I'll be disappointed if that's the case. First, desperate for an L&YR Class 25 and the MSC tank. Second, Bachmann did a great job of the SECR C-Class, I don't see the need to duplicate? Hopefully (for me) they have a few projects in the hopper and this is not connected to the apparent railway children teaser. Wonder if it's an O1 (also at Bluebell)?

EFE Rail - Winter 2023 Announcements inc. Southern 'Booster'
Nova Scotian replied to AY Mod's topic in EFE Rail
There was no accusation. But obviously you're touchy on this, you're a moderator and this is your trainset to play with how you please, so I'll obviously shut up. And I don't want to detract from discussions on the model, which I am following with interest. And I went back - the reason I hadn't seen it is that as the pictures load it often bumps the posts up and down as it formats them inline. I had missed Graham's post and for that I apologize. -

It wasn't speculative inaccuracies - I was asking a question. That's what the question marks were about. And I did not see it explained in the topic, hence my opener "May have missed it, but interested in the provenance of this model.". I went through the eight pages, I was skimming, so I must have missed it. -

May have missed it, but interested in the provenance of this model. Is this EFE (Bachmann) finishing a commission that went south? Underneath is it Heljan, or Bachmann, or was it never going to be one of those brands? (eg. straight retailer commission). Went off the rails, sitting around designed and maybe even tooled, but without the cash to move to production? Or have EFE designed this from scratch? I know there have been questions on the 142 (not going into those here!), but obviously with this one there is no RTR anywhere else on the market. I'm sure once delivered someone will dig into the chassis design and it will be more obvious where this orginated. -
Oh oh oh - I'm so bloody excited! I suggested something from Railway Children a few months (years) ago, based on your relationship with Studio Canal and the fact that many of those have not been done. Was it you, or someone else, who had an affection for the MSC engine? Learned to fire on it or something? Rooting for the L&Y Class 25 or the MSC industrial tank. Bloody excited. Take my money now.

Funny - like the OP I also grew up in Reading (I commented on this thread earlier) - but based on the ages + timelines I'm a couple of years younger.

Perhaps there's a way to look at safer 3rd rail for those short sections into Marylebone and the like? Ground-level power supply, where segments are electrified only as the train enters that section? We wrote off 3rd rail as inefficient, dangerous and bad for shunting, but ignored the benefits and stopped development on ways to improve on its drawbacks.

Thanks for sharing these - very nostalgic. Went to France regularly with my family in late 80s and 90s - which would include stops at all the major stations (and some minor ones). Always Fréthun depot (as you could see things back then). We did motorail at least twice, once to Biarritz, the other I think to Bordeaux, but maybe it was Toulouse. French traction was always so exotic, absolutely loved it. I'll have to ask my father if he's finished scanning his slides and negatives. Most of my photos from that time were blurry, too far away, shot on a cheap disposal camera. Again, thanks - was nice remembering some of those visits. We stopped going as often in the late 90s I think it was - just as the Sybics were making their way to the Calais (if I recall they were elsewhere first)

Ruston 88DS In O, By Accurascale
Nova Scotian replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Very competitive pricing, what looks like a diecast running plate, and great detail. While an HST prototype would have made a bold statement 😜 this is a great choice. Q1 2025 is enough time for me to start saving to expand from OO into God's own O... -

Accurascale's First 0 Gauge loco.
Nova Scotian replied to The Stationmaster's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Clearly an HST with 9 coaches available at launch. Maybe they got sick of waiting around for the Dapol 66 and they're going to gazzump them? I would say there's a greater than zero chance of this. Although one of the clues is that it's not in their current ranges (and they took over the OO hattons 66...) What about a class 28 metrovik? Rapido got the n gauge! This would have a tenuous Irish connection too! -

This is what the twitter world were speculating on. Scotrail and TFW (Marches to replace mk4s) were both mentioned. However, some (and who knows how well informed they are) stating the MK5As have too many problems to be redeployed. I need to prioritise a trip over before December - last time I was over I couldn't schedule to be behind a 68 with other things we had going on. Don't want to miss the chance before they're potentially gone.

Update from Hornby with regard to Oxford Rail.

Yeah it was my mistake as I'm in Canada and their site autoconverted to CAD$. -

Oh crap, you're right - it's defaulted to my home currency. I get annoyed when it does that - if I'm ordering from a UK site it goes to a UK address, from a UK credit card. Blackwells, whom I love, are particularly bad for that. My apologies. And yes, $146 is about one decent beer session in inner London... -
Update from Hornby with regard to Oxford Rail.
Nova Scotian replied to Black 5 Bear's topic in Oxford Rail
Right, but the pricing is awful. The image says 100 quid for 150 quid of value, but the price online that gets added to your basket is 146 quid. "Oh look, I saved the price of a half pint in the london suburbs for a box where nothing is likely to be the same era, and I can't even guarantee the livery of the locomotive". This is why I contend their inventory isn't particularly high. There have been much, much better deals on OR (and Hornby) products in past years - 50% and even 60% off as they tried to shift stock. Now we're lucky to see 30%, maybe 40% on a big steamer. This one is more expensive than the box contents https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/products/gwr-locomotive-r3534-and-assortmen-of-vehicles -
Classified Documentation - An S.160 for OO
Nova Scotian replied to Zero Gravitas's topic in Rapido Trains
I was actually joking. I model in OO. I do have some HO for s***s and giggles - rule one stuff. But if we're being pendants, the Roco HO will be more accurate than the Rapido, which isn't Rapido's fault, it's the fault of the scale. However, one purchases the scale that fits everything else you run. Now, someone's going to come along and modify their Rapido to P4 to prove me wrong, and they are far more dedicated to scale than I am!
