  1. Actually, the Japanese N is 1:150, so is very close to UK N.
  2. In the video the, as yet, unreleased versions were mentioned and will, apparently, still be delivered, but with the new chassis as in this announcement.
  3. Here at n Gauge news : https://www.ngaugenews.com/post/class-769-flex-bi-mode-bmu-sound-fitted-class-08-lead-graham-farish-n-gauge-spring-announcements
  4. Indeed, the non sound versions have no decoder of any kind fitted. I will be ordering a green one, sound fitted of course. Looking at the internal views of the chassis, there is plenty of space for a keep alive to be fitted too. That will be a must have on such a tiny loco.
  5. Ah yes please, in N Gauge without a doubt, there's little or nothing else competing here.
  6. Hi Paul, Thank you, this is most useful, he has JMRI and a Sprog, so will be able to read CV8. That'll be a great step forward. He does have more than one cab, but the behaviour moves with each. I am sure he will check if one is "open" for that loco.
  7. That CV can be different from make to make. But worth a look.
  8. What an excellent idea ! Especially in N gauge
  9. Hi, My friend has a Bachmann 3MT 31-981 (8 pin socket DCC ready) with a sound decoder fitted. It was bought 2nd hand, so the decoder make and model is unknown. The loco works fine, sound is good. However, when the power is switched on to the track, the loco toots and starts running, requiring the operator to quickly acquire the loco and bring it under control, from which point it all runs fine. This happens every time the power is re-applied, or if the loco is removed and replaced. Any ideas what might be changed to prevent this power on aberration please ? Thank you, Brian
  10. I spoke too soon, they derail over facing Kato points. Not just the odd one, all of them ! And on Kato crossover, scissors and 481 radius normal points. All fine on all types of trailing points. Oh well, what are the best wheel sets to replace them with ?
  11. Not as far as I know, existing models, weathered butterly coal wagons and some tanks
  12. I have now a dozen Peco wagons and I find them excellent. What great value and they look fine, couple fine and run without issues so far. Thanks for the advice here, I am very happy with my purchase and will get more.
  13. N gauge, of course ! I think it would go down well with 00 and N
  14. I find the Hatton's trunk operation and service excellent. It saves me a great deal of money on couriers, especially important here as our post office became inoperative over the last few years. By the way, they kept my trunk "live" over their recent accounting excercise, understanding the situation I have. Nearly time to have it shipped now though, as it is getting to the point that the shipping costs will be optimal. Another one or two items and the shipping cost will be too high.
  15. Finding any maroon Mk1s is difficult. I'm even willing to take "wrong region" running numbers, as I can't actually read them now. From new stock, there are three only and I've managed to find another four different types 2nd hand from Hattons. Not sure how many will have NEM couplings. That's it. Still looking for SO and BSK. I have some Staniers in BR maroon on the way, so they will fill in, but I want a separate rake of them anyway, to run the mid day stopping services. The only full rake that I could make up from new would be suburban Mk1, which will probably go out of production as I get to plan that expense. TGIF
  16. Tube stock being hauled on main lines between match trucks was not an everyday sight, but it was far from rare. I have no pictures, but remember seeing one once along the Southern end of the West Coast main line, en route between operational area and factory. I also remember seeing pictures of such movements in the various publications, certainly of 1938 stock.
  17. I really hope the experimental driving car 10306 is produced as one of the variants. It spent most of its life on the Northern line, but Andy Armitage did say he saw it rostered for the Bakerloo line once. I want one, as I travelled in it regularly at the time , on the Northern.
  18. That's a real surprise and very welcome. Another much needed EMU to go on the Southern end of the West Coast Main Line, as well as nearly of London and suburbs. They will go well with a 501 and a 310, won't they ? Ah, we still have to see if they ever materialise, don't we ? They will sit well with the 313 though. I will definitely be in the order queue for this one. 4 car sets ? 3 car supplementary sets ? Even full 7 car sets ? I look forward to more details.
  19. I will also vote for this, in the original green please :-)
  20. I think the Class 310 (AM10) needs a place. It replaced the Mk1 compartment stock, to everyone's relief and was the mainstay of the suburban services on the Southern WCML for 20 years. There never has been a RTR model and is a huge gap.
  21. Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for, my trig is more than a bit hazy from non use over too many decades. Thanks also to Flying Pig for confirming the angle. It was only a matter of seconds to get an answer of 38.5mm after that. I had no chance yet to try it with actual track, as I am waiting for the points to arrive. Also, this is a temporary solution for a bit of test track whilst I get the real layout built. The latter will be all Code 55 so will not need the bridging piece from that "point". Thanks to all who responded, it really will save me some time in putting it together.
  22. Hi John, Thanks for the reply, but I could only do that if I could accurately line them up in Scarm, which I cannot do. That's not important though, as Scarm is a very useful tool for designing the layout and this can be done on the screen approximately, as, in fact I have done above. However, when I get to the proposed layout, I still need to get precise line up and for that I do need the precise length of one or other track, if anyone knows this please.
  23. Hi, I want to use Peco medium N gauge points to form a crossover between two parallel tracks, but using the standard track spacing for Code 80 curves. However, only the short 1st radius points joint at the right spacing. Clearly, I need to cut two pieces of track to length to match the gap between the two medium points, as well the matching straights on the other track. I have made this picture using Scarm, which I hope illustrates the "point" Can anyone help me with the correct length of track for either, or both, tracks A and/or B please ?
