  1. Hi Amanda, perhaps when things get back to something approaching normality(whatever that may be) you could come over when there is a major show, armed with a list and get stuff back that way? atb Phil
  2. Ah but,the gate should be kept shut at all times, except when in use.Security, don't you know?(see comment above).Perhaps a hut for the gateman and a weighbridge to help keep him busy? atb Phil
  3. Good grief! they say everyone has a double, and that looks just like my youngest brother! atb Phil
  4. Having looked at some other images of security fencing and (very) vaguely from my own memories(over 50 years ago) I rather think the tops of the concrete posts sloped inwards, and the gate across the access line was about 12' wide and opened outwards, slightly more than 90*,ensuring no conflicts with the loco or wagons.Unfortunately, after the passage of time(and distance) the cold store ,it's associated sidings and goods loop access are long gone, under a housing estate, and rationalisation of the ex - GWR Oxford line. atb Phil
  5. You might want to put one in the middle as well,to stop the barbed wire from sagging. After all,we wouldn't want the light - fingered gentry getting in,would we? Cheers Phil
  6. Have a look here,https://coflein.gov.uk/en/site/417213/images doesn't show the gates but you can see how the wire is held by the angle. Hope this helps. Phil
  7. Hi,got a feeling there was barbed wire across the gate as well, supported by steel angle, bent to the same angle as the concrete posts.Dont think I've a photo though. atb Phil will have a look round though.
  8. If only it had been green Andy,I'd have snapped your hand off.As it is,too new for me. atb Phil
  9. I have fetched concrete slabs from a works at South Cerney many years ago,and it was a busy factory then, and it wasn't the only one round that area.Nowadays the gravel pits have been landscaped, and are surrounded by holiday homes, costing in the region of £500K,all built on piles put in by another firm I worked for. atb Phil
  10. Well the black one I've got runs fine,no problems.Mind you I did get it second hand from Andy P..........! And nothings fell off it ....yet. atb Phil
  11. Thanks for the video ,Jim,I saw this on another thread and was quite impressed. As it stands,The "main line" minimum curve is about 5',and the yard uses Peco setrack points which are 1028mm or 40.4" radius, and I'm confident that all my 4 wheel shunters will get round them, and also the Hudswell Clark 060 should be ok as well. Standing instructions in the WTT say that "No BR locos to proceed beyond a point designated as a boundary." This should keep all LWB locos out of the yard and any unpleasantness following a derailment! atb Phil
  12. Cheers Andy,I sometimes wish I'd bought a bigger shed(say 10 x8 ),rather than 8 x 8 ,but there's only so much money to spare( i'm up to £1500+ and there's no electric up there yet,I have to use an extension reel to do anything ) and I didn't want to overpower what's left of the garden. Cheers Phil
  13. Not as such. The Gronk runs well over the" Main line",although I don't seem to have enough hands to work the controller and hold my phone and film. However the piece under the bridge holds a loco and one wagon,so I think it will keep me occupied.Points in the yard are peco set track ,so all the shunters will go round ok.Control is DCC with sound, and the shed is lined and insulated,so shouldn't have complaints from the neighbors. Cheers Phil
  14. Moving on slowly, here we are up to press. This will be the final track plan. The two centre sidings will have to be shortened, and the one branching off under the van will be lengthened, and will be the siding for the coaling area for the locos, and also for the boiler house. I'm going to pinch Andy's idea for hiding the fiddle yard, such as it is,using the works and a large tree or two to hide the entrance/exit.Nearly all the rolling stock is visible,as is the Main line loco. There are some smaller Yard shunters still in their boxes,as the wiring is yet to be finished, but a train has run from one end to the other successfully.I haven't been able to get a cobalt point motor yet, supplies seem to be low.Covid again no doubt. The track plan is NOT to scale by any means, and is just to give a rough idea as to what goes where. What do you think? Cheers Phil
