    Unifrog?

As per the answer to you in other forum areas, yes use straight from the box & frog switching if required.
  2. Two aspects:- 1. momentary switches to operate them 2. at least a 3 amp supply & ideally use a CDU.
  3. As far as I have read about the Unifrog, already modified & the frog can be left dead or wired to a device to switch it so I guess the DCC80 would do the trick.
  4. I have just purchased it and waiting for it to arrive for me to try out. Ron
  5. John, I use a similar circuit to what you have just shown but one capacitor & basically only two wires for the solenoid. I think it is RMweb somewhere but can't find it right now - I did find a version on Brian Lambert's site but that is running slower than the tortoise. My drawing is the adaption of it & the red numbers are my terminals on a strip.
  6. Australia shut its borders reasonably quickly & anyone coming in has to be quarantined for 14 days, even Aussies returning home - even some border restrictions between States with non-essential travelers turned back. Some restrictions being lifted after this weekend with some shops being opened up again - so far just over 7000 infections & 97 deaths. Social isolation was also in force & still will be for some time.
  7. If you move down this page http://www.talkingelectronics.com/projects/CDU - overview/CDU - Overview.html it shows how the Peco passing contact switch works
  8. There is this system which I have used in the past http://www3.sympatico.ca/kstapleton3/751D.HTM very similar to the original Masterswitch from DCC concepts of over 8 years ago
  9. The Peco PL-26 are the best for that purpose compared to Hornby IMO. Normal toggles that are momentary which you need for solenoid.s do not stay either side but return to the centre.
  10. They do take some getting perfect when on cork or anything like that - with both solenoid & turnout straight onto the baseboard are usually better. I too found they tend to lift off so after trial and error, I have the end where the wires come out, a bit higher than the tiebar end & also slightly leaning in towards the turnout as also suggested by HLT 0109 Harold. And of course have to have both turnout tiebar and solenoid operating lever, perfectly in line.
  11. That is true - with electronics, they can be operated sequentially but depending on layout size & number of operators, there could still be a few solenoids being activated at the same time so a CDU like DCCconcepts or one normal CDU per station is better IMO. They are not expensive.
  12. That is true for a one or two person layout needing only one CDU - be no good for my UK outline layout that has 5 crew & 70 electrically operated turnouts or even Banbury Connections in New South Wales that requires 8 operators. https://banburyconnections.weebly.com/operations.html One of my modelling mates in the Barossa Valley here in South Australia will end up with well over 100 electrically operated turnouts and is using DCCconcepts CDU https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/power-supply-integrated-cdu-unit-super-high-power/ and he has a large diode matrix to be able to switch 6 turnouts at once. https://www.dccconcepts.com/manual/cdu-2-mains-powered-super-high-energy-dual-output-capacitor-discharge-unit/
  13. I got the video OK but as most of mine are solenoids or manual, I didn't go any further. No doubt others who use servos will respond soon.
  14. I use Tam Valley as there was no room to fit motors below nor did I want to have them on top with some long throw rods going under from 1 to 6 tracks so I used Peco side mounted motors that just fitted in between the ladder of turnouts and baseboard edge.
  15. Are the turnouts Insul or Electrofrog? If Electro, then you need an insulator in both frog rails of A to start with.
  16. same as TV update for any news, not an update but the previous headlines repeated. To me update means this is later news to what was advised an hour or so ago.
  17. I also fell into that trap as I didn't create a gap on copper underneath like it is done on the top .
  18. I am sure they work that way for Setrack but not aware they clip under normal Streamline. These are fitted to Code 75, you can't see the pins now that ballast has happened
  19. The Peco sidemounted PL-11 are fitted next to the turnouts & the operating lever has a hole to fit over the pin on the tiebar. You don't clip them to the slip but pin them down thru the small holes. I used them on 3 slips no problems and I will get a photo tomorrow.
  20. Not sure if this is the right place for this but it is sobering
  21. 6 wire flat to be used for the first cab plugged into the correct socket, all other cabs must use 4 wire curly cord as described in the Powercab manual.
  22. I would pose your problem direct with DCCconcepts
  23. Yes Episode 9 was not as good IMO as some of the other episodes.
  24. Beaches are being closed in Australia as people are not taking notisce of the numbers ( 500) allowed outside in public areas or social distancing of 1.5m between people.
