  1. Did we really drive about in cars like that?!?!
  2. There are some officials available on the NRM website. From what I understand It seems that they were built postwar as for/part of the Governments Nationalisation of the Trunk Roads! I am sure there is or was a Jidenco kit of these? Mark Saunders
  3. Nice to see the shot of the bock train of Stewarts & Lloyds tipplers at Rotherham! Mark Saunders
  4. The original traffic was Limestone from Rhylstone to Hunslet later they had spells in Calcified Seaweed and China Clay ( I saw them at Cliffe Vale ). I also saw them at Immingham but never knew why. I seem to recall them trialled in chipped tyre traffic possibly to Aberthawe cement works! They were all converted from the Load Haul refurbished HEA's at RFS Doncaster later EWS took the Maroon paint to some of them! As far as I know they have never visited Boulby for CPL. Mark Saunders
  5. They operated out of ICI Haverton Hill in both Speedlink and later as Block Trains after the demise of Speedlink, alas I can't remember who the customer was! 6. This is the only complete Chas' Roberts Ore Hopper left it is currently at Cottesmore. A great job the cut and shut on the rtr one really makes the difference and looks good on the finished model! Mark
  7. Try this LMS CCT at Leeman Road it has stood for over twenty years! Does anyone know its identity as almost all trace of Lettering has been lost to the elements? Mark Saunders
  8. This was passed for limited main line running but only between the two parts of the works separated by the BR line. BBA 910000 was converted to a Hot Coffin BUA for use between SMACC Tinsley and Lackenby for rolling but it failed to keep the product suitable for rolling so it was only used for three trips! Mark Saunders
  9. Are you going to build their signature wagon? Mark Saunders
  10. This is a link to a photo of taken in August 1929 of the cooling towers at Lister Drive showing two in the foreground http://www.ntprints.com/image/375994/the-power-station-lister-drive Mark Saunders
  11. The Hoyer containers that worked from Tees Dock to Workington were non standard length ISO containers, the fixing and lifting points can be seen in from one end. Mark Saunders
  12. Ian There is no problem with mixing fitted and unfitted wagons it just means that fitted ones are running unfitted if mixed, fitted heads were not mandatory but would depend on local practices and/or maximum load for unfitted trains! Mark Saunders
  13. These are not 21 ton (MDO) minerals but the larger 24 ton (MEO) version, this is why they have the "yellow triangle" as a simple way to identify them. The same applies to the 24t hoppers (HUO). Mark Saunders
  14. I was past Tollerton today and the grounded van body that has been there for over 25 years is missing! Mark Saunders
  15. This is Liverpool 82, registered by the LMS as 120753 in 1929 now residing at Cottesmore. Mark Saunders
  16. Try this one at BSC Scunthorpe in Paul Bartlett's collection, it seems that it survived as it was part of the wagons set aside for shunter training! http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/scunthorpebsccorus/h6dc0502a#h6dc0502a Mark
  17. These two photo's were taken at Embsay in 1990 but I have no details for them. The Grey one has a three didgit number on the centre of the slebar as per the one at Cambois but I do not know what either one is! If any one has better photographs or know the numbers on the wagons could you please help? Mark Saunders
  18. Pooling allowed for wagons to be available for other traffic , retaining these in Circuit was the result of Liverpool Corperation lobbying to retain these wagons as "Non Pool" in effect a compromise. The argument that they were specially constructed was rejected by the Ministry likewise Fox had his hoppers pooled even though he argued they were specially constructed for Slack Coal with thinner planking to increase cubic capacity. However ICI retained their bogie hoppers as they were over the weight for pooling, Mark Saunders
  19. The Liverpool Corperation Hoppers remained in Circuit working during and after the war! Mark Saunders
  20. In 1939 the Liverpool Fleet was pooled as Hoppers were not exempt from pooling, even though they tried to retain them and the correspondance is in the National Archive at Kew. The West Midlands Electricity Authority Tipplers (later CEGB) which were non pool because they were specially constructed except the first 17 which had doors. Mark Saunders
  21. This was at Cambois Power Station till it was brought out with the cripples to Cambois Depot one night and the CEGB denied it was theirs and so it remained there for at least 10 years before being broken up! This is a to a slightly different design. Mark Saunders
  22. It is the Hunslett East branch that used to come out on the south of the river at Stourton it has been truncated for many years and only served the now closed Oil Rail Terminal, the Tilcon terminal (now Tarmac) moved their terminal from Marsh Lane to what was the Engineers Sidings, later expanding to take Cement. The Hanson terminal has been out of use since Shell transferred all the Bitumen traffic to road. Mark Saunders
  23. Who will do the etches for the North Tynside window bars? Mark Saunders
