During the show I was approached by a videographer who was using a tripod and I think we may have been in contact before the show. His name was Andrew and we laid on some special features for him on my Chinese HO layout, BEIJIAO.

I have looked on youtube and not found him yet.

Andrew, are you reading this? Can you PM me please?

    Thanks

I suspect it would have been Andrew Gebbie.

His channel is H and M Rail

Email sent requesting to order too!
    thanks for the heads up.
Did I see somewhere that SDEG have also have published a book about Eastfield. (I’m not on Facebook)

I am not sure about an Eastfield book although I kind of rings a bell.

I may have been SDEG or possibly one if their members.

If I can find anything I'll post it.

  4. Some more details. Below.

I've just ordered a copy, £30 plus £6.50 p and p.  You email books@sdeg.info to get details how to order.

Scotland’s Diesel Fleet in Detail: Class 26s
    Compiled by Andrew Donnelly
SDEG Scottish Diesel and Electric Group
This is the first volume in a planned series produced and supported by SDEG members, with Scotland’s Diesel in Detail: Class 26s provides detailed notes on each member of the class 26 fleet, aimed at assisting modellers of the 1980s and 1990s. It is intended neither as a pure photo album, or a full history of the class and their operations over 35 years of service, nor a book to read from start to finish in one go, but rather as a useful reference source when working on class 26 model projects or for general interest in the class. The original intention was to concentrate on members of the class which received a Heavy General Overhaul (HGO) between late 1981 and 1986, but this was expanded to cover all of the class which survived into the 1980s, as well as some brief notes on the earlier withdrawals from the 1970s.
The sheer number of detail and livery variations carried by the class 26s can never be illustrated in a single book such as this, but the aim is to provide information for the modeller and pointers which can be subsequently used when searching internet-based resources, for example. The book features a general review of the class, focused on the 1980s and up to 1993, when the final examples were withdrawn and a short section highlighting the main detail variations referred to in the subsequent text. It then takes a detailed look at the 33 members of the class which received HGOs, divided into the class 26/0s & 26/1s, being interspersed with a section covering the other examples withdrawn by or during the early 1980s. Each loco entry starts with notes covering the period from their last overhaul in the late 1970s or early 1980s, subsequent HGO refurbishment and then reviews events and changes over the following years up until withdrawal.
Scotland’s Diesel in Detail: Class 26s consists of 100 pages in 25cm x 25cm format, over 100 photos and nearly 35,000 words. A hardback, gloss cover has been chosen, along with silk finish pages and a blue marker ribbon. Compilation has taken many months of work with valuable contributions from various SDEG members and a number of excellent contacts and friends of the group. The text has been reviewed from a technical perspective by those with considerable experience of the class, as well as extensive proof-reading. The book has been prepared using professional publishing software, assisted by a design professional in creating the layout and eye-catching cover design.
A second book, covering Scottish class 47/4s of the 1980 to 1995 period is in final preparation to the same specification and design and will be released later this year.
The Class 26 book, available now, has been self-funded and published by SDEG, through whom purchasing details, prices and distribution can be obtained at www.sdeg.info

Can anyone give me some advice please, I am clearing my late Father's house & he has a fair amount of 1970s to 1990s 00 gauge stock.  I know nothing about 00, but appreciate that it is probably worth pennies.

Would there be any traders at the show who it would be worth me speaking to regarding clearance ?

    Much appreciated Duncan

You may want to try North Road Trains or the Junction Box.  Both will be there and are decent folk to deal with.

  7. The club is getting ready to go to Model Rail Scotland at the end of February.  We are taking our Coeur d’Alene layout.  Some of our newer members are getting trained up to operate the layout.

Coeur d’Alene is an American based layout with a French sounding name, it is a narrow gauge layout so it runs on OO track but it is American O Gauge.  Hope that is all clear then.

  8. Perth Model Railway Group are looking forward to taking our Coeur d'Alene layout.

Coeur d’Alene Railway is an O scale narrow gauge model, set in the state of Idaho, USA in the 1930s. It depicts how a line might have been built to serve the Coeur d’Alene Lake area, via a depot at the small town of Rockford Bay, incorporating a ferry terminal with tugboat and barge. Although fairly remote, the area has some mining activities, and a coal loading facility is included.

If you scroll up the page there are some links to Flickr pages with lots of close ups of the real thing, should give you an idea.

Thanks Cameron, I had seen those photos but I still wasn't clear about the orientation of the pipes, esp since there appeared to be two pairs of pipework and one set of pipes which was different to the others.

Somewhere, possibly Facebook I saw mention of an intention (possibly by Westhill Wagon Works) to do a video of how to fit them.  Unfortunately I've not been able to track it down assuming it was ever made.

May I ask if anyone is planning to make a YOUTUBE style video at Glasgow? My layout has appeared in several YOUTUBE videos over the years and as I/we have made so many changes/improvements during lockdown that I would really appreciate there being an updated video so that I can send a link out to exhibition managers.

If anyone reading this is planning to make a YOUTUBE style video at Glasgow please do speak to us at the time or even send me a PM now and we will happily change things around for you so as to maximise the impact.

    Many thanks

    Paul

    Paul.

One of our club members makes videos at exhibitions, I'll PM you with his email.  If he is going I'm sure he'd be happy to video your layout.

Search for Heritage and Model Rail on You Tube for his channel.

I seem to recall the blue/grey ones having similar dodgy artwork that was ok in the actual model.

    dummy-power-car-w43002-and-w43003-era-7#.YegeOPnP0uU

    Sort of.

Yes they too had black roof in the artwork but came put with yellow roofs, but the livery application wasn't great, there was a mm or so line of yellow paint which was too thick along the top of the yellow around the body just below the blue.  The Intercity 125 was a bit too low, that said it was only obvious if you tried to add a name under the Intercity 125 logo

I got chassis and motors and stuck with the Lima bodies.  As a result I have some Railroad GWR bodies to sell at some point.  The improved motor over the old pancake are excellent.

  12. Dropped Hornby an email about the black windows surrounds on the NSE 50 and the black roof on the Railroad intercity HST.  They have confirmed there will be no black window surrounds on the 50 and are aware of the black roof query on the HST.  I am sure both will be resolved before they come out.

  13. I got all excited when what looked like a CO2 wagons began to roll past only to be disappointed when revealed as a repainted TTA wagons.

I had visions of lots of people buying the set just for the wagon.

They just stopped using the character and then killed him off by dropping him down a chimney!

Using the phrase "I'll buy you a delicatessen in stainless steel", a common bribe by the mafia was to pay for refurbishments of restaurants that were in their "control". He was just seen as a moneygrabber.

The opening scene of one of my favourite Bond films, let me down Blofeld demands, oh you want to get of Bond replies to the master criminal impaled to the helicopter, I'm sure he also tells him to keep his hair on. Very cruel mocking  a wheelchair bound bald man!

Can't think of any trains to be inspired by in that film, but some great 2CV (my first car) action.

And that is only the half of it, another 18+ on the Hornby thread, Trains on Film where most but not all are about the same thing.  In terms of views and comments it outstrips all of the other Hornby 2022 announcement topics over there.  Who knew there were so many IP and copyright experts on RMWEB.
