  1. All of the photos that I have of all of the Swansea Peckett E locos (there were 6 of them) at all dates have the rectangular plate.Dave
  2. Before you start, check the buffer centres. You may well find them too close together - a problem with several JLTRT wagon kits. Dave
  3. and the reference: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/51710-kevs-7mm-workbench-a-couple-of-recent-builds/?p=1264262 Dave
  4. You might not be aware that there was/is an issue with the JLTRT Fruit van (and others) buffer spacing. You might want to check buffer centres before going further. Dave

    Dock Green

Very smooth when I watched it. Great stuff! Dave
  6. You hum it, Simon, we'll all follow!
  7. At over £1200 a time for a new DCC-fitted 4575 class, I suspect that repainting, unless VERY professionally done (extra cost) could see its resale hugely reduced. A cheaper option might be to shift the time period of the layout! Dave
  8. Modellers' Backtrack Vol 3 issue 3 p134 et seq. Dave
  9. I think you'll find he did! Look again at the photo!
  10. I'm sure they are - it's just their staff who are not.
  11. Just to complete the Swansea E class roundup: 1141 (as 929) had rectangular-end rods pre-war 1150 had round-end rods on withdrawal in 1952
  12. Further to the above, 1145 appears to have had rectangular until withdrawal in 1959. 1151, as 779, (pre-war before the fitting of cab shutters which it kept until withdrawal) had rectangular-end rods. 1152 appears to have had rectangular rods throughout.
  13. Perhaps, but SHT W.no 1053 had the tank lifting eyes but W no. 1105 did not. All of the P & M Pecketts had them. 1179 & 1328 both had open rears to the cabs but all of the other P & M and SHT had closed cabs with spectacle windows. All of them had bells and whistles!
  14. David I have already posted 2 photos on this thread of Class E Pecketts. E.g. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96810-minerva-model-railways-a-new-o-gauge-manufacturer-is-launched-and-announces-peckett-e-class/?p=1813485 shows, amongst other things, a straight handrail on the front of the smokebox, tank lifting rings, different safety valve arrangement etc. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96810-minerva-model-railways-a-new-o-gauge-manufacturer-is-launched-and-announces-peckett-e-class/?p=1814204 shows another but perhaps closer to the Minerva variant. No fewer than 7 of the Class E locos were Swansea-based for most of their working lives. Works no 1054 (shown by Lux as Loughor Colliery) was P&M no. 11 and became GWR 927. Dave
  15. You can also see a typical misspelling of 'nickel' in the same place!
  16. This mythical item was first discussed (from memory) about Feb 2013 so has now had its 2nd birthday as a topic but is yet to be born as a product. Why not contact Peco? You could have learned to build your own turnouts and completed a layout while waiting for them to produce anything! Dave
  17. Scale Model Trains Sept 1985 according to the G0G Magazine Digest listing.
  18. Like this? Fiddle yard exit behind the loco between the chandlers and shipping company offices!
  19. Tony, That book remains to be written but there have been a number of useful magazine articles in recent years: Railway Bylines July 2004 GWR Journal 42 - Spring 2002 Steam Days Sept 2013 I have been planning a SHT-based model for some time and have been accumulating lots of photos and maps etc. The photo that Chris K included in post 76 was one that I sent him after chatting at Kettering. Here's the same train a few minutes earlier: I have scanned ecopies of the mag articles if you need them. Cheers Dave
  20. Or maybe this one? This is a Peckett R4 according to the Denman book on Nevills Dock & Railway Company.
  21. Tony I don't want to turn this into an argument. SHT had delivered as new works nos. 1053, 1105 and 1522 in 1906/8/15 as SHT nos. 11,12 & 18. P & M had delivered as new works nos 1054, 1179, 1328 and 1449 in 1907/12/13/16 as P & M nos. 11,12, 3 and 4. Sources are various - but among them Railway Bylines July 2004, GWR.ORG.UK, Wiki etc. which I will admit are not primary sources but are consistent with other respected authorities - e.g. RCTS Locomotives of the GWR part 10. P & M never had a loco no.13. Cheers Dave
  22. Dunno about the others, but P&M x 4 and SHT x 3 is the accurate figure.Dave
