  1. I wonder if the influence was Tom Ingall in this instance. He covers transport for Look North and is a well known railway enthusiast. Perhaps he put the word out to his colleagues on the programme?
  2. Electric services from Maidenhead started today with a handful of peak hour services. Actually it might be less than a handful as on another forum its reported that power supply issues mean that all the planned for services can't be provided yet. 387132 waits to form 1P94, 07.42 Maidenhead to London Paddington.
  3. Tom Ingall, the programmes producer and narrator, has Tweeted that he's hopeful that it might get a slot on BBC4.
  4. After crossing Reedham Swing Bridge DRS 37423 'Spirit Of The Lakes' rounds the curve towards Reedham station on the rear of 2J67, Lowestoft to Norwich on 5th May 2017.
  5. I couldn't initially decide whether to click 'like', 'agree', or 'friendly/supportive' (or come to think of it, 'thanks' on behalf of the owner of the 17 plate BMW). Suffice to say 'good on you, jjb1970'. I hope your positive action is appreciated by the owner.
  6. As the 71 has been successfully delivered, I for one would be more than happy now 'to put my money where my mouth is' and sign up for a 74 if you're going to relaunch the crowdfunding, Dave.
  7. That was my understanding of the reply that I received - the enquiry is to start late September/early October (presumably 2017). Of course, subsequent to the enquiry there's the possibility of various stages of appeal before work can actually legally start. Hopefully the project won't face a similar situation as to that which delayed the start of the Ordsall Chord project in Manchester, although I do understand the need for 'due process' with projects of this nature. And, all this assumes that Network Rail has the funding to do the work, presumably in CP6.
  8. It would be 70807 with this; 6E45 http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R97059/2017/05/10/advanced It was the loaded working - my photo in post #2023 is the returning empties.
  9. Shortly after setting off on its return journey on 11th May 2017, 70807 passes Oakenshaw Junction with 4V45, 10.00 Leeds Stourton RMC to Cardiff Pengam Sidings.
  10. This is the current position with the Transport and Works Act application that was submitted to the Department for Transport for the Werrington Dive Under; ...We announced on 7 March 2017 that an inquiry would be held into this application. We are currently waiting for Network Rail to propose dates and a venue to our colleagues in the Planning Inspectorate so that they can appoint an Inspector. At the moment the applicants are proposing a start date of late September/early October * but these dates have yet to be confirmed. Looks like any meaningful ground work is still some way off yet. * refers to the start date of the enquiry.
  11. Could be an early or on time arrival back at Euston though - was 8 early for the stop at MK.
  12. Passing point times here; 1Z88 http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U53080/2017/05/09/advanced 1Z89 http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U53083/2017/05/09/advanced
  13. Full timings for 0C98 here; 0C98 (Br Hinksey Yard - Carlisle Yard) - TrackIT!.pdf
  14. I try to avoid 'me too' posts - but in this case I'm going to make an exception and echo Mike's word in post #2. Don't
  15. 185101 passing the, at the time, just closed 'box at Elsham, North Lincolnshire on 23rd December 2015. ...and the next photo will be any railway subject in the county of Dorset.
  16. 71007 sits in the test bay at Eastleigh Works on 22nd July 1975. ...and the next photo will be a class 76 locomotive somewhere between Manchester and Sheffield.
  17. Ok. Keeping with the javelin theme - 395028 at St Pancras International on 23rd July 2016 waiting to depart with 1J46, 16.12 to Margate. Sticking with St Pancras, the next photo will feature St Pancras 'in the old days', i.e. before the construction of the Eurostar terminal in the early 2000s.
  18. Caledonian Sleeper stock being serviced at Fort William, 30th August 2016 ...and the next photo will show some complex mainline switches and crossings, without a train in view.
  19. They could do worse than resurrect 'Ryde Rail' or perhaps 'Wight Rail'.
  20. I wonder if things would have been different had the NRM initally offered the T3 for sale to a 'heritage' railway. If there were no takers after that exercise and the locomotive is really deemed as historically unworthy and unwanted by the NRM, they always could have tried Booths* in Rotherham to see what its scrap value is. * other recycling companies are available.
  21. I suspect that this thread will prove to be particularly popular. Here are some from me, in no particular order, to be going on with; 4 REP 2012 stored in the electrified siding at Brockenhurst following withdrawal in 1988. 3 CIG 1498 approaching Lymington Junction on 31st July 2005. Two class 442s at Walkford in 1988 shortly after introduction to service. 444022 at Walkford on 14th June 2014
  22. There have been a couple of DB Cargo class 90s on hire to Virgin Trains East Coast for the last few months deputising for non-availability of class 91s. They are usually restricted to the services to Leeds and Newark where their 110mph top speed has less of an impact on time keeping, although I recall that there has been the odd visit to Newcastle too. 90039 waits at London Kings Cross on the evening of 16th March 2017.
