  1. You're right. Just checked - it was a 57xx - to become 3641 in S7 (eventually!) Dave
  2. See here: http://www.modernoutline.co.uk/modern_outline_008.htm You need to specify 54xx or 64xx at the time of ordering. Didn't I buy a 64xx kit from you a couple of years ago Mark? Dave
  3. You don't need to doctor anything as MOK do a 64xx version to take the smaller wheels!
  4. Now that is a serious 'minimum space' layout! 24" x 9" would be a challenge in 2mm scale!

Here's one of a similar vintage (but in rather poorer condition) and shows it in use as a rear view mirror. Dave

  7. Copy and paste the link from the 'share' option Dave Folks - please note this is Jon Fitness' work - not mine! I just posted the correct link to embed Jon's YouTube video. All praise goes to him please!
  8. I just tried that. Baggy eyes and wrinkles. Am I using it correctly?Dave
  9. Try http://www.touchcab.com and follow the link to the App Store. Open in iTunes and away you go. I've no idea why the App Store search doesn't find it. Dave
  10. Simon Glad the articles were helpful! I have one of these in the stash so I now have two builds to help me! Cheer Dave

Roxey also do one http://www.roxeymouldings.co.uk/product/172/7rv1-3-ton-scammell-mechanical-horse-and-trailer/ Dave

  13. Interestingly, this photo has always been described as being of ex-P&M 1152 - even by ColourRail who sell copies of it (they have been informed of the error!). 1152 had a completely open cab rear! The 7 Swansea Peckett Es were a very varied bunch - no two were the same and their idiosyncracies enable them to be identified accurately even when the numberplate is obscured. The giveaway here is the rear coupling. 1151 has the same 2-long-link rear coupling - the only loco to do so. Edit: see this taken on the same day. Cheers Dave
  14. I suspect that we can safely eliminate a GWR 42xx from next weeks announcement! Dave
  15. I can't recall where I got the image but it may have been from here. The date is 1947. If you do build it as 968, please invest in some Severnmill numberplates. It was kind of Minerva to provide some but they are just not good enough and let the model down. 968 was still wearing its 'old' plates until at least June 1951.
  16. Simon I don't want to spoil your day, but..... Dave
  17. SimonI'm not sure how that will help! Dave

Chaz. A further thought. The witness mark of the bogie spring ends at the chassis fixing screw. Presumably at this place, the bogie can move further in its arc but the spring wire is now opposing it just on one side. Does this impose a longitudinal rolling force to the bogie lifting one wheel slightly - enough to cause a derailment? Dave
  19. Instead of making individual turnouts you might want to consider building some or all of the track work as a single module. It will greatly assist keeping the flow of the plan. Dave
  20. Building says 'Saltdean Brewing Company', but the wagon says 'Saltdean Brewery Company'. Is there a signwriter now looking for a new situation? Dave

Thanks for the tip! Ordered one of these from Germany on Wednesday evening. Delivered this morning. Looks bigger and better 'in the flesh'! Cheers Dave
  22. Whilst the jig is ingenious, your result has a significant flaw. Before filing both the the point rail and the splice rail, you need to introduce a bend first to preserve the web of the rail. You have completely filed through the web leaving the top and bottom of the rail unconnected at the tip of the crossing. See here for an explanation by Martin Wynne of Templot fame of what needs to be done: http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_post.php?post_id=1488 Dave
