Edit: Having checked, they're not the same. J94 4'3" wheels 11'0" w/base; 08 4'6" wheels 11'6" w/base.

I'm not a 100% sure, but they might be PAA/PAB hoppers for Lime or Alumina https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/prpaa

There isn't a published index as such AFAIK, however, if you have a subscription to the digital version of RM, the entire archive is available online. While it is searchable, it's not infallible. I found reference to one of Mr Townsley's drawings in the letters page, when the article itself didn't come up in the search. This is what I have found so far (given the limitations of the search function, it may not be a complete list.)
