Anyway I found out what I wanted to know, perhaps you should enlighten Hornby and Accurascale because both of their "stay alives" are in excess of 20 seconds.

Our coach stay alives are designed for 10 seconds of lighting off power. Our locomotive and unit stay alives are designed for up to 10 seconds of all sound, motor under load and lights active. Obviously if you remove some of that power draw you will get more mileage but the super capacitors are optimal size and cost relative to the job they are asked to do (mainly prevent the loco stalling on dirt or poor sections or - arguably its primary function - the sound cutting out and restarting)

Was there ever a solution to the failed startup routine?

It depends on the version of ESU chip you have (there were issues with components around the pandemic) as well as the sound project version. The 'easy' fix is to drop the max volume down to about 165 (from 190ish) and/or to allow the loco a moment on the powered track before activation of the sound, to allow the super capacitors time to charge up, before adding more current demands. As always, drop our wonderful support team a line (fb dm, message, live chat, email, sms) if you need any details.

Can anyone give me a function list for the accurascale class 92 it's fitted with an ESU lokpilot 5 bought from accurascale pre-programmed

I did email accurascale they say that it is the sheet included the loco but that's for the sound-fitted version

All I need is a basic function list for the 92 with a Lokpilot 5

    Thanks

    Oliver

The functions are identical on both chips so the sheet covers both. Just on the silent chip the sound functions don’t do anything.

I'm a little confused by the exploded diagram, can anyone confirm that the nose ariel from 37409 is part No.145 please, seems I've lost one somewhere, and despite several attempts at vacuuming to find it, can't.  I'm aware that AS are still awaiting the container with all the spare parts, but I would like to contact them regarding a replacement (several probably🙃)

    Thanks.

We are closed currently for the holidays but the parts are in so drop us an email with the details and we can take care

  5. While under warranty, your recourse is to the provider of the goods. The retailer, commissioner, or outlet, can support you and / or replace the items as needed, and any models with issues will make their way to us in due course.

Outside warranty, and where bought direct, you come to us for anything.

Aside of support, we're always open to feedback, criticism and areas we might improve on, or photos, research, notes or anything else our wonderful customers feel might help us :)

    Hope that's clear!

  6. As above, no one is calling this maintenance, and indeed even trying to do so would void your warranty :)

We've seen literally a handful of motor related returns, and based on shipped locomotives with the same motor now numbering in excess of 40k, there is nothing we are, or customers should be concerned about.

That said, our support team are here to help, and can provide any repair, replacements or parts needed.

Recently received my D6700 from Locomotion and have today run it in and come to fit a decoder.

I was slightly surprised to see that the front of one of the headcode boxes and the internal frame and blinds were detached and in the bottom of the clamshell packaging, assuming they must have become detached during transit.

However, I have just noticed that the buffer directly under the detached headcode is not only misaligned, but also a different colour! It being black and not red like the rest.

Now wondering if this could have been something that went wrong in the factory or if anything more untoward my have occurred!

    Maybe ask Locomotion?

These sorts of argument could be placed against other manufacturers - eg Accurascale v Bachmann class 37 - one immediately available, no payment up front, the other positively encouraging payment up front (indeed didn’t make it at all clear pre payment wasn’t the only method until fairly recently) and not available for some time, one a more major and long standing player than the other.

You can buy an accurascale 37 (and other locos) from us and our retailers right now today and if you want to preorder anything coming in the next year you can do so with absolutely no money down at all. Just to clarify.

During the running the accurascale flasks had a mishap with a bufferstop and lost a buffer. If anyone knows if spares are out there please let me know.

Sorry if I've missed it but there are 21 pages of this to wade through and as I can't see any on the Accurascale website, I'm wondering if loads are available, or are going to be available, for the HAA/HOP AB? Or if not, what have other people done about loads?

I need removable loads and while I usually make my own loads the problem with these hoppers is the cross bracing. They will need to be cut out and embedded in the loads, but then when the wagon is running empty the cross bracing will be absent.

If loads are going to be made, will there also be a removable insert that can be put in for empties? Or are these parts available as spares so I can make my own?

This conundrum aside they are really nice wagons.

We will have MDO, HUO loads back in stock shortly, and a range of MGR loads to suit also in the new year.

i finally got a model of 7819 Hinton Manor.  But it wasn’t plain sailing as I ordered it from my local shop (Model Railway Solutions), when announced.  I was eagerly waiting a call from MRS, but when I did it was to say that they had ordered x3 GWR Manors but had been sent x3 BR Black examples (which they hadn’t ordered).  So they advised Accurascale of their error and after x2 weeks of waiting for a reply.  They were told that all GWR Sound Manors were sold out and they would not be getting any more.  So MRS were good enough to find me another model on the internet, which I bought (hence the video above).  Funnily enough Accurascale did get some more Sound Manors (Possibly a Warehouse Find). But by then I had got mine.
The model is beautiful and the best RTR Steam Loco (that I have seen).

But as for Accurascale I do find it confusing that they say that they are out of stock and won’t be getting any more.  Only to get more in the following week.  Maybe time to ditch the Abacus Stock system and get a computerised system.

Sorry to hear that. Retailers always get exactly what they order and we always release stock a few weeks after landing once all retailers and preorders are shipped. This stock is tracked it’s just items that were on preorder and are released when the ordering party doesn’t complete the order (decides to cancel or doesn’t pay or circumstances change) as well as a little overhead we build into every run.

Can we assume that the latest version of the ESU firmware will be included on the decoders fitted to this new run of Deltics? This will give us the facilities to use the new bass and tremble controls that are included in the new firmware. I've just upgraded my two Deltics to use this update and what a difference it makes to the sound of the Deltic sound decoder.

Every undelivered oem fitted loco and all new range chips will be absolutely running the latest firmware.

I have 37043 and 37051, both bought as DCC ready and then fitted later on the Accurascale LokSound 5 decoder and Accurathrash speakers.  Both locomotives cut out on startup with the factory default CV settings with a 2ft long programming track connected to a LokProgrammer!

Assuming 14V or more on track and a few seconds allowed for stay alive charge - drop support a line - we're more than happy to advise :)

But it doesn't seem to work ideally out of the box for some users.

e.g. having to reduce the volume to stop it cutting out, is not "out of the box".

Your qualifier Mick, is 'some' and anyone having an issue are invited to contact support for options on resolution. The point stands that advising people to void warranty isn't the way to go.

  16. The point regarding the ESU circuitry in the 37 is that it’s designed by ESU for the loco and the chip and the speakers. You can of course chop that up but you will void your warranty in doing so as it’s designed to work ideally out of the box by the people who make the chips :)
