  1. Liquid China Clay is used in the printing process hence the service to Sittingbourne where there was a large paper mill. Excellent pictures.
  2. The trouble I find with this reasoning is that children are still learning and games such as this blur the boundaries. About 15 years ago I was fitting a kitchen and 2 boys were playing a game of some sort which involved kick boxing. When the mother made them turn it off as they were getting loud one of the 2 boys ran at the other and tried a flying kick to his head, he didn't manage the height so ended up kicking him in the chest this pushed him backwards into a wall/display cabinet with a bit of force that knackered one of the doors. The Boy then got upset as he'd hurt his brother, he had no idea that the result of the violence he'd seen would hurt someone as in the game they just get back up again and carry on. I'm not good with kids ages but they were between 9-11 (ish)
  3. Only 20 hole....what do you use them for then.......ballet ? 30's the minimum.
  4. Rail Head treatment train I think. (RHTT) It is leaf fall season.
  5. You're dead right there'll be a get out clause. For me, everything I sell has a transaction that's carried out by a solicitor (house sale) and there's never more than 2 in a year, the only other things are purchases which can easily be attributed to the drawings. Apart from trying to fiddle materials which quite frankly is just not worth it, I cannot see the point in taking them up on their insurance.
  6. The issue I have with RM 'reviewing' Peco products is they always read more like a advert, I'd prefer to wait until another mag looks at them.
  7. Funny enough I was in a neighbours loft this morning, 15mm hot pipe (mains pressure as combi boiler) a fitting came off the shower feed from a previous DIY job (Speedfit push fitting onto chrome pipe is a no no) they're away so granny is house sitting and it flooded the house with boiling hot water, She couldn't get near it so came across to me. Turned off in the road immediately but the volume of water in the loft was unbelievable, it had been running for 2-3 minutes. Now I've dried out and heading outside....to get wet in the rain.....going to be one of those days!
  8. I would really appreciate that. I did think about selling the kit on and picking up the Hornby model but I decided that I'd have more enjoyment building the Mallard even if it was a difficult build. It's a little way off as the workbench currently has a master for resin casting some 9T GN 4 plank wagons on it, then I have some more coach kits to build as well as club boards to make, more wiring in the control panel etc etc.........I think you get the picture..
  9. I saw Midland railway supporters going around in pairs at Peterborough on the weekend, they're not up to much on their own so always double up.

    WTF

Forget the cabinet, That's a shocking bit of brickwork !
  11. But that's not a problem as every year they send me an invitation to pay for their "tax enquiry insurance' in case I should be picked for an enquiry. My answer is that if something is wrong and gets flagged up by HMRC I'd want to know why they didn't spot it, The reason that comes back is that I could be chosen at random and that an 'interview' with HMRC would cost £2-3000. I've not paid any of these 'invitations' and the running total if I had would be just over £7,500 .....I nice little earner for no work.

    WTF

I was given the CD for a xmas present last year......I actually put it on the iPod so when things are crap at work I play it to remind myself just how bad things can really be.
  13. I'd agree with this as being the reason. At present I'm converting a shop to residential and it's on the main walking route from the station into town. As people walk by we always say hello or at least acknowledge they are there but we get nothing in response, they either just ignore us or are so wrapped up in their smartphone/ipod they just don't see anyone or thing. Yesterday I was up a ladder with cones around it and it was an eyeopener how many just walked straight through either not seeing it, or ignoring it as it inconvenienced them. Put that behaviour behind the wheel of something with a bit of 'go' and you have a typical selfish driver.
  14. Depending on what you need doing a lot of the work is simple and straightforward. Most I know get their payroll done by accountancy firms and they charge a minimum rate plus an amount per employee. HMRC actually give you all the info as well as calculators to do it yourself. An example was those I had as PAYE, it took me less than 1 hour a month to do the payroll whereas another I know paid just over £700 a year for the same amount of work. I remember when I showed him he said how they'd made out it was really difficult and that only 'accountants' could do the work as HMRC wouldn't accept from anyone else.
  15. That's the way it should be........
  16. That looks excellent. I've got a Mallard D16 in the 'to do' pile but it did go to the bottom when I looked at the chassis. Whenever I think about getting it out there's always lots of wagons to build....luckily...
  17. I actually thought you wanted it to make something with. As this is actually a commercial opportunity it should be in small suppliers rather than skill centre, This section isn't really for trade ads.
  18. Where the LTS crosses Leman St is the 4D model shop, an excellent place to visit in London. https://modelshop.co.uk
  19. I know from talking to people in town that either worked in the shed or picked up from it, that as well as the shunting engine and horses, pinch bars would be used to move wagons inside the shed. This wouldn't be for great distances but van/wagon lengths. Also for ease of unloading a lot of sheds had a small hand crane on the unloading platform that could swing between the wagon and the cart loading bay.
  20. Maybe he uses one under the bed ?
  21. Padstones can be either concrete, steel or engineering brick. What they can't be is soft block or brick. The advantage with the steel pads is they don't need to be so thick and so it doesn't mean chopping down behind the existing ceiling joists.
  22. I've only cast coaches, wagons etc in resin, but I would have thought that the crisp sharp detail on a laser cut face would degrade the mould too quickly to make it viable. At least with SEF (for e.g.) the face allows for easy release.
  23. You're not the first.......
  24. I've had the same accountant since 1988 and I'm happy with him, I would say that if he retires I'd move practise though as I wouldn't trust the rest of them. I'd ask them to quantify the work and why they feel they've been 'underpaid' when they would have set the rate in the first place.
  25. Although you don't want the vac formed type, the reason the Wills are a pain to match is because they aren't a good or accurate impression of brickwork whereas the south Eastern Finecast ones are. Out of interest is there a specific reason for wanting a thick sheet like the Wills in A4 ? if it is to avoid laminating then the large sheet will still need it.
