  1. Thanks for the idea,it wasn't something I thought of but worth looking into.
  2. Yep sorry it's n gauge now I changed the title and it's old very old,but I like it and want to play around and add detail and tart it up.
  3. Hi does anyone know or have a suggestion where I can get new wheels for this so I can replace the cookie cutter ones. Maybe spares from a current or not so older model or a different company. Thanks
  4. I used track magic on my n gauge layout I found that it ate my points at its weak points. It does say use it sparingly never used it again, did I apply it wrong ?? Maybe
  5. Ok so I have now got it running 99% ok. The front wheels on the pony truck were hitting the front frame rails. I know the purest will not be happy but I filed these down a bit to give the wheel some clearance. Unless you are at footplate level looking up, from my normal viewing distance it looks no different but the handling is and I now have a usable locomotive.
  6. No luck so far I'll give your suggestion a go. If not I'll leave it on shed and take a break from it before I loose me enthusiasm.
  7. As far as I can tell it is it looks just like all the other Dapol locos
  8. No brake rigging fitted it seems the problem is between the tender and locomotive not enough play or movement, now I know why it was on eBay. Just don't know how to fix it.
  9. Hi guys can anyone help me with a bad running Grange, it's driving me crazy,it doesn't like corners it doesn't like points and it definitely don't like going backwards. Is there a secret to making it run well or should I just give up and leave it a a shed queen. The wheel back to back is correct and it runs sweet in a straight line.
  10. Hi guys Does anyone know how to make my normal loco delay pull away so it can double head with a sound loco. Both class 31 n gauge with zimo decoders. I don't know which CV I need to play with. Any help appreciated. Thx
  11. Hi Is there anywhere who recycles old decoder's I have a number of ones that have failed in various ways and would rather be recycling them and not putting them in land fill. Surely some of the parts can be reused.
  12. Hi I know prices are going through the roof even for second hand stuff but I think I got a couple of good buys. In n gauge I bought a fairbourne 264t for spares or repair 36 pound the repair cost me £10 and my time a couple of hours to get it running sweet . The second was 7 brake vans for £40 all perfectly good for what I want, so I don't think a bad days shopping.
  13. I am having problems with my 22,it will start and run for a while then speed up and slow down before the motor getting hot and failing causing a short!!!. I know the real thing wasn't reliable but this is getting too much realism. It greased and lubricated and for the most part works, but I think it is a motor problem that need replacing but no one has one . Any one else has problems with these? Did you fix it if so how?. All tips grate fully accepted. Thx Roger
  14. If you can afford it I would get a better dcc controller,I used a ez controller for n gauge and it was lethal for my locos, it killed a few decoders and a couple of motors. I changed to nice and everything is fine now.
  15. I had this issue with a zen black and a coreless motor I turned the back emf off and it works well for me.
  16. Thanks I'll take a look looks like the thing I am after just to print some brick paper and some info sheets.
  17. Hi I don't know if anyone can help I am after printing things from my phone, trouble is I don't have wi fi or a computer (don't want one) just need to print via. Bluetooth, any useful suggestions will be helpful. Thanks
  18. I too started to have this problem with my hand set cleaned it as said then it worked perfectly. It also works well for your faulty TV remote and other things
  19. If you want to read CV you need to use the program track function, try connecting the powercab to a separate piece of track not connected to your main track something that is definitely isolated as you will get readings from any other loco you have.scroll through the settings to program track and it's a simple matter of following the question enter for yes or 1 for other option.try the quick set up option to get you started. There are seven options which you can investigate once you get used to the powercab. The powercab is easy to use if you use a separate program track or remove all your other locos of your main track and then select program track.
  20. Is one of these rerailer track compatable with peco n gauge track. Shouldn't all n gauge track be compatible.
  21. You can change the CV setting to adjust the starting power. If you can use the program track function you get the opportunity to configure the motor power read it and then adjust it to a higher number then see when it starts to move. Keep adjusting till you get it to just about move on speed steep 1. it should be in the NCE manual.
  22. Depending on what locomotive you are using you can use insul frog points as long as you have enough power feeds for DCC . If using small 4 wheel or 6 wheel locos if you can fit stay alive you can still get away with insul frog points.
