  1. Well fortunately (for the expenditure monitoring at least) she’s not my SWMBO yet lol plus the dinner is hardly likely to be cheap either
  2. with the greatest of respect to you all on here, I shall have a female companion to keep entertained (and buy dinner for afterwards, even though she was the one asking to come to the show) so I shall opt out of any Rmweb meet up I'm looking forward to the Heljan announcements in particular, want to see if 009 is getting any more traction, so to speak.
  3. Agreed that there's nothing unreasonable about the time and date, just that the previous midnight reveals etc had a level of excitement about them that is missing a bit from this one. For me at least
  4. I think that design work may need to be a tad more progressed for these questions to be answered. However, as only the rocking bunker version is being made, i suspect that it may be needed to provide clearance for a motor/circuitboards etc, which would make conversion a tad tricky EDIT: hattons dave beat me to it...
  5. What a peculiar date. I for one miss the 'big dates' that they used to do like new years eve or xmas eve. There was something of a sense of anticipation about it. Don't quite get the same out of 10am on 7/1/2019 to be honest...
  6. Upcoming offers appear to be 15% off of your own models between 22-26 Nov and 15% off marketwide on 26 Nov
  7. . (EDIT) - Ignore - stupid comment that i realised was stupid the second i actually read it on screen
  8. At Warley last year I thought that the Bachman bargains stand had stopped completely. Only stumbled across it at 3pm on Sunday afternoon and I still got what I wanted I’d made sure to queue up at 9:30 in the morning as well
  9. There were a couple of points which joined on to the main running lines, but those would have been easy enough to isolate electrically
  10. Aberdeen was a worthy winner, easily the most ambitious finale layout (although I myself thought it was about third on build quality) combined with their truly wonderful heat layout meant that to me they were head ans houlders above anyone else there
  11. Curved gradients need to be as shallow as possible, they represent the worst possible scenario for traction as the rolling resistance from the train increases due to the curve, the weight on the coupling effectively increases due to the gradient and the centre of gravity is 'thrown' towards the outside of the curve. So out of a six coupled driven wheelbase, you may have only three (or possibly two if the gradient is steep) of the driven wheels providing traction for a train that just got harder to pull. When you combine this with the fact that the somewhat slender prototypes of the narrow gauge world leave precious little room for ballast to assist with this traction, it is best to ease the gradient and the curve radius as much as can be managed in your available space.
  12. Might dip into grabbing a 'Falcon' at some point... That is once I've checked to see if I've got one already. i cant actually remember
  13. Hi there, nice to see that someone from the showmakers is here . Quick question - i sent in a brief email on Friday for an application - should I have heard anything by now? Or is it something where i will have to just be patient for a bit?
  14. On the flip side of things, I regularly submit offers at what even I consider to be silly prices on the million to one chance of them being accepted and the amount of vitriol I have experienced from sellers is frankly astonishing - to the extent that one wonders why they put the option on in the first place. Why have it if you aren’t going to negotiate - naturally my first offer is going to be stupidly low. And before I’m misinterpreted here, I’m talking about those people who take it as a personal insult that I’ve made an offer. Those who simply decline or submit a counter offer - fair enough - it’s your lot, you can sell it for whatever you like. But those who send insulting messages about my affrontery leave me feeling somewhat bemused
  15. Went to a very amateurish pub fireworks display one night, was perfectly fine until the Catherine wheel set fire to the fence panel it had been nailed to and the bottle with the rocket in it fell over and fired in to the audience. Thankfully nobody was hurt, (and being about seven at the time I thought this was all fantastically exciting) but we never went back for some reason
  16. I’m in favour of the animations being allowed to be in the pre-builds. That way, it’s possible that they may actually work properly like they did on last nights episode
  17. Think it wasn’t helped by the fact that the water effect stuff didn’t cure in time. The luminous white/green was what put me off, I must confess
  18. Well I for one have applied for series 2. Hoping to get together a team of pals who despite having modelling abilities have never laid a piece of track in their lives
  19. I actually like Jodie Whitaker as the Doctor, she’s got the right sort of mania going on and once she’s had more than a couple of episodes to work with she will develop that edge that we all like about the Doctor. That being said, I really hope they get off the preachy stuff soon. So far we’ve had guns, racism and evil capitalism. I utterly refused to watch the Rosa Parkes episode as an event that important shouldn’t be made the subject of an adventure-based programme, and the Trump substitution from the latest episode made everything absolutely awful. Frankly, I don’t want to be preached at all of the time when I’m watching Dr Who. Tying in a wider point to storylines is absolutely superb on occasion (and has produced some of the best episodes ever) but the current repetitiveness is robbing the show of both quality and impact. Perhaps just a sci-if Adventure next week?
  20. I’d say that considering the winning team (name escapes me) ignored the theme is a bit harsh. They had added fire (forebodes) and ice (kit built refrigerated wagons) to their layout. Why is this being treated as inferior to the fridge and chilli sauce factories of the other team? Frankly, I didn’t see much of a link there either. Was it a brilliant interpretation? No, but everything worked and everything looked damn good. The railway children easily had the best interpretation of the brief, but regrettably they just didn’t have enough time to finish things off properly. No critisism directed at any participants of the show - you all did bettter than I would have, and you all did wonderfully. I just think that comments being made are a tad one-sided and I needed to compare to illustrate my point
  21. I see someone collects ultramarines . Was forever trying to get a look at what space marines you used
  22. It was a nice mix this week, the seemingly ‘throw it on the table’ of the Steampunk (cudos for the warhammer minis though), the blue teams highly ambitious attempt to build an exhibition layout (although quite obviously unfinished) and the red team’s charming mix of the two. Also enjoyed the scratch build challenge, although visible sticky tape on the lighthouse was probably always going to end badly...
  23. Watched it just now (seriously, the channel 5 player is terrible - my Xbox app doesn’t have it at all, my phone has it but won’t play it and I needed to jump through ten spelling hoops to get the kindle stick app to find it). Think the overall vitriol towards missenden is a bit over the top - lest we forget than unless we were there we are seeing an extremely edited version of what happened. Maybe we should all give them the benefit of the doubt. Not as bad as feared, may even join up for be next series if there is one...
  24. Well after a long period of nothing from me (although sincere thanks to those of you who continue to buy my products) , I have an entry for you. she will go on sale very soon, and in the spirit of competition and thanks, if anyone can PM me with a correct guess as to what she is then they will win a link to the finished product at a no-markup price (what you pay will be what it costs at shapeways with absolutely no profit for me in it)
  25. Yeah I work in one of those buildings - it’s no fun getting through all this and past the Conservative party conference to be in my office by 8:30 in the morning. Do wish that that on occasion they would just leave it all alone. Aaaand I’ve got this until next summer at the earliest yaaay!
