  1. As with a lot of things it is the correct use of the words and terminology connected with the lack of understanding that causes such things! Mark Saunders
  2. Does anyone know how many of these 30 ton Tipplers were built and if any other photographs of them exist? Mark Saunders
  3. Does anyone know anything about Tartan Arrow on Freightliner (as per the Triang container) and the CCT (from Lima)! I have seen a picture of a train with containers and CCT's in but do not know where or if the containers were on AB Freightliner flats or VB Condor flats? Mark Saunders
  4. The official of the hopper! Mark Saunders
  5. This is a cutting from a Model Railway news of vintage! Mark Saunders
  6. Paul Alas these appear to be as equally camera shy as the ICI POO's that were working to Cadishead from ICI Wallerscote! Mark
  7. They are Freightliner Cabooses, they were intended to replace Guards vans on the trains but it proved not to work as their use was short lived. They never received ISO fittings due to their early withdrawal! Some of the "Outer" wagons retained the steps for use with these till they were scrapped. Mark Saunders
  8. There are three of the six still in existence one at NRM York , one at New Bridge Yard on the NYMR and the final one at Wilton terminal! Mark Saunders
  9. It would not be unknown for a wagon to be knocked out reducing a set to four or the purpose built Ferry sets of four for the Paris service as the train ferry could only take a five set! Mark Saunders
  10. I find it strange that all the comment is on the choice of chassis/motor for a model in the "Railroad" range! When the most important question would be how does it compare with the real thing and are there any photographs of one? Mark Saunders
  11. A class 11 would make a nice addition to the available locomotives especially as they had a varied afterlife with several users and assorted PO liveries! Mark Saunders
  12. When there was a York crew on the Liverpool it was possible that a Deltic could be used and it did happen! Mark Saunders
  13. Why has it been assumed that if an inland route is built it will mean the coastal route will be abandoned? Mark Saunders
  14. Adam I believe these are the Imperial Smelting fleet of Zinc Oxide wagons 1001A to 1115A which were converted from iron ore tipplers, later becoming ICI Soda Ash POO's two of which now are part of the Great Central "Windcutter" set having come via Rover at Longbridge! Mark Saunders
  15. I think the first two words in the title would give the ideal layout name "Canal Side"! Mark Saunders
  16. How can it be restored for mainline running when it needs a Data Recorder, GSMR radio, AWS replaced with TPWS add on and possibly NRN all of which mean modified not restored! Mark Saunders
  17. The footsteps were narrowed so that they could pass through the Daleks (door openers & closers for MGR wagons) with the arms extended! Mark Saunders
  18. I would assume that as Brake Vans they would be treat as "not in common use" as the freight traffic carried would be parcels/sundries. Mark Saunders
  19. The PGA in Khaki Green is the later version of the livery, it was produced in the original white and black prior to this; this date it from the mid 1970's when the wagons were new! Mark Saunders
  20. http://www.flickr.com/photos/46793466@N06/4306465125/ This looks like a train of the PO Corby PSO/PMOTipplers! Mark Saunders
  21. There is still some (lots) of these pellets at Boldon North jct and at Gateshead where the line goes over the High Street. Not bad since the last train ran about 40 years ago! Mark Saunders
  22. This link goes to a you tube video of Doorman Long 14, a 4w Sentinel as per the Hornby one, just right for your steelworks! and this one being delivered to Skiningrove on hire but which one I don't know! http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7066/6796329316_bf62589bb5_z.jpg Mark Saunders
  23. This was why Tartan Arrow was taken over by BR! That was why the ex LMS vehicles were used as they had stoves! Mark Saunders
  24. Not quite it was to keep the Guards off the locomotive, not that they would not use the rear cab! it all changed eventually. Mark Saunders
  25. It is a shame that Soda Ash traffic in POO's to Partington did not go out through Oakleigh. Mark Saunders
