  1. Will, As passenger rated, would they have had steam heating pipes also?
  2. There was the narrow gauge Meirion Mill Railway at Dinas Mawddwy?
  3. Drusillas Park railway, Alfriston in East Sussex crossed my mind?
  4. Hi TangoOscarMike As far as I know wagons were man-propelled - I guess there were plenty of idle gunners wombling about and NCOs looking for tasks to keep them busy!? The line was used to bring supplies into the castle and to move materials and munitions about inside. I have not come across any evidence for a tramway along the shingle bank from Milford - accept as part of a 009 model I had in mind back in the 1980s!
  5. With regard to military matters, don't forget "Starfish" on Arne!
  6. There was a bit of original mixed narrow and standard gauge at Welshpool - interchange between the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and the Cambrian/Great Western Railway. A short, isolated section remains that served the former cattle dock. There are plans afoot to restore this site as a heritage feature? Andy Y posted photos on RMweb in 2018.
  7. Assuming its not already been mentioned: The Camborne and Redruth Tramways hauled mineral traffic [tin ore] through the streets using overhead electric locomotives.
  8. Would be even more historic if a product of MFI!? Assuming the screw hole was in the right place!
  9. Just to clarify: standard gauge steam locomotives may not pass over a wagon turntable? If this is the case, would the same rule apply on industrial narrow gauge lines - in relation to steam and/or diesel and/or petrol locomotives?
  10. Guess that would make it 'Rare' if not unique!?
  11. Re designs for early railway termini: Don't forget to include coach turntables in platform roads and wagon turntables in goods yards. I would suggest such turntables are an essential element when placing an historic railway station 'in period'.
  12. I have just discovered that Google Street View has gone 'off-road' - bike-cam or foot-cam? It is now possible to take a tour around the outside of Hurst Castle in Hampshire and glimpse parts of the former military narrow gauge railway that served the fortification
  13. I have found that vintage locos and rolling stock with very deep wheel flanges are inclined to strike every chair when running on modern commercial track.
  14. And, alas, no toilets! I believe on longer branches a B-set might be strengthened by the addition of a lavatory-fitted corridor coach?
  15. "Group Capt. Baker: God's teeth! [at full volume] Group Capt. Baker: Take cover! [Baker and Harvey run into the same nearby trench]"
  16. It's SO much easier when one doesn't have to rely on dodgy street-corner brass-pushers for one's supply! Do you have a layout upon which this coach can spin a wheel?
  17. Are these rollers that impress into a compound like DAS? I've seen similar rollers at UK shows but not tried one.
  18. That's a bit exotic, Mr T! What chassis are you using??
  19. Note: Australians are very strict on any import of wood. They impose Biosecurity Import Conditions at the port of entry.
  20. "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" - and RMweb?
  21. "Oh, sir, it was Khan! We picked him up on Ceti Alpha Five... He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds."
