  1. Just as a change from Vans but no number! Mark Saunders
  2. Some were converted to Bogie Flats or Bogie Bolsters and used internally at BSC Lackenby till they were scrapped. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/bsclackenby/h2136adf#h2136adf Mark Saunders
  3. As far as I recall the last Shipment coal for West Blyth would be mid 1980's as both Tyne Dock and Bates were built for MGR discharge, probably the same for Garston. Mark Saunders
  4. There is a Drawing published in 'Industrial wagons an introduction' by David Monk-Steel and pulished by the Industrial Railway Society of the one that was at Middle Engine Lane.
  5. OOPs slight error on swapped bogies got them mixed up with the similar GERS ones! Are there any PDUF ones left in traffic? Mark Saunders
  6. One of the Tyne & Wear Metro sets is currently in the red & cream livery! Mark Saunders
  7. These were the Powell Duffryn coil hoods, which seem to appear in all sorts of places currently including Dove Holes about a year ago and more recently in to Ferrybridge powerstation with desulpho gypsum for the Lafarge plasterboard works! They no longer have the GPS bogies but have ESC1's on them. Some have been reduced to flats and are in internal use at Tata Scunthorpe and another at T J Thompsoms Stockton. Mark Saunders
  8. Follow the Army, over the years they have sold/left lots of Bitish built equipment abroad! Mark Saunders
  9. From what I was told by the natives of North Blyth; there was a lot of film taken on the Staithes at North Blyth but never used (what happened to it?), the local ice cream man was give £50 to go play his chimes elsewhere while they filmed! Mark Saunders
  10. From what I can see it captures the styling of the sides and end, however the battens on the floor I feel would have been removed prior to conversion. Will it be available as the origial bogie bolster and as PR3000 the low height original? Mark Saunders
  11. The wagons on the internal train look interesting, does anyone else think the second wagon looks like a cut down "Ashworth Kirk" timber? Mark Saunders
  12. Nothing new with the Station being several miles from town! Some are even in a different place! Mark Saunders
  13. Nice to see the top flap door open on the one at the end of the film! Mark Saunders
  14. The first film shows the use of MGR wagons as spacers, so this film is after the withdrawl of the LMS brake van chassis that were originally used as spacers. Mark Saunders
  15. It is not length that counts it is more train weight and brake force for unfitted trains. Mark Saunders
  16. This is the industrial one that was at Lambton NSF when it closed! Mark Saunders
  17. From the original pupose built batch of six Caboose Containers three still survive, one at each of the following, York NRM, North Yorkshire Mooors Railway at Newbridge Yard and one at the Wilton Freightliner Terminal. There were still outer wagons with footsteps on in the 1990's even though the cabooses had been withdrawn at least 25 years previous. Mark Saunders
  18. Nice to see the Warflat B's as spacers/weight reducers. Mark Saunders
  19. The first photo is almost certainly at Heaton with a load out of the Parson's works. Darlington was never third rail! Mark Saunders
  20. This shot is of Tyne & Wear Metro MA50 which is a clone of a LT design it is permanently coupled to MA51. Mark Saunders
  21. They are spreading, the original ones appeared at Pelaw and have just been commissioned from Harrogate to Horsforth on the resignalling aboloshing Rigton and Horsforth boxes. Mark Saunders
  22. There are diagrams available and they ran as sets of 5 with two outers and 3 inners. Except the ferry sets which were sets of four, as the train ferry could not take 5 sets. They were later reduced to twin sets either late 80's or early 90's. Mark
  23. Please remember it was only the Light Locomotive moves that caused the problems with track circuits. Mark Saunders
  24. That is why class 59's had the autosanding fitted with an isolation switch for light engine movements. Mark Saunders
  25. It was found that short wheelbase loco's could have problems activating track circuit as they could get lost in the gaps at points/junction giving a false cleance and by adding the runner it gave the extra length to ensure this did not happen. This did not happen with 08's as they have a long enough wheelbase to avoid this problem! Also it was not till this period that track circuit block came in to fashion as prior most were only berthing circuits. Mark Saunders
