  1. Not exactly got a track plan as such, however,I've had some ideas floating around in my head for some time. The thing is,being a tad close on space,I've had to build the boards first so I can see what sort of room i've got to play with. Hence:
  2. Having braved the rain everything is now installed in the shed.
  3. Here is my first attempt in 7mm,a shunting plank inspired by holidays in North Cornwall, and living by the Didcot to Oxford line when I was a kid, near Kennington Junction. Boards are of usual construction,2 x 1 framing and 6mm ply.Fitted with folding and removable legs. There are 2 x 4' x 2' 6,and 2 extension pieces to give a maximum length of 10' 6",using the diagonal of an 8' x 8' shed, fully lined and insulated.I would liked to have had a bigger shed but I didn't want to overpower our small back garden.(and i've still got to find the money to put electric in.Got a long extension lead at the moment) More to follow. Phil.
  4. Hi Andy. That small stuff looks like what's used for shovel packing. You could do worse than put some in a lineside bin. Cheers Phil.
  5. Sad to hear about Lez losing her job, hope something turns up soon.Meanwhile onwards and upwards,eh? Bests wishes to you both Phil.
  6. Just keeps getting better,Dougal. atb Phil.
  7. It is possible that the heads are one size smaller than normal bolts.I know the GWR did do this on loco buffers, and buffer beams.I think it must have been a bean counters money saving device. atb Phil.
  8. I think I can only quote a friend:"Not model engineering, but minature engineering"."More like watchmaking" was my reply.A marvelouse job. atb Phil.
  9. That's a bit of a bu**er ,mate, to put it mildly.I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. Phil.
  10. I think outside. There's little enough space on the footplate as it is.(speaking from experience). You may as well make life a little easier for the crew. atb Phil.
  11. That's coming along well,Dougal. atb Phil
  12. Here is a reference in Peto's Register which should help.(see Footsteps) atb Phil.

  15. Go for it Paul. Another thing, the black surround to the windscreen is probably the rubber surround to hold the screen in. Cheeers Phil
  16. I wish I knew.I do seem to remember reading somewhere about recording a load of stuff on a mobile phone and playing it back through a computer and various speakers, but I can't think where, when or who right now.Best of it is,it was recently too! Doh! Cheers Phil.
  17. Perhaps the nearest would be an OB bedford bus,I doubt that there are any of those Austin vans left. atb Phil
  18. You've got to hook those front couplings up out of the way, Andy. Can't have them fouling equipment in the four foot - could get expensive! Otherwise again it's a 10 from me. atb Phil.
  19. Well, what can I say? That's brilliant,Just needs a sound chip with engine and gear box noises and you're away.Pity the poor Driver though,he;s only got Armstrong power steering, and will sweat buckets on a hot day.Seen it,Done it, and got the T shirt. atb Phil

  24. Usually, there will be a braket, either bolted on to the cab support(in the case of a tilt cab)otherwise bolted to the chassis. These will have the female ends mounted on the air lines and suzie, which have bulk head fittings on the bracket. The male ends are fitted to the front of the trailer with the lines going down to the brakes and lights. All couplings are the same although these days there are only two air lines and two suzies.(extra electrics, tail lift, fog lights etc.) The tractor ends,as you say dissapear under the cab to various units (brake valves air drier and so on) atb Phil
