  1. Update on manufacture and delivery:- https://www.revolutiontrains.com/flasks-on-manoeuvres/
  2. Jo I bought some scrap trailers which came as a set in three colours as in the Ebay listing. They are nominally 40 ft long, and the model measures 81.5mm using a ruler rather than a more accurate measurement. That makes them 1/148. The quality of the self coloured prints is very good, with the wheels, king pin and trailer legs printed in black. The king pin may have to be resized for some tractor units, but the trailers look fine hooked up to Tomytec, Oxford Diecast, and DMToys tractor units. I'll do a few detailed photos later. Mike
  3. Some 3D printed Land Rover 110s with a variety of bodystyles have joined the trucks and trailers in this eBay shop. Easier to recolour than the Oxford Diecast models which are printed liveries on clear bodyshells. 4. Just announced that the Strathclyde and Silverlink liveries have past the order threshold. https://www.revolutiontrains.com/its-glas-go-and-silverin-thepink/
  5. Come back in three months when people have seen the motorised model and I am sure someone will give you opinions on what the chassis will fit.
  6. Eligor make a 1934 Citroen van in 1/43 scale.
  7. Do you have a shade reference for the roof that might help? Comparing the photos of the real thing outside in varying lights with the model indoors under artificial lighting does not seem to help much.
  8. So there is photo of a review sample of the Class 17 over on the N Gauge Forum, and the DCC chip goes into the easy to remove fuel tank.
  9. This designer has a track record in producing buses and fire engines. https://3dprintingcorner.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR0dbTXTbkSqG4dKMUT2B2EFW1aacUB3_Og-v4pLc7KZumplrhc98gaQ1oI Photos of some of the commissioned vehicles are on this Facebook page. 10. Just to reinforce what @monkeysarefun has written, I have been using Sketchup 2017 to produce a couple of fire stations from the area of my boyhood home. I have applied brick and wood textures to the printing file and exported the textured elevations to provide the an accurately scaled printed overlay of bricks with accurately placed door and window openings.. It suited me to manipulate these in my ancient Paint Shop Pro to provide some overlaps at corners and in porches etc. to hide the joins. 3D prints should be here tomorrow for the detailing to begin. This is the country fire station from the 1960s. The roof is not part of the 3D print but added to complete the effect. In the print the appliance bay doors are printed separately to allow for open and closed doors. The stations to this design were built in several examples for Kent Fire Brigade. Using local builders meant that there were variations in materials used and in door detailing which can be catered for by varying design details and textures.
  11. Rather akin to "Hell Drivers" there was a fleet of Fordson ET6 short wheelbase tippers used by Wimpey in their corporate dark yellow which ran through my home village almost as an all day convoy in the late 1950s. The load was chalk excavated at Dover and being delivered to the construction site of Richborough power station. At the time there was no speed limit through the village so the convoy moved very quickly. Our cat, Sandy, used to stroll out to the main road to meet my Dad coming home on the bus from a morning shift. Although he knew his Highway Code, one day the convoy clipped him and my dad carried the cat's body home. A few years later main drainage was installed which in my road required some extremely deep trenches. The starting machine was an ex-war Department John Allen Trencher, but it could not reach the required depth. I then had my first encounter with with a JCB shovel and backhoe - a JCB 3 I think resplendent in yellow. It was driven by a very tall man who had the distinction of being the tallest fireman in the Kent Fire Brigade at the time, and he turned out regularly as a retained fireman in the village brigade.
  12. One industrial site I worked at had a small shunter which was yellow once, but not for long. Mind you it was so unreliable that almost daily fitters' attention with attendant greasy mitts provided an ideal environment for a quick aging job.
  13. Jo Thanks for that info. Should have read the small print on the solebar. Do the HRAs still have swing motion bogies?
  14. The different bogies are a clear distinguishing feature - the cut down EWS wagons having the Thrall swing motion 3 piece bogie and the HOAs having TF25 variants.
  15. Kernow have confirmed today that the Class 17s are in the UK, and they expect theirs in store within 14 days.
  16. On the other hand they may all have been made at the same time, shipped at the same time, and entered the warehouse at the same time, but are being delivered to the retail trade in two batches so the sales of the first batch can fund bigger orders for the second batch. At least they are manufactured, and coming soon.
  17. Were the John Summers artics from the two austerity bodied trailers built by Roe on Dyson chassis and supplied to Liverpool Corporation in May1942? They used Bedford OXC tractor units. I did see a video of the Shotton ones once.
  18. Agreed, as I did the same for N. You might confuse or excite the N gauge followers by not having 00 gauge in the title, though.
  19. It is ironic that today’s price after typical discount from RRP Is lower that DJM’s prices. If DJM had given priority to the Class 17 and missed out on the side alleys to the Class 92 and APT-P things might have turned out differently.
  20. I have created a separate topic for the N Class 17 and Mermaid for those who want to use it.
  21. I think @sithlord75 has done something similar.
  22. The answer to the original Mermaid height is to run them as a trainload with Lima Class 31. Everything should match nicely.
  23. I seem to recall that in the DJM days the DCC interface for the Clayton was going to be in the fuel tank. Might be a challenge for sound, though that could go in the engineers service van trying to figure out why the Class 17 has failed again.
  24. The Class 17s are due for imminent delivery, and the Mermaids are in production now for late autumn/early winter delivery. Coming to a Bachmann retailer online or near you soon. The models are based on ones where development was initiated by DJModels Ltd. which ceased trading in 2019. Some technical changes have been made by the factory supplying through the EFE Rail distribution network.
