  1. Yeah, while the chassis was steam outline, it was most definitely a custom chassis for both the loco and the tender. The loco was build with massively robust frames in order to provide strength and distribute the weight over the driving wheels properly for adhesion. In all, the engine appears to have actually been a success and achieved everything that it was meant to. However, BR and other prospective customers could achieve cheaper, proven and just as effective designs with the diesels of the day, so the concept was never taken forwards.

  6. Website seems fine to me. Day 3 - Peckett 560 in works livery for £79.50 https://railsofsheffield.com/products/33984/Hornby-r3615-oo-gauge-peckett-works-livery-no-560-1893-0-4-0st
  7. I believe that the primary change was that a different shade of green that was used, although there may well have been other differences. I do know that the project for the rebuild was specifically looking to replicate the post 1932 livery though, which is why I believe that it would be the best way to replicate the livery on the current 762
  8. I believe that the best one currently be the post 1932 E762 version. That’s the livery that the new build has duplicated. That being said, the new build will probably wear all of the liveries of its ancestor at some point, so all of these engines will most likely appear in one form or another on the real thing
  9. Hi Guys, Couldn’t spot that this had been posted on here before, so I thought I’d be the one to start. Day 1 was obviously yesterday, but day 2 offer is below: https://railsofsheffield.com/products/32478/Hornby-r3512-oo-gauge-wainwright-h-class-0-4-4t-late-br-train-pack-limited-edition ‘H’ Class and push pull coaches for £129.50
  10. It may be worth taking a trip to Beckonscot if you haven’t already - whilst I can’t imagine that it’s low maintenance stuff there, there should be a wealth of ideas for what to use and what to do
  11. HAPPYMONDAY sale is still on for today - shapeways have extended it to include the whole of Tuesday as well
  12. Towards the end they were getting a little more desperate not to have to pack everything back up. Picked up a coal tank labelled £92.00 and they said I could have it for £60.00. Yoink. So as not to be off topic, i shall add that anyone looking to make a shapeways purchase can get 15% off for today only with the code HAPPYMONDAY
  13. One DJM Austerity (£55.00), One Hornby Peckett (£80.00), One Bachmann Coal Tank (£60.00). Bargains, the lot of them. Managed to resist a Woodhead electric at £120.00, another Hattons Barclay at £100.00 and a LBSCR Atlantic at £170.00, although never let it be said that I have consistent tastes Layouts were very good this year, although I do agree that from a punter perspective a tad more movement would have been preferable on some. Although to counter that, a little less movement on others would also have been better for the show . No names of particular layouts though, I know how hard you all work to put on the show for us and it seems mean to highlight particular people's layouts.
  14. Except for Peter Sam, Sir Handel, Duncan...
