  1. There are some new pictures of the GNER Mark 4 coaches on this month's Engine Shed blog: https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/mark-three-mark-four-maunsell
  2. New Engine Shed blog is up now: https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/mark-three-mark-four-maunsell
  3. His e-mail address has already been posted in this thread.
  4. Just got mine out to check the lights and they're the same as yours. I hadn't noticed before, and can't see that the silver details missing from more than about 12 inches away (probably my dodgy eyesight ), so I'll think I'll leave them as is for now. I checked the TFs and TSs and they've all got the silver detailing. On a more positive note, I wasn't able to detect any light bleed through the sides of the coaches.
  5. Received my remaining coach packs (TFs and TSs) this morning. Set them up on a table just to check the couplings were straight and everything sat nicely and they're fine. If it wasn't for the capacitors, I think these are really great models and, judging by @Wolf27's pictures above, it looks like they can be rectified (not that we should have to be doing that though....)
  6. It's been saying that for a while now, hasn't it? The "coming soon" page currently has the 5 car set due in December 2021 and the 7 car set in January 2022: https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/coming-soon?winter=true&page=1 Edit: Paul beat me to it
  7. The "Coming Soon" section of the website says they're due in May 2022: https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/coming-soon?spring=true&page=1
  8. My pair of buffet cars arrived this morning. First impressions are that, capacitors aside, they look really nice. You can't really see the capacitors through the windows on the TRBSs due due to the tinted windows but, and it's a pretty massive "but", I've not powered them up and seen them with the lights on yet. I would imagine the capacitors will stand out much more visibly then. Such a shame. I've been really looking forward to these since they were announced and it's disappointing that they didn't find a better way of arranging the capacitors.
  9. @scouse889 Kernow have got a picture up on their website of the actual model now: LINK
  10. The Hornby website is showing all the coach packs (with the exception of the APT-U development vehicle) as being in stock now.
  11. I'd be up for a full rake of accurate Royal Train coaches and I'd imagine they'd probably sell pretty well. They cut across multiple eras (late 1970s to the present day), have been hauled by loads of different locos and geographically must have been to most places. They also look pretty smart. Wonder if Hornby might already have something planned through for 2022 (and maybe LNER Coronation/Jubilee sets) given it's the Queen's Platinum Jubilee next year?
  12. They're still available direct from Hornby if you're struggling to find one from a retailer: https://uk.Hornby.com/catalogue/collections/apt
  13. Agree. Really looking forward to getting my InterCity one. Just a shame there will be a long wait for the Mark 4s...
  14. There are photographs of decorated samples of all 8 W1s in the latest edition of Hornby's Engine Shed blog: https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/p2-or-not-p2-question
  15. This picture of the prototype shows a ridge running along the top: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_W1#/media/File:Engine_10000_on_turntable_(Wonder_Book_of_Engineering_Wonders,_1931).jpg Not sure about the other line you mention.
  16. I couldn't find any of the BR liveried ones with silver window frames either but did find a Network Rail one: https://www.collettsmodelshop.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/2D-017-004.jpg A previous Hornby model of the Mark 3 DVT (R4435) had black window frames.
  17. Edit: letterspider posted at the same time, I was posting in response to ThaneofFife It's not quite that simple. The 7 car set is the later version with the black window surrounds on the driving cars. This is the version I want regardless of whatever extra vehicles it comes with. Others will no doubt prefer the earlier plain yellow fronted version that comes in the 5 car set. Confusingly, the photographs on Hornby's website of the real train show the later version with the black window surrounds for both sets. The 2 extra cars you get in the 7 car set are an (unpowered) Non-Driving Motor (NDM) car and the APT-U Ex-TS Development Vehicle. If you bought the 5 car set and wanted an additional NDM then you would need to buy the powered one (R4938) that is available separately for £109.99. The APT-U Ex-TS Development Vehicle is £39.99 on its own (R4970). They're the RRPs - you should be able to find them cheaper. Also, the RRP of the 7 car set is £484.99 compared to £394.99 for the 5 car set (£90 difference).
  18. Like MGRHooper said, it's the APT-U development coach:
  19. Is it just Hattons who have been cancelling APT pre-orders (so far)?
  20. That's great news. I was beginning to think that the lack of updates may have been due to a lack of interest from potential purchasers and so Rails/Accurascale had decided it wasn't worth proceeding.
  21. Yeah, must admit that I am beginning to get a little twitchy about my pre-order...
  22. Yeah, it is. The set in the video seems like a bit of a mishmash. I think I can only see one TRBS and one TF? The full 14 car set is supposed to be:
  23. According to the new Engine Shed blog it does: Link: https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/diesel-deliveries
  24. Looks great. I wonder if both of those power cars are powered?
