  1. It was explained on the Sky commentary, because the pit approach is round a bend a closed indication at the pit entrance is too late because by that time the driver is committed to the pit so there would be nowhere else to go.
  2. Hi Jim All trains have to have tail lamps, no exceptions, multiple units, 91 + dot and hst sets have red lamps which act as tail lamps, the photos above show locos which are being hauled and switched off as rightly surmised above ian
  3. I'd be really happy with a good race and any winner except Hamilton
  4. Hi Ben Excuse me asking, because I've only now seen this, if you are doing a 313 does that mean that a 508 is a possibility at any time? Ian
  5. Think its got to do with FIA ruling that face coverings to be worn at all times in the paddock.
  6. No, The N gauge ones, I forgot Farish used to do 4mm!
  7. Read a few bits regarding this on various websites, consensus of opinion seems to be Vettell to Aston Martin F1 for 2021 and Perez to Haas
  8. Hi Any chance of a photo and information on what you have done to backdate the shark please?
  9. This is the issue with social media police, people can't mind their own business any more!
  10. Hi Iain I like how you produced Comet, just as an aside, how good/bad was the Mainline rebuilt Jubilee body? Ian
  11. Hi all This is Merlin our Border Collie, lovely dog who lived to the ripe old age of 18, a very intelligent boy who used to dislike whistles and loud noises, so if we were hoovering the house we had to shut him out the back yard, trouble was he learnt to open the back door and let himself in so we thought locking the back door would solve it, nope, he then jumped over the wall into our neighbours garden out into the back lane, down the side of the house and let himself in the front door. Here are our current 2, Harri on the left is a Shitzu, Jack Russel, Poodle mix who my daughter named after Harry Potter, only problem was Harri is a Harriet! and the pup on the right is Luna. A more recent photo of Luna sharing the couch with the cat who looks unimpressed, Luna is Poodle/Beagle cross or as one pet shop owner described her, a highly intelligent idiot! Her claim to fame is that she managed to find her way onto the roof of our 3 storey house and I have the video to prove it.
  12. Sorry Andrew that title belongs to Hamilton and has done for a while
  13. Why? Valteri would not have won the race then, just gained the points due to Hamiltons penalty, and then Lando would not have got the 3rd place so another contrived result, nice to see him being penalised for ignoring caution flags though at last!
  14. Hi Were the Older style Farish LMS coaches based on particular coaches or were the generic, the suburbans look like LMS 57ft types, but, I am baffled by the mainline types? Ian
  15. The reason for the "3 Months" is that protests are made to race stewards, with no racing there was no race stewards to protest to, CH was asked and explained that the Friday was the first occasion when they could protest and wanted to do so on the Friday to get it cleared up at the earliest possible point in the weekend so as to not spoil the result on Sunday. Ian
  16. I don't know the signaller concerned, but, a user wouldn't get a flat No or obstinacy from me, I try and explain I am many miles away from the user and have many crossings under my control and I need the assistance of the user in determining the location they want to cross at so they can do so safely, I can think of only one problem crossing at the locations where I work, it is one where the farmer reported the telephones not working at a crossing connecting 2 of his fields, but, then refused to let the S&T people cross his land to get to the crossing to fix them! Ian
  17. Hi Mark Will they be finished as LMS or BR? Ian
  18. So, Grahame & David Kindly explain to me then how I can allow someone to cross a crossing safely if they wont tell me what crossing they want to cross? Ian
  19. The OBligation to follow them is that if they don't then they won't get permission to cross the crossing because it won't be safe to do so, Simple.
  20. As far as I am aware there are no dedicated lines everything goes via BT, on a daily basis I get phone calls which begin "Is there a train coming, I want to cross the line" I have to find out where the person is in order to grant or refuse, I was at a briefing some time ago on the subject of user worked crossings where the signaller took the information from the light on his phone concentrator and allowed someone to cross resulting in a near miss because of a crossed phone line, hence I NEED the user to tell me verbally which crossing they want to use. From personal experience I find if I explain why I need the information then the person on the other end is more than happy to work with me to ensure safety. As an aside and with regard to the use of BT lines, when the NSTR signalling was put in on the Central Wales line in the late 80's the S&T department were baffled for months by an intermittent failure of the token instruments between Llandovery and Llanwrtyd, it would fail several times a week, then work perfectly a week or so before going into a round of failures again, this went on for months on end until someone discovered the BT lines from Llandovery were routed via the telephone exchange in Merthyr and the failures were due to BT engineer switching equipment off for maintainence without knowing there were BR signalling lines in the circuit. Ian
  21. The onus is on the user to tell the signaller what crossing he is ringing from, not for the signaller to lead the user by stating what crossing he thinks he is ringing from, if the user will not for whatever reason tell the signaller which crossing he wishes to use then the signaller will quite rightly refuse permission to cross. Ian
  22. Sorry Neil The farmer was entirely in the wrong, he should state what crossing he is at when asked to do so by the signaller. My box has a prompt card near each phone concentrator which states as follows(written as it is written on the card). When receiving a call from a user worked crossing 1. State your LOCATION and your ROLE (Signalller at Signalbox) 2. Ask and reconfirm WHERE the user is calling from 3. Ask WHAT they are crossing with 4. HOW LONG will it take them to cross SAFELY 5. REPEAT BACK and CONFIRM with user I can't know for sure until the user tells me which crossing they are ringing from as (occasionally) we have had crossed lines because these crossing phones work over BT lines, they are not dedicated lines ( on 1 occasion a crossing phone rang and there was a lady on the other end phoning from her house saying she had just gone into labour and what should she do!). One location I work has 87 user worked crossings hence the need for the user to TELL ME where he wants to cross so I can cross reference with my chart which tells me the mileage of the crossing and the protecting signals. If the user like this farmer refuses to confirm their location as in point 2 above then I will refuse permission to cross. Ian
