  1. Confess I can't remember on the motor 🫣, can check when I am back in work. The flanges are slightly deeper than those of the Hunslet, I don't have a 16xx at home to check against.
  2. I can only see this being an problem if we returned a defective model to the customer who then wanted to return it to the retailer, but in that instance it should be us responsible for fixing the model so that the customer has a working model they can choose to keep or return. I can check with the office staff next week but to my knowledge the situation has not yet arisen but if it should, then I would hope that we can communicate with the retailer and the customer to resolve the issue. We also do exchanges for working locos if there is a serious defect.
  3. The copper cap is Pantone 876C, hope that is useful.
  4. I imagine we'll use the same colour on the upcoming [REDACTED] as well as the [REDACTED] that's in development.
  5. Sounds like it's had a clattering - was there any damage to the box?
  6. I think Dapol's LMS bauxite is closer to the Railmatch colour whilst Bachmann/ours is more like the Precision one.
  7. There's no problem from our point of view about contacting the retailer. Usually retailers will swap it for another model they have on the shelf, we still do the retailer warranty repairs that get sent to us from the retailers so they all cross our engineer's desk eventually.
  8. Ours is mixed to be a close match to this: https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/14p39
  9. I know I say this a lot but if there is a defect with a model then the answer is to get in touch via the warranty form :) https://rapidotrains.co.uk/warranty-form/
  10. Did it do that even on default settings (i.e. Address still set to 3)?
  11. These are in the warehouse and are in the process of being despatched now as payments come in. Was a bit of a squeeze with the 15xx pallets arriving 2 days before!
  12. That's correct, no etched plates in this production run. I believe a third party supplier may have been looking into doing them, though.
  13. Kaput is absolutely correct, all models should work when new. If they don't and there is a defect, please tell us and we will do our best to sort it out. Warranty form is here: https://rapidotrains.co.uk/warranty-form/ There may be a small delay this week as we are dealing with a large delivery in the warehouse plus sorting things out after TINGS but we will get back to you as soon as possible.
  14. Thanks to everyone who has sent in photos so far, they are brilliant and we are looking forward to going through them. Please don't forget to send them ASAP if you haven't already - final day is Sunday 10th September! Send them to customerservice@rapidotrains.co.uk with the title '2024 calendar' Thank you!
  15. Cheers - The title's been fixed but the URL is more difficult to do without a redirect - will see if we can fix when we get a spare moment (hahaha oh how everyone laughed).
  16. We'll just have to agree to disagree on that point 😉 I personally (cannot speak for the rest of the company) feel that it doesn't scale well and makes it look plasticky and toy-like. We investigated it for things like 'Lion' and were much happier with the effect of the painted finish.
  17. Thanks for clarifying Paul :) We did have a conversation about this exact thing but the consensus was that if they were markedly wider apart than the wheels on the wagon it would make the OO 'issue' more obvious so opted for OO wheel spacing.
  18. Closer to the time we should be able to show an exploded diagram. I believe that it should be possible to separate body and chassis with a few screws, providing that the conrod screw is undone (since the motion bracket and therefore the vac pump and slidebars are fixed to the body). The colour is from some 3D software rendered from a hex code so I would take with a pinch of salt. Playing with the roughness/light/spectral qualities of the colour in the rendering program can alter the perception of the colour a lot. The colour will likely match our 16xx and the 'what if' GWR 15xx. This is the same colour with different render settings/render engine, for example.
  19. We're proud to be sponsoring the British Railway Modelling 2024 Calendar (due to be included in the November 2023 issue) and we want to see your Rapido Trains UK models! If you'd like to submit a photo, please post your picture below and/or send it to customerservice@rapidotrains.co.uk with the subject '2024 Calendar'. The deadline will be midnight on 10th September.
  20. Everything we make is a limited run with orders up front, that's our business model ;)
  21. I know we're keen but it was bank holiday Monday yesterday ;) Just looking at the CAD now and it's not a 'traditional' one-piece-body-bolts-to-chassis design. This is so that we can offer more variations by splitting the tooling up into different moulds (e.g. 2 running boards, 2 tank/cab combos etc.). The running board is a separate component and attaches to the chassis, then things like the motion bracket, vacuum pump are attached to the running board. For this reason it's a 'chassis' component rather than part of the 'body' The chassis is designed around a single solid metal internal structure to which the upper works attach. It is not a split/sandwich chassis as with the Hunslet. The motor has a flywheel fitted. Pickup is via wipers as with the Jones Goods and Met E 0-4-4T. Driving axles are 2mm diameter. Hope that helps :)
