  1. I have a box for all my duplicate/spare white metal parts which throws up the odd gem when I'm short on something. Bits need to be in there just long enough for you to forget what they are supposed to be and then you can think what they might be.
  2. I hesitated in posting this. I decided to paint this wagon as a might have been 1948/49 overhaul. I also decided to 'yes, and' on it rather than fret about it not being quite what I wanted. At the moment it's not what I wanted but I'm contemplating the next 'and'.

  4. Seems someone has been taking your suggestions from a few pages back on board; BBC News - Southern to double services on some routes in Sussex and Hampshire https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-68345915
  5. Traditional for insides would typically be some kind of cream? Have to say I've had a distinct lack of success completing this combination on my stuff though. I think the current green looks just the job on the outside.
  6. Extra image having taken water before going on shed;
  7. Went up today and was surprised to see Fenchurch on the service train to East Grinstead. Something I'd always understood to be beyond a Terrier per the received wisdom. It halled 2 four wheelers, 2 hundred seaters, and the LNWR observation saloon taking water at Kingscote on the way up and had a few shovel fulls of coal left by the time it got back. It was driven exceptionally well by the crew. No histrionics just what was required to get the job done. I did note that you could see from the chimney how hard it's been worked recently. Nothing on the smokebox door though, so it wasn't an air leak there.
  8. Arrrrrrgh! Electrolube. I used to do repairs for a model shop in the late 90's and that stuff was the worst. It just got everywhere and when you thought you'd cleaned it more would seemingly seep out. My HD gets annoyed at being left. Runs fine on leads but on track will take a good few laps to run properly.

    EBay madness

From same seller as I posted previously I think. What did I miss with that final value; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325999282445?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=WSf3swO_R5S&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=uL-JGcPYSsK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  10. Alan Gow banned * I think* white from the BTCC grid about ten years ago and challenged the teams to have distinct liveries. They responded well and have continued to do so. Alas with management by committee you won't get that in F1. Anyone else getting sick of Hamilton click bait headlines suggesting he will go to Ferrari for this season? Of course if you click them (which I never do) you'll find some weaselly wording to repeat what we already know that he goes next year.
  11. That looks really nce. Clearly many hours of work in it!
  12. If you look at the about section of their eBay profile there is an email address and a phone number to contact them on if you haven't tried that already?
  13. No problem with the links. Those old O gauge transfers might work for you and also some of the ones they do for the larger dinky lorries. I have used them and was happy with the results. Seeing your engine in context really highlights it's mass. I liked them before but I like them even more now, thank you.
  14. I would suggest phosphor bronze. In my experience it doesn't work harden as rapidly as brass which gets upset about being bent/re-bent.
  15. I'm not sure of how your models scale out against other models but Hornby Tinplate O Gauge was generally lettered over size (I had been meaning to post asking if a picture of one of your models next to something for scale would be possible). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152453868180?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=m0SyvMLtTJS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=uL-JGcPYSsK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162412991229?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=m0SyvMLtTJS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=uL-JGcPYSsK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Hopefully they might be of use? I fear they may be too small though. Hope you find something.
  16. Well I didn't get onto the tank but I did some testing. Before that I set to cleaning track. Tedious but necessary removing 70 years worth of grime. But then it would have been rude not to clip it together. Load testing went ok but it was clear I will need to add some lead if I'm going to do a dummy unit to run with the powered one. 1 coach was fine, two ok, and three was too much.
  17. Sorry @Silas. It's Dolgoch (Dol-góch?) Falls. I figured out with one of the updates I could have a moving avatar but that probably doesn't mean I should!
  18. I think RB are making grand gestures immediately and then intend to run down the clock until everyone's attention shifts to testing. Then the FIA will announce an investigation and cancel it within 24hrs. They would have already announced one but I see they lost two more senior personnel this week.

    EBay madness

Apologies if this is a repeat but I don't always manage to keep up with this thread. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325998799660?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=WSf3swO_R5S&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=uL-JGcPYSsK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I'd hate to see one they considered to be in poor condition.
  20. I find it harder to relate to non-UK based layouts as it's not what I know. Some I feel make their unusual location enough to justify their existence. A series of streamlined white rectangles speeding by can only hold my interest for so long. But a good layout in any location will hold my interest and I don't ignore a layout because it's prototype isn't one I'm familiar with.
  21. @SteveyDee68 plank of positive procrastination? Although that is better applied to my own desk of doing. Keeping an eye out for green things appearing at the bottom of the page as I recall there were some rather nice ones procured from L&B.
  22. Liam likes trains then...

  23. I was sort of on the right track then only I was using folded paper but it gripped it rather than releasing. I might try some plasticard.
  24. I've been working on more custom sides for the last few weeks. Finishing off some older stuff and trying something new. Today I've got together a test sheet for printing; With that done next weekend I intend to go back to the 4-4-2 and see if I can make it a runner soon.
  25. I have been asked to look at one of these for a friend. Nothing wrong with it other than it has some fluff that could do with being removed before it gets fully entrained. I have looked at the Hornby service sheet and it shows for clips to hold the body onto the chassis and that the body needs to be removed in order to DCC install it. https://support.Hornby.com/hc/en-gb/article_attachments/360016260920 I've spent a little time trying to get the body loose but it doesn't want to come and i don't want to apply too much force (or any really!). Can anyone who has done this tell me how to safely remove the body please? Thanks
