When I was a member of the Dunstable mrc we organized a visit to the dehavilland clubroom on the airfield site, even met Monty Wells, author of many diesel modelling articles in RM, scary to think it was about 30 years ago!! Later visits were to the cinema as my mate was convinced it was better than Milton Keynes Point, never did visit galleria centre
Quick pic from Trevithick day in Camborne, 2 of Luton's finest, along with a mini pick-up, once described as the cheapest 2 seater sports car you can buy, and a mini van, all a very rare site on the roads now!!
One reason is Hornby don't fit the sawn off piece of steel bar that lima fitted to their model, fitting a much smaller weight presumably to give more space for decoder ( and cut costs)which drastically reduced traction!!
A rebuild along the lines of the long gone Belgrave and birstall station may be more realistic for an updated GC , even with the addition of the inevitable industrial estate, but definitely won't be as attractive!! Some compromise will be needed..
Described as Hornby tank wagons, one is 1950s triang, not sure on the provenance of the other, chassis could be bogie from a lima diesel??

Well my model turned up safety at work earlier this week, just need to build the layout for it to run on, in retrospect should have ordered the dcc version, can anyone recommended a decoder?? Not necessarily with sound.. Or is sound decoder available separately
Unidentified class 87 at Cheddington, not sure of date but I had gone there with my new camera to photograph the 86's before they were withdrawn, didn't see any & later found out the last run was the previous week!!
One for the A4 collector who has every one!!

Got to admit to being surprised at the running qualities of my £13.49 caley pug, again from Hawkins, bought as a replacement for my first one from 36 years ago!!
I wonder if they will reissue the Huntley and Palmer version ;-)
This example is the cheapest a quick search on ebay found

I will have to make do with my (£13.95)Hawkins bazaar caley pug!!
I had a similar set for Christmas 1973, didn't have the chuff effect or the triang track of James may's example, only one brake coach too, although I'm not sure the coaches on tv were reassembled correctly
My dcc sound fitted loco arrived safely in Cornwall on Thursday Dec 22nd as a surprise Christmas present,as I couldn't remember what colour I had ordered at railex earlier this year. Very pleased with my red version, really must build something to run it on!!
