  1. I'll just leave this here. 008 will be getting a sound decoder from Road and Rails and the ESU 50344 speaker so both will be sound fitted.
  2. “All around my….. “
  3. Looks like you may have the beginnings of an 80s fleet there! Depending on which locos I put on the layout I can go from late 70s to early 90s and all times in between. My favourite time is 84-85 when most locos were still in banger blue, but the first IC and Railfreight liveries were starting to appear.
  4. It'll be 2 pack paint like they use in the automotive industry rather than the old polyurethane gloss that could also be used on your woodwork at home.
  5. Conversely, I backdated the Accurascale 37419 in Mainline livery and had to darken Railmatch exec dark grey an amount to blend it in OK. The locos I've resprayed using it are a touch lighter than many RTR ones. In this case I suspect the real 419 may have had a darker shade in its retro respray.
  6. I had a good counsellor a few years ago after an introduction to Borderline Personality Disorder, and it sorted me out quite quickly. He vindicated everything I had done in and after said awful relationship and I only needed 5 or 6 sessions to put me back on the rails, so to speak. Good to have you back, mate!
  7. That’s as near as damn it. There will be a little play in the bogies anyhow so they swivel, don’t derail, etc.
  8. Just carry a diesel generator along with the fridge.
  9. They look smashing as does the layout. Makes me want a Railfreight one, but will wait for one that is or can become 56135.
  10. Rails have just taken payment for the noisy, spangly large logo one!
  11. That’s the one I’m waiting for. Got a sound one on order from Rails, but ordered it last August so it’s nearer the end of the queue than the front. I do like its spangly large logo livery!
  12. I’ve not noticed that before but I wasn’t particularly looking for it. Duffs tend to spend their time in the background on my layout as they were common but a little boring in the banger blue period. I still view them as a design classic though, especially after how long they have lasted.
  13. That's possibly it. I look at the Heljan one and think "Why the long face?". If the ledge was profiled downward then it would make the cab front look less tall below said ledge.
  14. I'd still go for the Vitrains one for around £100. Needs laserglaze and it's worth putting a better shade of yellow on the ends, but no moulded handrails to deal with or live with.
  15. I found that out the hard way degreasing the side of my AS 37027 with white spirit, removing the scotty dog and part of the white stripe but leaving the underlying acrylic paint untouched. What a plonker! Nevertheless the gap in the white stripe got masked and resprayed though I keep forgetting to redo the dog. I've used the technique a few times since - you don't make mistakes, you just have happy accidents!
  16. Or the Loram colours applied in the same manner as sector/dutch livery.
  17. It’s a bit like that Porterbrook 47 livery from the early days of privatisation. Rubbish livery, rubbish way to run a railway! At least the 37 is rescued a little by the dark grey extending from the roof onto the bonnet tops. Photo from the excellent Flickr page of 37190 Dalzell.
  18. Looking forward to this and what a great lineup of layouts. One good thing I’ve noticed is the ability to purchase tickets almost right up until the start of the event. This is good for me as I won’t know which day I can attend until the last moment. Can’t wait!
  19. Another picture. I like the centrally placed large logo. https://www.railwayherald.com/imagingcentre/view/383942/LC
  20. I believe it was 56135 from brand new. Built in 1984. This is one I'd get if it was produced. Photo from Roddy McFee's Flickr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddymacphee/
  21. Don't you need to take it out of the box first before placing it on the track? 🤪
  22. Agreed. Old skool locomotive lights were dim compared to most models.
  23. The next project is to finish the re-cabbing of the 304 driving trailer so I can move onto the centre car. It's just about ready to paint.
