An excellent video, part of a really interesting set.

Check out the train at 3:03, great excuse to buy up reduced BSOs when manufacturers make too many and the TSOs go out of stock.

Another useful video is below.  I think there are a couple filmed at Larbert which I will try to find, although they are late 80s rather mid 80s.  You'd just have to watch out for Aberdeen bound services, as in the one on the thumbnail. At Perth in tbe 80s, Aberdeen or Dundee services used the curved platforms, Inverness services the straight platforms.

Apologies for the late arrival of the YouTube video I mentioned last November.  I've finally found it again. A few Mk2 rakes to enjoy.  Although services to Inverness and Aberdeen would have passed Larbert I think the Glasgow Aberdeens would have been push pulls by then.

I was watching a YouTube video yesterday and what appears to  be the same departure in the 4rth picture featured.  The 47 with the Intercity branded TSOT.  The above was on a John K Wells video but the video I watched yesterday morning was a The Roy Bowden Collection.  I have loads of such videos saved in playlists and sometimes can't recall where a particular scene is, no wonder I get confused when two of my favourite uploaders have similar footage!  TSOT  departs at 23mins.

    Roy Bowden version

    John K Wells version.

    https://youtu.be/70TIgD2pWg8?si=rw2TphElvpa5ostG

Anyway this time the 1988 video includes an image where the number can be made out, it appears to be 6510. Before I could make out the number  I assumed with the Intercity branding it wasn't one if the Inverness 4.  However it appears it was.

    Screenshot_20240511-160503_YouTube.jpg.d682940f6c68a51bf109e44028da99e1.jpg

I've also noted some variation with some of the Scotrail branded Mk2c ones where the red line does not extend over the door.

I have a Mk2c TSOT on order but after finding out from Flood that all of the Inverness based Mk2c have the earlier toilet windows I've ended up getting another Mk2b of ebay and ordered some parts, roof hatches and GM vents from Southern Pride Models.  I could only find a Mk2b with Intercity branding, I hope it comes off so it can be replaced with ScotRail as easily as Accurascale removed the transfers from one of their Deltics on another you tube video.  Wish me luck......

  3. So what about Vectis Madness?

Firstly I thought their auctions were on a particular day but I seem to have found an ebay type auction with an end date.

Anyway, a pair of Class 37s, estimate £110 to £130, current bid with 3 weeks to go, £180. I'd assume that will increase but  there is 22.5% on top of the final bid plus VAT plus £19.95 for postage.

So the £180 is already £284.55 if my maths is correct.

  4. Been looking around and found 2 photos in W J Andersons books  1986 and 1987 respectively and a video 1986 with Mk2c TSOT with ScotRail lettering.  Where visible both Mk2c have the Mk2b style toilet windows.  I also found a video from 1988 of a TSOT at Queen Street with InterCity.

Having recently read a forum on Accurascale Mk2b where Flood converted a Mk2b TSO to a Mk2c TSOT  I found out there is a vent as well as toilet variation! It looks like most of the ScotRail TSOT  had the MK2b toilet type windows and different vents to the current TSOT on offer from Accurascale -Ignorance was bliss!

Absolutely. We plan to maintain stock availability as much as possible and the next run is already mapped out (and a few more after that, and more versions and variants etc). We will share more once decorated samples are in hand

A ScotRail blue grey TSOT, 6610, 6618 or 6619 is hopefully on you map.  But please check Floods toilet window vent guide first!

Loving my Mk2b coaches and looking forward to my Mk2c coaches I have ordered.

  6. Like others I assumed this was based on the Hattons one, but I understand from Graham that it isn't.

The announcement got me rereading the old thread on the Hattons one and when I remembered they had made their CAD drawings available, I thought maybe EFE should have downloaded them and saved themselves a bit of work!! 😉

The other thing I noticed trawling back through the Hattons thread was that it was mothballed due to a lack of preorders on page 3, and despite 6 subsequent pages of people declaring they wanted one and lamenting having not preordered it it was to no avail.  That was a pity as just like this time there did seem a lot of interest in them.

Anyway I was delighted to see it appear on the Bachmann Summer 2024 and do like Bachmann's approach of making announcements when models are only a few months away, ( I still have nightmares over the OTAs and ScotRail livery Mk2a).

First time ever I ordered one on the day they were announced, I've ordered it from Cheltenham Model Centre hopefully in time for the Perth show at the end of June.

  7. A quick question which may end up in a long answer.

Did the Mk2c  TSO(T) coaches have ScotRail or Intercity branding.  I can't tell from a couple of you tube videos / Flickr images i've looked at.

If it was ScotRail, the question then will be how easy will it be to remove the Intercity on the Accurascale models to replace with ScotRail.  Only time will tell.

  9. I am looking to renumber some of my Bachmann maroon liveried MK1 coaches and was going to use Fox Transfers. Mostly to renumber them to an Sc rake.  I see they offer them in a number of different shades, off white, gold, metallic gold, yellow and possibly straw.

I think the yellow is for Southern Region, but the others mention maroon.

There is a comment on some of them:

"There seems to be a certain amount of disagreement regarding the actual colours of lettering, numbering and lining on these liveries and so to cover all eventualities we produce the full range of shades for each purpose."

I was wondering if anyone could confirm which colour is closest to the colour used by Bachmann on their maroon liveried Mk1s?

Yes, a great show but rather hot in the hall.  Shuri Koya was my favourite too.

Yip, it always gets hot in the halls, even with the doors open.

One of our younger and presumably more enterprising members was planning on popping across to Aldi and Lidl to buy up all their ice lollies and then selling them at the back door for an extortionate price!

Want to say a massive thank you and congratulations to the organisers and exhibitors for another excellent Perth show today. Hats off to all for keeping going in the heat! Kilbowie was my personal fave, but a close second was the fascinating Shuri Koya. Always good to see something completely different for new inspiration.

Well worth the trip and the money.

    Cheers,

Thanks for you kind comments.  A really busy day yesterday, it never ceases to amaze me how an ice rink can be so warm!

Was great to a big que of folks eager to get in and our two American layouts seem to have performed well on their first outing.

    Hi.

Can the organisers clarify if there are now parking charges at the Dewars Centre when the exhibition is on?  Their website suggest that there might be:

    https://www.liveactive.co.uk/Venues/dewars-centre

On Saturday parking charges will apply.

Car Parking Charges: 15 Mins / Drop Off: Free

    Up to 2 hours - 30p

    Up to 4 hours - 50p

    Up to 6 hours - £7.00

    Up to 10 hours - £12.00

If visitors expect to be there for more than 4 hours they may want to consider the park and ride at Broxden or Scone.  The Broxden Park and Ride passes the Dewars Centte.

There are no parking charges on the Sunday.

  13. We are taking two layouts to our show this summer.  Neither have been seen at Perth before.

Both are set on the Western side of North America.

Calafountain our new N Gauge features more trees than you can shake a stick at! A river, a family of bears and long freight trains.

  14. Just over a week to go until Perth Model Railway Exhibition.

A wee taster of one of the 40 layouts which will be on show to inspire visitors.

Kilbowie by Greenock MRCKilbowie is based on the old Glasgow Central low-level line in Clydebank. It will be displaying green and blue diesel stock. The frontage features the Forth and Clyde Canal at Kilbowie Swing Bridge with the Singer factory on the right.
