  4. Why does it seem all the wood i buy from my well high street supplier is cut from banana trees?

Brief and old video of mine, its changed a little since then. Will do a new one soon.

Super stuff. There is so much more space outside. Here's mine. Built to entertain my little people but it does have a use now and then.. It can be set up as a continuous run and used to transfer key tokens on my full size signalling simulator <G>

  6. Trying to find the garden railway. It disappears into an amazing amount of undergrowth that one clearing session hasn't touched.

Squirrels have had it away with some of the cabling so far this year on my patio railway. Will sort out next weekend hopefully.

      Might need an automatic gearbox?

    4. Horsetan

      Horsetan

I was thinking more along the lines of a continuously variable one, DAF-style. Imagine if that were possible for a model gearbox!

  8. I've started making a tippler but i'm about to go off and commission a new signalling system. Days away and all i actually want to do is make progress on the model... Ho hum.

When we get in there the locking for 11 is still present. 11 locks the gates normal as well as the up home and starter... No evidence of discs however but 10 and 12 are the main suspects.

  9. Hunting for a Rotaside. Are there any left?

      NGT6 1315

thinks there is a reason why they're called rot-aside.

Ok yes i changed my mind once i got outside to scrape the van. I also failed to get up Sharpenhoe Clappers on my way to the new goods loop at Sundon.

  12. If you turn right and your train is the wrong way round for the worksite turning left and using a reverse curve doesn't solve the problem.

      very much so.

Surely if the train starts the wrong way round, you turn it, it should then be the right way around?

  13. Yay used the layout as intended for the first time tonight. A pair of 20's collected 20 MGR hoppers from the exchange sidings and ran on the inner circuit for a while then took the reverse loop and ran round the outer. The whole lot put back where it started by setting back over the crossover and hauled back into the exchange sidings. Progress.

  14. I love my pot belly stove.

Could have done with a pot belly stove whilst tramping around a goods yard yesterday afternoon... ;-)

It was certainly appreciated yesterday. It also added the finishing touch to the overall effect of the box.

It's been going all day today too. Got a fault to look at later so at least i've got somewhere to defrost.

  15. 10 minutes outside playing 12 inch to the foot is enough.. back inside now doing 4mm

      Captain Kernow

Softie! I managed 11 minutes earlier!

    2. LNERGE

      LNERGE

Most of what needs doing is in the big signalbox so i can wait until later when the stove is going. That'll help the motivation.

Yes it is going to be an interesting read. I did cover the mechanical signal fitters job up that way some years back..

Same here. No beer for a week and cough is loads worse than when I started on the meds. 3 weeks now and I'm slowly just starting to beat it. Plenty fluids, paracetamol and try a bit of rest if you can. All the best mate!

      LNERGE

Seems something is lurking in there. I don't know how though.

    4. Jon Fitness

      Jon Fitness

Yeah..lots of odd crackling and fizzing noises in the chest cavity but when you cough, very little moves. Cough medicines totally ineffective. Only thing that worked for me was standing in the hot shower and breathing in the steam..

  19. Oh God. Man flu has broken out here. We've all got it. 11 month old twins a four and six year olds and Mum and Dad.

Near turned round and went home again. Persisting rain and the prospect of a 12 hour shift ahead sorely tested the motivation.
