Not churlish at all, if you were able to listen back over the grand prix where there was a safety car involved, Hamilton always has a dig at it, he has never realised that the safety car is there to slow the drivers down so it is safe for people like me who work at the side of the rack to do our job safely, As Michael Masi the race director put it he finds it personally offensive when someone like Hamilton suggests that entertainment is being put before safety, and I know a number of marshalls feel the same way, he is not the only one, but, he does seem to be one of the most vocal. There has been a consensus of opinion for a number of years that it would be a good idea for drivers to spend one practise session a season with the marshalls, there was one championship that did this and encouraged the drivers to do this by awarding a couple of extra points towards the championship for divers who had their race card signed by the post chief.
