GWR abandons Class 769 introduction - why?
Rich_F replied to KeithMacdonald's topic in UK Prototype Questions
Third rail (predictably) revealed by Network Rail & DfT for the seemingly inevitable Uckfield electrification as well. Who'd have thought being connected to a 3rd rail line to East Grinstead 😆 -
Rusper Road - LBSCR Micro Layout
Rich_F replied to Matloughe's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Looks like someone else has the bug of buying small shelves & experimenting with track plans/gauges! There's something fun about trying to fit a layout into a tiny space & make it realistic 🙂 -
Stock would've also included box vans & flat wagons. You could add some military artistic licence & add a couple of warwells (with a tank) onboard. 🙂

Dave F's photos - ongoing - more added each day

Would've loved to have been old enough to watch/capture the train ferry/Western Docks rail operations when in full bore. -
Level crossing stupidity...

One of the reasons I quit motorbikes last year. Constant fear of it being nicked & constant idiot drivers massively contributed to selling my bike. -
When you're a new seller ebay may sometimes hold transactions until your rep becomes okay. For me it was like 5-10 sales. After that they started instantly releasing money for processing into my account each time a buyer paid me. Easiest way is to sell 5 or so small items to build up ebay kudos then start selling larger priced items.

Graffiti, what is the matter with people who do this.

I used to be a regular commuter on FCC when they used 319s & 377s. The 377s used to be trashed (externally) on many occasions when I travelled on them. Probably didn't help the trains didn't receive much love! -
I suggest you subscribe to Matty Gunn on youtube. He has videos of Alcos chugging away much the same as @w124boblayout would make you imagine.

In a twist of fate, Halden Yard has bought one of my items from ebay! So I expect some of my old 1/76 vehicles to appear rusted up & smashed soon!
-
Do love a good Alco! 😎

I wonder if Go$turde actually makes any money? My gut tells me he's quite well off anyway otherwise he'd be pricing items more competitively to get them to sell.

Managed to grab a 4 piece HO bundle from (yes you read correctly) Rails of Sheffield for my Sandusky micro! 3 x mint boxcars + 1 x nice caboose all for £20!
-
Even before I looked up Coombe Junction your micro gives me Cornish branch vibes. I'm a South Easterner you see, so had to look up the real location 😆
-
Class 88. They already have the 68 model so I imagine it would only require modification (roof & bogie detail) to get a reasonable representation.

Prototype for everything corner.

From someone I follow on Flickr... Wickham Trolley at ICI Wilton Works. Yes you can run a full size flat wagon behind your Wickham trolley 😆 -
You're tempting me do a tiny O gauge micro too with this! 😍

In this case = 'Special Parcels Vans'. I think they were converted from old express fish vans in the early 70s.

£85 for a Wrenn SPV van!

As an East Grinstead resident it'll be nice to see a Thumper rolling into the town again...albeit from the wrong direction! 😆 I used to commute to school in South Croydon & I VIVIDLY remember this unit as 'Brighton Royal Pavilion' chugging through South Croydon coming off the Oxted line in Connex livery. Also good to see Bluebell adapting & buying/using Southern diesel traction. Hopefully this spurs on some new visitors to the line. I'll definitely be walking from my apartment to the railway when the Thumper/33/73 are all active!
-
Probably realistic! Put a 35 t Sherman on a Lowmac & it's likely to bend! 😆 This is what you use to transport a Sherman

I love watching videos of the Napoleon Railroad. Especially with the track condition & the old GP-20s. Having said that I believe they're starting to relay the track as the line undergoes reinvestment.

Boxfile on a Budget - Phase 2
Rich_F replied to Andrew D's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Nice to see the older wagons being weathered & given a new lease of life on your boxfile! -
Are used N Gauge coaches really that much? 🤯 Rocket Railways strike again. Or a class 47 with no glass for this much...
