  1. Could you expand on the "Prusa auto-orientate feature" in relation to the Photon please? The Nim.
  2. I was struck by Jools' enthusiasm in particular. He was actually more fluent talking about modelling than he appears when interviewing his guests on 'Later...' The Nim.
  3. I'm intrigued that the couplers on the Hitachi train did not manage to hold the adjacent vehicle ends in alignment in a supposed low speed situation. ISTR this was one of the concerns hastening the withdrawal of BR Mk1 stock. The Nim.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Does this mean the Quad-Arts no longer worked to Moorgate after the NBLs and BRCWs transferred away? The Nim.
  5. With the Photon S, Anycubic went proprietary for both the electronics and the software. The latest version produces files in a proprietary format too, which is incompatible with the Photon 'classic'. The 'classics' currently in production have quietly adopted the same proprietary motherboard as the 'S'. All this has upset the user community which has expended a lot of energy tweaking the 'classic' firmware and toolchain, and are sceptical about Anycubic's intentions after locking down their machine. The Nim.
  6. Note that the 'huge community' of Photon users (Photonsters) have been miffed by Anycubic's switch from an industry-standard motherboard in the Photon 'classic' to a proprietary design in the Photon S. The Photonsters community had invested a lot of effort into understanding the original board, and what could be borrowed/learned from other brands using the same component. On top of this, recent Photon S firmware now uses a different print file format, incompatible with the 'classic', so little of the Photonsters work can be carried forward. To cap all this, current production of the 'classic' now also contains the proprietary board, which can be determined only by powering up and reading the firmware version or examining the innards. This now being colloquially known as the "Fauxton". Other Photonsters are buying spare original CBD motherboards and retro-fitting them to Photon S printers, to enable continued use of third-party toolchains instead of Anycubic's proprietary one. The Nim.
  7. Ah. I've caught up now. I misread the statement as Simon being a contributor to The Engine Shed! The Nim.
  8. No. I suspect you're thinking of "Simon Says", which to give him the credit so often lacking here, was an innovation for Hornby. The Nim.
  9. Have to mention that the same bladder strain will occur on a 717 too, possibly exacerbated by the jiggly ride! The Nim.
  10. [duplicate post - original didn't show in page refresh]
  11. Latterly I had breathed a sigh of relief when a 313 hove into view rather than a 717. Prospect of a competent comfy suspension and relatively comfy seat, and free from a cacophony of bleeps and repetitive announcements by that woman. She seems to follow me into supermarkets and WHS too. I preferred the few low-back seated sets as the high backs were set to induce a hunched posture. The 313s window seats were free of that trunking which forces one to sit skew or cross-legged for the entire journey, and provided a handy horizontal handrail on the luggage racks to enable one to extricate oneself from the window seat in crowded conditions under braking for one's stop. The Nim.
  12. There's a short video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcrCDuMQjzM The Nim.
  13. One on the offside of the south end cab too. All cabs had been treated to fresh paint. Caught up with the tour at Hertford North where there was a fair enthusiast and staff presence. Had hoped to record it and its characteristic wheel-flats subsequently rattling through Bayford, but was thwarted first by traffic, then a road closure The Nim.
  14. A little later, actually. The Rover 200 in shot is an R8, which was launched 30 years ago last week, i.e. 1989. Incidentally, the enterprising Rover 200 & 400 Owners Club staged a re-run of the original Press Launch at its original venue and with a number of the original participants. Both the presentation and the subsequent demonstration runs through the Cotswolds were re-created. The Nim.
  15. Timely post - I was just about to search RTT myself. The tour sold out within 48 hours apparently, well before I'd even heard about it. I'll get out for some photos though. It may have been this set I saw parked in the south end sidings at Hornsey last Thursday, but unfortunately masked by an adjacent 365. Meanwhile Ferme Park opposite has been cluttered with redundant Caledonian Sleeper stock, with 86101 in attendance, for over a week. Would have been nice to 'top and tail' the 313 era, as I was on The Inter-Suburban tour at the end of Cravens Class 105 rule, and then used the first morning of 313 service to get to work in WGC. Everyone whispering, unaccustomed to the possibility of their conversations being overheard! Still detest the 7xx's. Just one more grey thing to contribute to the current grey British mood, with a teeth rattling ride quality. The Nim.
  16. There is a must-visit cavern on Craggy Island, as I recall. The Nim.
  17. But do bear in mind that a narrow tyre will become unsupported in a relatively wide crossing flangeway, and drop ahead of the crossing nose. If you followed up the necessary corrections to this problem, you'd end up working to P4 standards (at least)! The Nim.
  18. Had the merry-go-round been in the vicinity of those trees, it would have created an affectionate nod to The Magic Roundabout (psychedelic period)! The Nim.
  19. The ideal publication date would have been when Dapol were starting their research! The Nim.
  20. This might illuminate the current discussion: Tornado F3 + Hawk > F-14 The Nim.
  21. A Jubilee was captured on film barrelling south through Oakleigh Park on a special. The Nim.
  22. Still banging on the door of a sat down 717 ? (Assuming he doesn't do BPK-KGX by ministerial vehicle now.) The Nim.
