  1. Quote from Mallard60022 .... . I'll do that just so I can sound the whistle as it whizzes through my layout station area and hear the Doppler effect; goose bump time for me. (For those that have not had that sensation, imagine Chime through Grantham at about 80m.p.h. You could do that with one of those little MP3 player cards from e-bay playing into a speaker? Triggered by a magnet under the loco and a reed possibly. Emma
  2. The device under the nose is in fact the engine air intake. The oil cooler is the smaller 'pod' under the port wing. ........... jus' sayin' Emma
  3. I preferred when we couldn't see it.............. *washes eyes in steam oil* Emma
  4. That must have been a total 'mare for the fireman! Emma
  5. Could an answer to pickups on this be from the top of the wheels where the tanks cover them? Emma
  6. At the thickness you quote, I think Gimp pins or panels pins maybe an option. Emma

That looks fun! You do have all the bolts to re-assemble it don't you? Emma
  8. Does that not depend on which side you're looking at? Emma
  9. Hummm............................. I'm probably going to cause ructions with this - but here goes.......... It seems odd that having taken over a company that is possibly most people's choice for buying track components, Phil* has managed to arrange himself into a corner. He seems to have little time available to pick, pack and send orders whilst 'on shed' because he has shows to attend. Looking at the show diary, it would appear he will be inordinately busy packing, attending then unpacking for shows, all with the attendant travel too. Now this wouldn't be an issue if you could collect at shows , but on the front of his site it states - I am suspending the arrangement for the time being of orders to be collect at show as this has had a big impact on my time when I should be restocking the stand their are some exceptions to this rule by arrangement. I am concerned that if this situation continues, will C + L be up for sale again soon? Emma *I couldn’t find the gentleman's surname
  10. Indeed, hobbies are for enjoyment. go enjoy yourself sirrah! best wishes - Emma
  11. Many thanks for that. A great help to us mathematically challenged and numerically dyslexic modellers Emma
  12. Well, that will be me told then Mr. Wright I wasn't aware that the blocks weren't yet present and thought the shape presented itself to suit the wheel radius the other way up. Mea Culpa. Emma
  13. Make sure you get some slide oil on the slides to keep them bright while you’re waiting to use that splendid looking device! Emma
  14. Errmmm........ we don't call it Celotex. Celotex is a polyurethane foam, the pink or blue stuff is extruded polystyrene. Emma
  15. That looks very good indeed........I tip my tin hat to you! Emma

  17. The van with platform mounted cylinders is a 25T van ,,,,, 15T vans didn't have sandboxes later in their lives, or cylinders on the platforms. Your kit looks like it might be a 25T version, you can tell by checking the solebar depth (9" or 12"). Care is needed to determine the right numbers/paint as there a a whole raft of different flavours of these vehicles! Emma
  18. Indeed....... LEDs are current sensitive devices. You MUUST ALWAYS limit the current flow across them. 1Kohm on 9-12v is a good starting point. Emma

Such sad news,my deepest sympathy to you.

  20. I thought that sort of scheme might be in the mix. I think a length of wire (piano/bike spoke) would be the trick Emma
  21. Why do you not want to employ something like wire in tube? It is a very simple an tidy means to an end. Even a pushrod may do want you want, with a hole in the end of the tiebar and maybe something as simple as panel/moulding pins in pairs to create a guideway? Emma
  22. Sharpening/regrinding 0.5mm drill bits is very difficult.......
