Richard is often to be found behind the Meteor Models stand at exhibitions and there are often his latest resin castings for sale on the stand. Most recently, there were his resin GWR 9' fishbelly coach bogie kits and alternative wagon ends to convert the Slaters dia W1/5 Cattle Wagon to Dia W8 or W10. An approach via Meteor might get you somewhere.
  2. Which particular MMP steam locomotive did you have in mind? Let's have a look at some other 2-8-0s - MOK Stanier 2-8-0 for £485, Slaters GWR/BR 28xx 2-8-0 for £473 David Andrews GWR/BR 47xx 2-8-0 for £359 Martin Finney GWR/BR 47xx 2-8-0 for £422 DJH LMS/BR Jubilee 4-6-0 (no 2-8-0s listed!) for £540 £450 seems to be in the ball park. BTW, the link above for the ex-Snowhill, now Roxey, Austerity 2-8-0 should be http://www.roxeymouldings.co.uk/product/686/7l18-wd-austerity-2-8-0/ The link in post #395 is for the 2-10-0. Dave
  3. I want a foddle yard too. Plans please! Dave
  4. I suppose you could call 20 years an 'extended test'! I hope it continues to work for you on Cwm Bach. Cheers Dave
  5. Hi Chris Has this system of rodding had an extended 'test'? My concern is the soldered attachment of the horizontal drive rod to the vertical tube. This tube is moving in a small arc so that at the soldered joint there is a twisting action every time the point is operated which must surely lead to failure of the joint. Cheers Dave
  6. You'll remember mine which I bought from EDM with DCC sound and a stay alive fitted: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/78328-ixion-0-gauge-fowler-diesel-loco/?p=1295273 Super fun. It's going to Colin Dowling soon to be S7'd Dave
  7. I shall have one too even though they were very rarely seen in South Wales - until now! Another application of Rule 1 is in order, methinks.
  8. The Ixion Manning Wardle 'H' probably.
  9. It seems that the incompetence has also extended to failing to update their website or, e.g. UK Model Shops Exhibition Diary etc. Thanks for the heads-up. Dave
  10. I had an email from Dave Sharp on Weds evening regarding ScaleSeven support: "I think what we are going to do with the S7 side of it is to produce a supplementary etch kit with the additional frame spacers etc on it and also any castings required that are affected by the wider frame spacing. It would be very much as we did with the BR 4MT tank. As with the 4MT it means that unfortunately the S7 modeller will have to pay extra for this kit as there will be only be very small numbers for us to recover pattern and mould costs against. I am afraid until I get something designed then I can't be too specific about what will be needed in the supplementary kit." Dave
  11. Even that will depend on whether the loco has been cooled and watered before or after turning. A tender may or may not have, say, 5 tons of coal and 4000 gallons of water (18 tons) so the balance point will not be consistent. I suspect that experienced crews in those days will have done their best to minimise the effort of pushing the table round. Famously, so did Minehead.
  12. Surely the centre of balance of a loco + tender is not likely to be the exact midpoint of its overall length. Thus the extra table length allows crews to manoeuvre the loco physically off-centre to keep the table balanced.
  13. Go to the first post of this thread. Click on 'Edit' and then click on 'Use Full Editor'. That allows you to change the thread title amongst other things such as description and tags. Dave
  14. Sit down and then try:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/O-gauge-Sanspareil-Modern-outline-kits-SR-Lord-Nelson-4-6-0-loco-and-tenderkit-/221292185217 Wheels, motor, gearbox extra! Dave
  15. A further bit of research suggests that it may be a Sans Pareil kit designed by Dave Sharp - brass etches instead of the NS in his later MOK kits. All is explained! I shall enjoy watching the build - as ever! Dave
  16. So is it a 'King Arthur' class then? Dave
  17. You are correct but probably looking in the wrong place. The reference is in the G0G forum from LSWRArt in a thread called Rolling Roofs. Just search on Lyme Regis and you'll go almost directly there. Cheers Dave
  18. Markits buffers 'spring' to mind, but there are other lots of other options. If you can wait until Kettering you should be spoilt for choice! Dave
  19. I discovered the longevity of the 'feature' by accident and did give a caution about potential consequences in my review, but the CV mod is a top tip. Thanks. Dave
  20. If you would like a copy of the Scorpio catalogue then PM me and I'll send a scanned copy. Rather than spend time making your own list of websites, the G0G has a Traders Directory which will list sources of kits, part etc from any manufacturer whether they have a website or not. It's an invaluable resource and should be the first port-of-call when trying to source 7mm scale items. Dave
  21. You might want to take a look at Duncan Models under 'Assorted Detailing Items'. There are a couple of similar but not identical cranes there which may have the 'look' that you want.http://www.duncanmodels.co.uk/assorted_detailing_items_price_list_main.htm Dave
  22. David That's exactly why my proposed layout Aldbourne is stalled at the moment. Having created and printed the plan at full size in Templot, I found that what seemed like a good idea on a sheet of A4 was not what I wanted when expanded to 12' x 3'. I find myself removing track to allow more space for scenic work to give a sense of place and of why the railway was there at all. Less is certainly more. East Dean, Penhydd and others all illustrate that so well. Dave
