  1. Delighted to confirm that Alloa will be one of the star attractions at Perth this June. We are hoping to have 4 Scottish based layouts based on real locations, Alloa, Blair Atholl, Laurecenkirk and Arbroath.
  2. Original post updated with the first of the societies to be listed.
  3. Was gifted a detailed Lima 26a few years ago and was delighted to find the body fitted onto a spare Heljan 26 chassis I had without any problems. I refer to it as my Bilimajen Class 26 referencing the person who detailed it, the Lima body and Heljen chassis.
  4. Another new arrival, 47641 Fife Region in large logo with the black head code box. A Grimey Times renumber and light weathering. On account on my layout being rebuilt it is seen heading South on the club's layout just North of Laurencekirk station heading to Waverley (hopefully) once it is rebuilt. The good news is Laurencekirk will be appearing at our exhibition this year, the bad news is it will be in 1950/60 guise rather than 1980s. So A4s on Aberdeen to Glasgow expresses rather than 47s. Never mind at least it is not 170s. Anyway not to worry the appearance of Blair Atholl towards Drumochter will make up for it.
  5. If memory serves me correctly when they had a poll kind of think about their MK3s they asked about various things including views on paint and in particular should it match the original or match other manufacturers who may not be exact to the original.
  6. Have added a initial list of visiting layouts to the original post. Trade and Societies will follow.

  9. Just had our AGM, all seemed to go well. One of the items was a list of exhibitions we hope to attend As well as attending a number of Scottish Exhibitions we are excited to be going to Warley not once but twice, we are taking two layouts, Old Blarney our Irish layout and Coeur d'Alene our Narrow Gauge O Gauge, French sounding American layout. The other highlight is an invite to the Great Central in June with Old Blarney. And something a wee bit different Crieff Lines Festival on 2nd September 2017. As always looking forward to our own exhibition the last weekend in June, especially looking forward to Drumochter Pass layout on its second visit to Perth. I think we may be taking Laurencekirk.
  10. Had a look at the PH Design one, I assumed the lower bit is attracted the magnet, but when I read you post I got the impression you need to add something, the comment about "attach a piece of magnetic material". Is that correct or I am missing something. What kind of thing can be added? Thanks
  11. I see the thicker version has more pull, but from reading your post I wondered if that would be a disadvantage? sorry if I have misunderstood. 15mm dia x 1mm thick N42 Neodymium Magnet - 1.1kg Pull
  12. Here here, well said that man, thought the agree button was not quite sufficient to record my agreement with most of what you said Think 1994 is pushing it a bit, after all the Haymarket's finest, the 477s had been sent to NSE land via Eastfield by then! Keep up the excellent work.
  13. Agree 47550 looks really good, tried to ignore it but did notice that 170 lurking in the background. Your desk is probably the best place for it, whatever you do keep it well away from Waverley West especially keep it away from Plt 14!
  14. Ah well time has told, they re list them for the same price, so I re offered and after offering to accept £36 last time it was listed, now they said they would accept £40! Funny thing is after two went for £21 (auction) last week, one is sitting at £31 with 5 hours to go, maybe he will get £45 after all, but not from me. And don't get me started on the wrongly numbered 477 Waverley going for over £200...............
  15. Seems it may not have sold, pretty sure one of them has just been relisted at £45! Good news is I get another three chances to offer.........
  16. So where are we with Mk 2 Air cons? The 30 plus year old Mk2D ex Airfix, ex GMR ex someone else is still available from Hornby. I bought one new for £17 about two months ago, now they are on Honrby's website for £39.99, the same price as the much newer Hornby Mk2E . The current version is OK, not sure it is worth £39.99 though The Hornby Mk2E which I was put off buying at the time as a result of the reviews and because I wanted to compare them to the what I thought was the soon to be released Bachman air cons. The sole bar issue put me off when they were £20 something, it definitely puts me off when they £39.99. Lima Mk2Fs, with extreme etching windows, a bit of detailing and close coupling are my favourite at the moment. In particular the Intercity (original) version. Not sure the others are available in the original Intercity version. And then the Bachmann Mk2 aircons, for a moment today when I read a post the were upwards of £70, I was stunned, however seems the RRP may be £49 for the non DCC ones. Hopefully they will be better than the Hornby Mk2Es but only time will tell.
  17. A bit more than the £36.13 which was still showing today on their website, if I remember correctly that was the assumed? Best guess? at the time. How times have changed........ let's hope the VEA currently showing at £20, does not end up at £40+ 39-726DC BR MK2F "Aircon" DBSO Driving Brake Second Open ScotRail with DCC interior lighting. Price is estimated - we will notify you if price rises and offer option to cancel OO Gauge (1:76 Scale) Pre-order price: £36.13 Release information not available
  18. Entirely agree feedback is important, but however good your feedback is it does not make a £20 loco worth significantly more especially when the sellers of the two which went for £21 presumably had good feedback too.
  19. Some food for thought here as I think about what mechanism I will use on the layout rebuild and extension. Looks like the Brian Kirby system using the PH design hooks may be the way to go, however what attracted me to this topic originally was the question about the Heatchote system. I have used their multi aspect signal changer thingy before and found it to be very good, however would appreciate any views on their uncoupler as it is a contender on the revised layout.
  20. Fancied Lima's 50017 Royal Oak in NSE as a wee detailing project. There were 5 on eBay last week, 2 auction and 3 on buy it now. The buy it now were on at £45ish. Two of them had the facility to offer on them. I offered both of them over what I thought the auction ones would go for. Both refused my offers and advised they wanted £35ish. As I had anticipated the first auction one ended at around £21 the night before last, so I reoffered again for one of the buy it now ones, advising them of the prices they were going for on auction and a second one was due to end that night. Again offered above the price the auction one had gone for and what I thought the second one would go for on auction. Response came back, turned down offer and said they were still looking for £36. They referred me to their feedback, still not sure why they think their presumably excellent feedback makes a £20 model worth £36. As expected the second auction one ended last night, again as predicted went for around £21, sadly mobile phone difficulties meant my last minute bid was too slow, so I missed out . Oh well anyway I am sure another auction one or two will come along soon. I presume these guys eventually get their £45 for them, but only time will tell.
  21. The ex Airfix Mk 2 D air cons are the same price as the recent Hornby Mk2 E, £39.99.
  22. Ian Excellent photos. Glad to hear you have a few hundred slides look forward to seeing them (hopefully). Especially like the Deltic at Waverley.
  23. Was delighted to find this topic recently. I remember reading an article on it years ago. I was drawn to it because of the period it was set in. The mid 80s in Scotland had a range of interesting deliveries along side the classic blue grey. A 104 has been on my Bachmann wish list for a while, my modelling skills are not currently up to scratch to do one myself. I remember the all over blue livery sets at Waverley in the mid 80s. Strathclyde 107s and 101s were present but as you say so we're Blue Grey. They tended to be in the majority. There were also some with the black window surround version on some of the Blue Grey ones. Have added the topic to my follow list and am sure I will enjoy reading more about Strathmuir.
  24. Lidl have Bluetooth speakers for sale at £9.99 http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=39989 Nor sure the exact dimensions, but I guess could be removed from the case to fit somewhere useful.
