  1. GBRf 60076 on 13th July 2023 heading east along the Calder Valley between Elland and Brighouse with loaded biomass hoppers, working as 6E09 from Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station. A video is available here.
  2. Two from the last couple of days; On 12th July 2023 GBRf 66788 LOCOMOTION 15 draws through Brighouse with a lengthy rake of MJA open box wagons working as 6E99, Leyland Sidings to Rylstone Tilcon. On 13th July 2023 DB Cargo 66084 hurries along the Calder Valley heading west towards Elland with 6M16, Wilton EFW Terminal to Knowsley Freight Terminal, empty bin liner containers. The Drax hoppers on the adjacent line are from 6E09, Liverpool Biomass Terminal to Drax Power Station, and were being hauled by GBRf 60076 Dunbar.
  3. Colas 56096 assisting 70807 with 6M43, Haverton to Colas Ribble Rail, loaded bitumen tanks, passing through Brighouse on 12th July 2023. Piecing together the sequence of events, 70807 had left Haverton on time at 02.28 but encountered a problem early into its journey, reaching York 86 minutes late. 56096 was summoned from Doncaster to take the entire consist forward from York, by then +171 minutes, passing me at Brighouse +154 minutes down and reaching its destination at Preston +116 minutes late. All in all, given the route that this working has across the Pennines, I'd suggest that's a pretty creditable performance by the driver and the signallers involved too.

  6. Yep. Definitely a very very good idea. A Northern Class 158, working between Leeds and Wigan Wallgate, passes over the foot crossing at Cromwell Bottom between Brighouse and Elland on 7th July 2023.
  7. Colas 70804 powers along the Calder Valley between Greetland Junction and Brighouse on 7th July 2023 with 6M44, Colas Ribble Rail to Haverton, discharged bitumen tanks.

  9. It’s always worth bearing in mind these days that so many stunts today are achieved through use of very clever CGI and digital manipulation. Otherwise TC and other actors of course, as you say, would struggle to get personal insurance. To say nothing of the health and safety risk implications and costs for the film studios! It’s never been the same since the Buster Keaton era IMHO. Some of his best stunts, all without the benefit of CGI, can be found here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frYIj2FGmMA
  10. Here you go @Mallard60022 for starters; https://railopsgroup.co.uk/news/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_93_(Stadler) https://www.hattons.co.uk/directory/vehicledetails/1453070/class_93

  13. Yes, I'd noticed that when I skimmed through the list. Huddersfield and York being the examples that I was looking for which are respectively TransPennine Express and LNER 'managed' stations, of course, but both also served by Northern.
  14. All the Train Operating Companies will probably have something similar on their websites from today outlining these proposals, the impact on ticket offices in their area and the public consultation. Here is how Northern are presenting this, which also includes a link to the public consultation; Northern - Changing how we support customers at our stations
  15. A walk along Chesil Beach on 27th June 2023 looking towards the Isle of Portland... ...with life clinging on amongst the pebbles... ...or may be not... ...and amongst the natural wonder, evidence of human activity was still evident - more's the pity. This Google maps reference may be helpful for anyone unfamiliar with the location; Chesil Beach, Dorset
  16. The DfT can, very correctly, be taken to task for many of the issues affecting the railways south of the border, but as transport is a devolved matter the resolution of this one lies firmly in Edinburgh.
  17. Direct Rail Services 68002 Intrepid and 68003 Astute, top 'n' tailing a couple of PFA wagons, passing through Moreton on 29th June 2023 as 6Z95 from Winfrith Sidings to Crewe Coal Sidings.
  18. Direct Rail Services 68002 Intrepid and 68003 Astute, top 'n' tailing a couple of PFA wagons, pass through Moreton heading west shortly after the start of their journey on 29th June 2023 as 6Z95 from Winfrith Sidings to Crewe Coal Sidings... ...and pass back through heading east a short time later after reversal at Dorchester South.
  19. Locomotive Services Limited's 47614 bringing up the rear of 1Z72, Weymouth to London Victoria, Steam Dreams rail tour. West Country 34046 Braunton was on the front.
  20. West Country 34046 Braunton hurries through Moreton on 27th June 2023 at the head of 1Z72, Weymouth to London Victoria, Steam Dreams rail tour.
  21. Duplicate post with the same details provided by @Flying Pig deleted.
  22. Not sure about the cut out that you're referring to, but I always understood that the 'unofficial' indicator for the handbrake being on, certainly on BR(S) EMUs, was a shoe paddle being inserted in the hand brake wheel and thus visible in the non-drivers side front cab window.
  23. I'd like any time penalty in these circumstances to be subject to a separate isolated pit stop, with no other work being permitted on the car, to be undertaken within a set number of laps following any track limit transgression, as opposed to the current arrangements. That might concentrate the teams and drivers minds a bit. An FIA mandated and controlled area along the pit lane to serve the time penalty, separate from the team's own pit area wouldn't be a bad idea either, to ensure compliance.
  24. Good to see you posting here again Dave. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has missed your insightful posts in the forum, not just the interesting ones showing the activity at Eccles Road. Kind regards. Russ.
  25. It’s good that that fact is now getting wider prominence through programmes such as this and the ‘quality’ newspapers. Of course writers for some of the railway publications, particularly Roger Ford in Modern Railways, have been highlighting this issue and its affect on the railways funding and its operations for quite a few years now. But no one was listening, or perhaps more relevantly wanted to listen.
