  1. Loose couplings and dodgy buffers I can deal with,iffy b2b I ended up twisting the wheels on the axles while pulling them apart.Painful to the finger ends and very little wriggle room due to the brake gear,but not impossible.However, as you say very poor. atb Phil
  2. Some further progress in between times,also some 12" to 1' has also been happening at Chasewater,apologies for dodgy quality photos. Bridge is a mockup,finished article won't look like that. atb Phil l

Bought a number of Dapol wagons from various places and times,and nearly all of them had the wrong back to back.When I rang to tell them,I got the impression " and you expect us to do what,exactly?" ,and silence when I said perhaps they could tighten up their quality control.After all, how hard is it to have some one with a go/no go gauge checking the wheel sets before they are fitted? atb Phil

  6. I'm sure I have seen somewhere that the coaches were taken to Tivvy every week to have their batteries charged.Maybe a round trip to Exeter would have been enough? atb Phil
  7. Just a quick thought,the speed limit on the Culm Valley line was 15 mph,so I guess there was little difference in the travel time of either goods or passenger trains. atb Phil

Hi Amanda.Those are lashing rings down the sides,to secure the load.Hook one end of the chain in a ring,attach the other end to the turn buckle,hook the other end of the turnbuckle to a lashing ring on the other side,making sure there is as little slack in the chain as possible,then tighten the turnbuckle to secure the load.Simples!
