  1. I try to avoid 'me too' posts - but in this case I'm going to make an exception and echo Mike's word in post #2. Don't
  2. 185101 passing the, at the time, just closed 'box at Elsham, North Lincolnshire on 23rd December 2015. ...and the next photo will be any railway subject in the county of Dorset.
  3. 71007 sits in the test bay at Eastleigh Works on 22nd July 1975. ...and the next photo will be a class 76 locomotive somewhere between Manchester and Sheffield.
  4. Ok. Keeping with the javelin theme - 395028 at St Pancras International on 23rd July 2016 waiting to depart with 1J46, 16.12 to Margate. Sticking with St Pancras, the next photo will feature St Pancras 'in the old days', i.e. before the construction of the Eurostar terminal in the early 2000s.
  5. Caledonian Sleeper stock being serviced at Fort William, 30th August 2016 ...and the next photo will show some complex mainline switches and crossings, without a train in view.
  6. They could do worse than resurrect 'Ryde Rail' or perhaps 'Wight Rail'.
  7. I wonder if things would have been different had the NRM initally offered the T3 for sale to a 'heritage' railway. If there were no takers after that exercise and the locomotive is really deemed as historically unworthy and unwanted by the NRM, they always could have tried Booths* in Rotherham to see what its scrap value is. * other recycling companies are available.
  8. I suspect that this thread will prove to be particularly popular. Here are some from me, in no particular order, to be going on with; 4 REP 2012 stored in the electrified siding at Brockenhurst following withdrawal in 1988. 3 CIG 1498 approaching Lymington Junction on 31st July 2005. Two class 442s at Walkford in 1988 shortly after introduction to service. 444022 at Walkford on 14th June 2014
  9. There have been a couple of DB Cargo class 90s on hire to Virgin Trains East Coast for the last few months deputising for non-availability of class 91s. They are usually restricted to the services to Leeds and Newark where their 110mph top speed has less of an impact on time keeping, although I recall that there has been the odd visit to Newcastle too. 90039 waits at London Kings Cross on the evening of 16th March 2017.
  10. Depends on your definition of first generation, so hopefully this will do. Southern Railway Waterloo and City line - under renovation at the LT Museum Depot, Acton. ...and the next photo will be a BR Western Region diesel hydraulic, of any class, working on any region but the Western Region.
  11. One of these - currently being built by Siemens and being delivered to South West Trains. None have entered passenger service yet. They've been under test and driver training, primarily on DC but also on AC. Pictured at Barnes whilst on a driver training run on 16th February.
  12. Hopefully this will do... Fishbourne signal box and level crossing, circa 1986 when I worked nearby in Chichester. ...and the next photo will be from the Isle of Wight before electrification in 1967.
  13. Here we go. A foreign built loco in Britain. The next photo will feature a locomotive bearing a nameplate showing a girls name.
  14. Reflections. Barrow Hill roundhouse, 22nd March 2017.
  15. It's the leasing cost - the number is just missing the £ sign.
  16. Steam sunset over Brooksbottom Viaduct on the East Lancashire Railway, 13th March 2017.

    Formula 1 2017

    Probably no great surprise. http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/39290908
  18. Testing of the 345 EMUs is underway. 345005 - the first unit in final passenger spec configuration - was at Liverpool Street this morning. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C7COxi-WoAAcwgR?format=jpg&name=large
  19. Early morning mist burns off at Burrs Country Park Halt on the East Lancashire Railway, 13th March 2017... ... followed shortly after by the morning freight clanking its way up the line.
  20. Do you know where the work is taking place Peter?
  21. Ahh. Happy days of using Microsoft Project. I recall the regular quip that it was usually quicker to complete the bl**dy project than it was to produce an accurate Gantt for the project using MS Project !
