  1. Nice video footage there. That Class 60 with 28 TEA wagons was quite impressive ... Al.
  2. OK, push-to-shove ... I was asked. Excellent quality close-up shot. Bottom of the cap is an obviously smaller diameter than the rest of the chimney - that's what peeves me - just because it's something which I feel should have been picked up and corrected. OK, just my opinion. It's in a similar vein to the Hattons AB situation - should have been picked up and corrected before signing off. It's possibly 'obvious' as the rest is so good. Al.
  3. That looks a little gem. As you say, the ongoing thing I've always disliked with this issue is that cap - the rest looks superb. Al.
  4. Are the axles sliding side-to-side freely enough. Could be they cannot move that freely, limiting movement and the flanges gripping the rails and derailing? Al.
  5. Totally correct. I was toying with which way around it would be - with the typical limited time and 'couldn't be bothered to Google it' mentality of modern life! Al.
  6. They woodn't do that wood they? .... Agreed, Captain gained in active service is the most appropriate application. Al.
  7. Will they change it to "Sir Colonel Tom Moore" - is that even correct nomenclature? There's a Welsh one, now and English 'Sir Tom' !! Al.
  8. Wasn't there a video way back when, on Pete Waterman's track, pulling 10 or 11 carriages? Al.
  9. Ebay, Peters Spares, AC Models ... Give Peters and AC a call / drop them an email. Ebay, keep trawling the pages - new additions all of the time ... bit like busses, they appear, eventually! Good luck. Al.
  10. I mentioned several months ago the need to enlarge the sideframe holes, but after that I had real problems remounting the AB caps - getting them trued properly. In one I suggested they should be perhaps stamped in metal to permit a thinner shaft part. One comment I made was that more purchase was required - slightly longer axles would help and possibly have them serrated or threaded at the ends onto which the AB caps could mount more cleanly. It must be incredibly frustrating for Hattons as well as the owners ourselves to see what is an incredible model obviously lacking that last bit of QC development prior to signing off. Al.
  11. I love seeing those fans rotating tbh - I've read the reasons why to disconnect, but they look so good in operation. Bachmann locomotives just seem like toys in comparison, if you understand what I mean. Glad you agree with my thoughts on the locomotive. I'll bear the momentarily redundant comments in mind with mine - ensure it gets lubed and used fairly regularly. Al.
  12. I have noticed a pretty decent marketing strategy by AS and certainly within the majority of the modelling world and shops, so I think they're doing a fairly decent job ... Bachmann do do a very nice model of the Deltic, so this is not meant to detract from the Bachmann thread and fans as a whole - I'm one of them - love the smooth-running chassis ('though I am looking forwards to my AS Deltic when it finally arrives!!). Al.
  13. If I hadn't already ordered one, I would be in the latter category ... waiting to see. If I really 'had the urge' then I would be trawling the pages as they say - checking what's available for how much, but certainly not close to list and new with the pending delivery looking so promising. Al.
  14. That bit is actually a Hornby 'trick' in some of their locomotives I've found! I understand what you're saying about the tight fit - always have similar problems when I remove the body of my Royal Scot 46100 !! Al.
  15. Would black tack assist in holding it more securely? Al.
  16. Is there a bracket screwed in from the bottom of the chassis holding it - don't know, don't have the locomotive, just asking. Al.

They won't remain squashed - rebuild in progress to return to 'standard' as mainline operation will be ruled out ... I believe. I haven't placed the overhead electricity warning signs, so good point - I have plenty of them, just need 'a patient moment' to place them - thanks for that one. Model runs brilliantly with plenty of power - and speed! Al.
  18. I find all aspects, from initial enquiries, through to repairs clarifications generally more consistent than 'other manufacturers'. Pricing appears 'market fair' as well. Al.

For the renamed 6025 --> 6023 King Edward II in the video, I used black-tack (tackywax I suppose). VERY small slither stretched along the length of the middle then even spread a little to within a mm or so of the edges - it will move if touched, but easily re-aligned and removed if required. Al.

Quick run of my renumbered 6025 to King Edward II 6023 on a circle of 4th radius track. Fantastically smooth, with a real turn of speed!! Al.
  21. A thin slither of black tak does the job - no glue required. Relatively easily removed afterwards and with care, no marks ... Al.
  22. The AS Deltic promises a LOT more than the Bachmann - no doubt. We've seen a video of it in operation - early prototype, and it looks superb. Thing is, it's still an unknown entity. The Bachmann is known, functions well, 'does the job', and isn't half bad. Assuming the AS 55 does the job as well as anticipated, it does make the Bachmann look a bit on the expensive side ... even if it were the same price. I have one on order, so I'm expecting the same as everyone else. Al.
  23. It is one of Hornby's best - fantastic locomotive! Al.
  24. Went totally weird this morning, initially, but now is 100% AOK!! Logged in without fault. Al.
