  1. Browsing in a model shop earlier today came across one of the old long wheelbase ferry vans by Triang Hornby in a Blue Transfesa livery, is this an authentic livery for this van or a figment of Triang Hornby's imagination, I have only seen them in the through to the continent by BR livery previously? 2. Hi Tony Just read through the whole thread, really enjoyed it, wonderful modelling very inspiring, nice to see someone modelling parcels trains, a sometime neglected part of the railway scene. Just one comment regarding the parcels train, shouldn't the VanC be further towards the rear as I think, and I'm no expert although a signalman in real life, there was a specified maximum number of vehicles allowed behind the brake in which the guard rode which I think was 2? 9. Hi Brian it was me enquiring as to the date it burnt down, Llandarcy and Felin Fran were both reduced to ground frames, however, Llandarcy was still manned by signalmen, I know this because it was my first signalling post when I joined the railway in 1979, the staffing at Llandarcy was a signalman, chargeman and examiner on two shifts, the chargeman and examiner also covered the traffic to Clydach, the train would pick up the chargeman at Llandarcy and he would then operate Felin Fran Box. The box itself burnt down in 1986 so by the time I was appointed to Port Talbot PSB in 1991 we used to manually move and clip the points at the junction for the train to get onto the branch, a job I did several times travelling from Port Talbot for the purpose. Not sure where you got that info from, but, it was regular practise if the up London hadn't left Neath then the Iron ore would be routed off the docks branch up stormy and into stormy loop for the London to pass, usually by the time the Iron ore was in the loop the London would by about Pyle breathing down its neck, also there's another(longer) loop at Pencoed before you get to Miskin.
