For me, although I own some RTR I much prefer building my own. In conversation with some club members I was asked why I model the GN, their reasoning was that without anything being manufactured it was too difficult. My response was that as it was difficult I felt it was more worthwhile and certainly more enjoyable.

The Great Northern suburban scheme 1978?
chris p bacon replied to 18B's topic in UK Prototype Questions
My stuff is packed away at present for a house move so I can't confirm, but I think the date you've mentioned is the outer suburban to Royston with the 312's. The inner suburban from WGC & Hertford to Moorgate (313's) was 1976(?) -
A couple of years ago I etched handrails for some Barnums that @JCL made from Card/MDF on a laser cutter. The models were very impressive. There is a spare set left but Jason did mention a couple of weeks ago that he might build some more. I'll check but I suspect that the Handrails were tagged onto a GNR E2 Chassis we were working on at the time.

Just heard on the radio that Bernie Ecclestone has been charged with Fraud by false representation, apparently part of a long running HMRC investigation into his £400,000,000 overseas assets.

It's a private group not open to all.

I understand there's a lot of panting and leg cocking goes on, quite who or what is on a leash is anyones guess

I was reliably informed after meeting a society member there to hand over some archive documents that most of its visitors were those engaged in Dogging 😱....luckily we went in daylight.

There are many waiting to see just what it is they have ordered as comments from KR senior indicate it is a mish mash of several body alterations. Somewhat of a 'Franken Fell'

You should have messaged me John, I'm not that far from Alnwick (just over the border near Kelso) In the last 3 years I've done the A1 so many times from Bedfordshire to Morpeth, then A697(?) to Akeld just North of Wooler before 15 miles on a C road. The 697 is good and the C road is better than the A1 in places. I didn't use the services at all except a Stop at Scotch corner, I also took my own sandwiches as they're dire on the various stops along the way. There is a Greggs at Scotch Corner which was ok for a Tea or coffee, IIRC a hot chocolate was £1.70 in the Greggs (located outside) or £4 in the Costa inside. I've noted the lorries can be quite aggressive but I was generally doing 60-65 in my small truck so not a bit issue for me. Although while towing the digger North one doing an emergency stop as he'd missed an exit got the heart rate going ,as with my foot heavy on the brake and the trailer brakes hard on, his trailer with smoking tyres started to get too close for comfort 😱

This is though an open forum and thread, and while some may read this thread every day (or several times a day) others may only visit occasionally and may want to add a comment, even though others (without moderator status) have decided that the subject is closed. I don't have an opinion either way on Thompson (even Gresley is a little too late for me) but I note that some views are very entrenched and no amount of evidence from either side will change anything.

I haven't a clue, but I know a man who might well do....paging @Compound2632 -
There's this one https://mousa-models.co.uk But it's offline for maintenance. As far as I know this is Bills current site. This post crossed with Bucoops

Thanks for the posts, I never realised there was so much there. -
And yet in a recent 'interview' KR senior stated that he didn't want to deal with shops as they took too much profit.. Go to about 36 minutes in for the retail discussion. I noted the phrase "Retail, they need me more than I need them" When KR started they stated that they would only produce models which were ordered and paid for in advance. If Rails are now an outlet for them, then things have changed.

The Consett wagon looks pretty good, but only after a lot of advice on what was missing from the first sample. As for the GT3, do you mean the first one with its many mistakes that were pointed out but ignored?

That's probably what got the designer in trouble the first time...😀

I noted the light creeping under, but the length of the fish belly should preclude it being tipped forward to a degree where the cab is ‘on the floor’ unless it was propped at the rear, in which case it should be much higher than the 2nd vehicle.

And yet an auto box takes one of the most unreliable factors out of the process, namely the driver.
