  1. Try this one at BSC Scunthorpe in Paul Bartlett's collection, it seems that it survived as it was part of the wagons set aside for shunter training! http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/scunthorpebsccorus/h6dc0502a#h6dc0502a Mark
  2. These two photo's were taken at Embsay in 1990 but I have no details for them. The Grey one has a three didgit number on the centre of the slebar as per the one at Cambois but I do not know what either one is! If any one has better photographs or know the numbers on the wagons could you please help? Mark Saunders
  3. Pooling allowed for wagons to be available for other traffic , retaining these in Circuit was the result of Liverpool Corperation lobbying to retain these wagons as "Non Pool" in effect a compromise. The argument that they were specially constructed was rejected by the Ministry likewise Fox had his hoppers pooled even though he argued they were specially constructed for Slack Coal with thinner planking to increase cubic capacity. However ICI retained their bogie hoppers as they were over the weight for pooling, Mark Saunders
  4. The Liverpool Corperation Hoppers remained in Circuit working during and after the war! Mark Saunders
  5. In 1939 the Liverpool Fleet was pooled as Hoppers were not exempt from pooling, even though they tried to retain them and the correspondance is in the National Archive at Kew. The West Midlands Electricity Authority Tipplers (later CEGB) which were non pool because they were specially constructed except the first 17 which had doors. Mark Saunders
  6. This was at Cambois Power Station till it was brought out with the cripples to Cambois Depot one night and the CEGB denied it was theirs and so it remained there for at least 10 years before being broken up! This is a to a slightly different design. Mark Saunders
  7. It is the Hunslett East branch that used to come out on the south of the river at Stourton it has been truncated for many years and only served the now closed Oil Rail Terminal, the Tilcon terminal (now Tarmac) moved their terminal from Marsh Lane to what was the Engineers Sidings, later expanding to take Cement. The Hanson terminal has been out of use since Shell transferred all the Bitumen traffic to road. Mark Saunders

  10. Just as a change from Vans but no number! Mark Saunders
  11. Some were converted to Bogie Flats or Bogie Bolsters and used internally at BSC Lackenby till they were scrapped. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bsclackenby/h2136adf#h2136adf Mark Saunders
  12. As far as I recall the last Shipment coal for West Blyth would be mid 1980's as both Tyne Dock and Bates were built for MGR discharge, probably the same for Garston. Mark Saunders
  13. There is a Drawing published in 'Industrial wagons an introduction' by David Monk-Steel and pulished by the Industrial Railway Society of the one that was at Middle Engine Lane.
  14. OOPs slight error on swapped bogies got them mixed up with the similar GERS ones! Are there any PDUF ones left in traffic? Mark Saunders
  15. One of the Tyne & Wear Metro sets is currently in the red & cream livery! Mark Saunders
  16. These were the Powell Duffryn coil hoods, which seem to appear in all sorts of places currently including Dove Holes about a year ago and more recently in to Ferrybridge powerstation with desulpho gypsum for the Lafarge plasterboard works! They no longer have the GPS bogies but have ESC1's on them. Some have been reduced to flats and are in internal use at Tata Scunthorpe and another at T J Thompsoms Stockton. Mark Saunders
  17. Follow the Army, over the years they have sold/left lots of Bitish built equipment abroad! Mark Saunders
  18. From what I was told by the natives of North Blyth; there was a lot of film taken on the Staithes at North Blyth but never used (what happened to it?), the local ice cream man was give £50 to go play his chimes elsewhere while they filmed! Mark Saunders
  19. From what I can see it captures the styling of the sides and end, however the battens on the floor I feel would have been removed prior to conversion. Will it be available as the origial bogie bolster and as PR3000 the low height original? Mark Saunders
  20. The wagons on the internal train look interesting, does anyone else think the second wagon looks like a cut down "Ashworth Kirk" timber? Mark Saunders
  21. Nothing new with the Station being several miles from town! Some are even in a different place! Mark Saunders
  22. Nice to see the top flap door open on the one at the end of the film! Mark Saunders
  23. The first film shows the use of MGR wagons as spacers, so this film is after the withdrawl of the LMS brake van chassis that were originally used as spacers. Mark Saunders
  24. It is not length that counts it is more train weight and brake force for unfitted trains. Mark Saunders
  25. This is the industrial one that was at Lambton NSF when it closed! Mark Saunders
