  1. You know what he’d love……?
  2. All of my Heljan locos have been fine including my one tubby duff which was bought second hand. Until the Accurascale 37s with sound replaced it it was the loco of choice to haul the track cleaning wagon around the layout.
  3. That’s absolutely smashing! There’s no way I can make it to the Glasgow show, but I look forward to seeing it at a show somewhere in future.
  4. Possibly blurring the timeline a little, but some cans nevertheless.
  5. I love the depth of colour in the maroon. If only WCRC would adopt that shade!
  6. There’s definitely a few cranks at GBRF. I quite like it.
  7. I’m not sure there is. It may all be a ruse to catch Mr.Potato Head or whatever his name is on Facebook! I’m happy to be proven wrong of course!
  8. One good thing about the design of the Bachmann 40 is the ease that you can unscrew the bogie pivots from the top of the towers, sand down and replace as this rather poor photo demonstrates. I’ve not removed the bogies from one of your models yet, so I could be wide of the mark, but that’s how a revised pivot could work.
  9. In its current form, I don’t run trains on my layout as it’s a diesel and electric depot. One day it will have a main line bolted onto it and then that will change!
  10. Whatever is being announced, I’m sure it’ll be soup-er…………………….

I believe the term is “rancid”! I feel the need to froth! 😄
  12. A train set to me is a basic oval of track that gets assembled each time on the carpet or a table. Once it becomes more permanently set up then it starts to become a model railway. I sometimes think of the use of set track on scenic sections as a bit ‘train set’ but that was after creating one of my first reasonable scenic “main line” layouts as a kid which was all set track, and then noticing how strange full length a MK3 coaches looked going round the curves and through the points. How anybody walking through the corridors at the time would have made it through in one piece really started to make my teeth itch! It eventually got ripped up and replaced with something more sweeping. For a small industrial layout set track is not so ‘train set’ though.
  13. The Heljan one is quite good, but the 2 windscreen dividers/pillars on the can front are a little on the vertical side rather than being raked back like the can sides. Also the yellow over the top of the windscreens is a little too narrow, but that has been rectified on the second batch. It’s a shame for Heljan that the SLW one and the new Bachmann one are in the offing as it would be the best model of the 25 yet without the other two.
  14. A more pressing problem is that 027 is sold out, but if yiu can get one, the white stripe can be removed with some IPA and some elbow (well, finger) grease, or more effectively with some white spirit as I found out on the one that I wanted to keep the stripe on! That got masked and resprayed. Here’s what used to be a model of 37027.
  15. Rodney looks great. I definitely prefer large logo livery with the thin yellow line over the windscreens to the version on Warspite where the black windscreen surrounds extend to the gutter at the front. I have both on order.
  16. I think I may post the problem in the DCC forum or else contact Bachmann direct if we don’t get to the bottom of it on this thread.
  17. I’ve not seen much about the deco sample for this run, but there is this image online. https://images.app.goo.gl/M4QqdZjPXnWve6Tt8 It looks rather tasty!
  18. They didn’t stay red for long on the real thing, that’s for sure. I did manage to find one picture of it with them still in red from Stephen Dance’s Flickr page.
  19. On looking at the original order confirmation email after the top tips yesterday, the loco’s number is given as 37 714 with a space. That’s just enough to fox the Gmail search if you don’t include it! Technology, eh? 😀
  20. I posted them too on the HTG thread so I’ve edited them off. @PieGuyRob, if you could also take them off my quoted post on that thread that would be great. I didn’t realise.
