  1. No he hasn't, the last time I popped in to see him (just pre-Covid) he was busy with family matters. We have corresponded since by letter, so it might be worth dropping him a note and asking if there is something in particular you're looking for.
  2. No idea why the GN opted for that, I can only presume they recruited from travelling circus and tried to get as much as possible for their money....
  3. That's a very hairy top lip on Quim....
  4. That's 'compaction' and every farmer worth his salt knows how to sue for it I remember being told by Eastern Electric engineers, that when they did overhead line work they would book a digger for a day to follow them so that it 'fluffed up' the ground, and broke up any hard pan that had been created. They said that many farmers would lock the gates and try and stop the digger so they could make a very generous claim for lost crops !
  5. You can't go wrong with following Mike Trices method, he's even done videos as well as tutorials.
  6. Michael Vanns did a very good book on GN signalling. https://www.worldofbooks.com/en-gb/books/michael-a-vanns/illustrated-history-of-great-northern-railway-signalling/9780860935452
  7. If you got his reg no report him for not stopping at a collision. Your buckled wheel is proof enough that contact was made.
  8. For a week my Gold was 'turned off' and I had no idea until I tried to list in the classifieds. In that time there were no adverts or videos hence my not realising.
  9. McD's have pushed the concept of the drive thru and promoted it as it reduces the number of staff required to operate a restaurant, that puts the onus on dealing with the rubbish onto the vehicle owner. The reality of that is that tons of non recyclable rubbish is still floating around hedgerows from years ago as so many just threw it out when driving. As for 'Healthy options'.....you must be joking, the salad on it's own is 'Healthy' * but you need to understand the policy of what they want to sell alongside it such as dressings and drinks. (high in salt and sugar) * You have to wonder how they can pre-shred a lettuce and get it to last for 5 days. Eeerrr...I'm afraid it is, I've seen the salt order for the fry station and you would be stunned at just how much is used. You don't really call that 'cheese' do you ? I'm really not a fan of the stuff, it's made family members multi millionaires, but the cost to society and health is too great.
  10. That part is true, unfortunately most McD's rubbish is found further out than the rubbish walks and if short staffed the rubbish walk is the first to be stopped. I lived 5 miles from the nearest McD and I saw no end of rubbish in the street which had been thrown from vehicles as they entered town. I did see a report that identified that 15% of the McD rubbish collected was from drive thru's. It's very keen to promote itself as a green company with Bio-Fuel but it consumes so much that can't be recycled in the first place. Never forget that 4% of a Franchisees budget goes to National advertising so there is a lot of money to tell people how good they are. How do I know? My Sister & BiL are McD's franchisee's (17 stores and counting) and it is a licence to print money fuelled by salt and sugar. You only have to stand the other side of the counter to see the customer base and the obesity. I once commented to them that if they plotted their profit line on a chart, it would be the same as the obesity increase in this country. Having worked(construction) and seen both sides of the counter in some of the popular fast food chains in this country and seen how they operate. I have never stepped through the door and eaten in any since.
  11. It wasn't the headlines but the inference that a specific poster would be along to dispute it. He did post but not in the way presumed and yet it's described as "A Mantrap" as if posted to elicit a specific response, ffs it's like being in Junior School again. In 99% of places I am able to cut through and see a middle ground, but this place is getting way too political.
  12. It is supposed to be a non political thread It is quite obvious in this and other threads that politics are tolerated if left leaning or anti 'B'. I even read a 'B' diatribe in an Accurascale thread a day ago, I reported it but it's still there.
  13. Your response below was a sarcastic dig at John as he obviously doesn't espouse the left wing leanings which are so openly tolerated on this (and other) threads. What John actually said was that everyone has made mistakes and there are things we need to learn.
  14. The above replies are what p!sses me off about so many threads, if you hold a different opinion you are treated as an idiot. Pathetic
  15. Clink the link......go on you know you want to...Hello Boys..
  16. A cocktail party in the borders probably involves a sheep somewhere along the line....Thanks but I think I'll avoid ...
  17. Thanks for the reply Eric. I didn't get hung up on the 'B' word but the writer obviously did. It was obvious that the couple liked living in Spain and their time spent there was obviously curtailed with the 90/180 day time limit. I don't intend travelling abroad for some time, but several that work for and with me have taken a trip abroad to France and Spain in the last few weeks and nearly all had problems going but only 1 had them coming back. The writer claimed that all was well when in reality all countries have got issues. I do agree that the media don't actually give information for around the world, but luckily those overseas members here do give the situation where they are, and without a political spin.
  18. Eeerrr he already does paid work for Warners/BRM
  19. That's exactly how I read it. It compares the UK to another country from a perspective which is clear from the start is not a balanced one. Your posts have read in much the same way to me, but after reading many I'm able to see which viewpoint you're coming from.
  20. In a small village in Scotland (where I am) I have a 50 yr old female neighbour, she is a keen supporter of, and proudly displays her SNP poster and picture of the FM in her window* but is vehemently anti vax. she has a group of friends who are of the same opinion and ignore all and any rules to protect others. She has in the last week returned from 10 days in Spain, she was able to travel without being jabbed as she took a test before travelling in either direction. She has intimated that the return test was purchased rather than actually being taken, but I suspect that to be Bollo.... For a village with a small population just one such person can completely skew the figures. * I mention this not as a political point but because the FM has been lauded for her 'presidential' style of daily addresses to the nation along, with daily public information films. (it's like a nanny state!)
