    EBay madness

Ah but, (me again!) the centre wheels have the screw which ISTC holds the entire connecting rod in place !! For a tenner plus post, I suppose there must be some recyclable bits.....in fairness, it only needs re-wheeling, the boiler shortening to fit the 4-4-2 arrangement, the tender wheels replacing, some better less-crude couplings.....before emptying it all into the nearest wheelie bin

Now this is a new slant on railway layouts........I appreciate it is probably for viewing on a tablet but when you rotate the tablet, does it compensate for the sideways - and in two photos, both upside down - view ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Extensive-Hornby-OO-Gauge-Railway-Layout-/271657542094?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f400d21ce
  3. Then again, some of us are too embarrassed to ask......
  4. As David obviously knows, we bathed once a week since the 'bathroom' hung on a large nail just outside the kitchen door........ And the old joke was the ladies who went to stay in a posh hotel from Monday to Thursday and raved on about the beautiful bathroom. Questioned as to their bathing experience, they replied ' Oh no, we couldn't have a bath as we were not there on the Friday night'. True in our house as it was Harry Davidson on the Light Programme with 'Those Were The Days', followed by 'Friday Night is Music Night'..... It don't seem that long ago....he lied !

I think it might be called 'madness' if these models - from the '0 gauge'* section of Ebay.de were to turn up here with the RM.... http://www.ebay.de/itm/Felina-Bugel-BH-Passion-Spitze-/351239735325?pt=DE_Modellbau_Modelleisenbahnen&var=&hash=item51c785081d *perhaps I should have said 'Spur 0h' as they certainly do; now if only I can remember why

Amazing land - Walmart will not sell alcohol but they will sell you a hunting rifle. And the middle word here - Chorlton-***- Hardy was removed by a website as being offensive - I substituted the word 'come' instead, which doesn't sound much better !!

Ah but, (becoming my standard intro !) it 'could be used for static display'.......as against what use, precisely ?

Ah, but 'photographs form part..........' so I shall simply download the photos and enjoy them....much cheaper
  10. Yes, you are quite right, but why is it necessary for some exhibitors to arrive hours before the exhibition starts ? And then look down their noses at us 'latecomers' struggling to occupy the space kindly marked for us by the exhibition manager. It is almost as if we have broken some unwritten rule by arriving less than an hour before the start time.
  11. Many times have we arrived as usual some 45 minutes* before the show starts, only to have to fight to gain our space - some 20 feet by 8 feet for 'Winterschlaf' - from someone with a postage-stamp layout on one end of the space and at the other end, the overflow of food bags, rolling stock boxes, etc., etc.. Okay, rant over *It takes just 20 minutes to put up the layout and start train movement....and about 25 minutes to dismantle and wave goodbye ! The famous 'departure' was many years ago when we passed a bemused modeller beginning to unscrew his layout boards - yes with a cordless drill !!
  12. Happens quite often here with parcel delivery firms who employ a private individual - with local knowledge - for the latter part of the delivery. Quite logical in our village as there are no numbers on our road and our full postcode - PE (Peterborough) just to confuse matters - covers some 24 properties spread over a mile of this, the Main Road (otherwise known as the A16).
  13. I'm a yellow-belly....luckily no-one knows where we are And with the smell of those rotting vegetables, probably no-one wants to know !! Said it before some clever Richard thinks of it........

Sadly, it is simply the scale and gauge that somehow bumps up the price by a factor well out of line with the equivalent volume. Then of course, you have to find the folk to buy it; what else would they compare it with ? Given the large number of 'O' gauge 'kit-built' locos that this firm are offering at present, could it be that someone is building kits for them?
