  1. If I have a ticket from London to Bristol, can I get off at Swindon, go round Steam and get back on to resume my journey?

I'd still double check with the Train Manager or whatever they are called these days

Provided it is valid on any service, rather than a particular one, you can break your journey.

      Go to

      www.brfares.com

Put in your journey, click on the ticket type you want and it will give you all the restrictions.

  2. Ok so if I'm reading this correctly, the 060 and 040 models are unchanged. Feels very short sighted to me making half the range DCC ready and not the rest... Think I will stick to the 2nd hand market for Thomas & Percy and look at the new range to tender engines. My 2 year old is able to use a 511 already, so will definitely end up giving her a DCC ready Thomas layout...
  3. Was going to go to Warley, instead taking my daughter to see Thomas the Tank at Dean Forrest Railway. Sounds much more fun!

      MGR Hooper!

That's being a good dad...! Hope there's more like you.

  4. Going to be interested to see if the chassis gets an upgrade. A decent running mech. Should be enough to convince me to buy new, rather than picking stuff up off eBay. My daughter is already taking a lot of interest in Thomas, and a basic Thomas train set will be a perfect third birthday present. Just leaves me a year to get everything and get it built...
  5. Amazed, today the wifi on the GWR HST to Paddington is actually working! Wonder if Iberia can follow this with something edible en route to Madrid...

      In my experience, no...

(Iberia provide something edible, that is)

Oddly enough the answer to both was no, Iberia ran out of the meat offering leaving cheese and apple pasta. And the GWR wifi had died before the train even reached Swindon...

  6. They also have another (static) replica hall in universal studios. Very convincing
  7. Lorry looks awesome, still can't believe this was done in 2mm As for the mk1 cav. My grandparents had one when I was little, I remember being driven around Salisbury sliding around the back seat (given no rear seat belts.)
  8. Definitely interested in seeing more photos, looking forward to getting hold of one to go under the Bachmann body I bought a while back!
  9. Just passed the 57 at OOC, does look rather smart with the logos. Very similar to the original GWT 47s. The new logo is quite nice, and I did like the Great Western Railway announcements at BRistol before I left. Just think the coaches need a contrasting colour to the green, a nice Ivory top half of the coach ala GWT would be perfect....
  10. Plenty of chassis photos at any rate, though it's a bit more tricky trying to take detail shots with a toddler in tow...
  11. Morning all, 6412 at Buckfastleigh last week, sadly just after they turned down the steam heat that was escaping over the platform...
  12. Saw a power car on the back of a lorry yesterday, in overcast conditions. My word it looks dull! Surprised they are releasing them from the works without the vinals as they really do look drab in anything but perfect light.
  13. Very proud, had my daughter wave at a train for the first time today as we were walking along the sea wall at Teignmouth

What a fabulous image you painted there Rich.

Nothing more heartwarming, when I take the train to Torquay I always wave back, there's something old fashioned about it.

Off to the South Devon tomorrow to show her some proper trains...

  14. Supposed to be making a holiday visit to DRAZ tonight, but wife coming down with a bug leaves me in the cottage looking after a toddler who won't sleep...

  15. Spent the evening building my 19month old daughters interactive Chuggington train set. Now on EBay finding more bits for it...

Now thinking that if I add a fill it of micro strip on the inside of each "rail", it would narrow the gauge to something closer to that of the bogie. Or I can stop over thinking it.....

Yeah, you have to go Brio.

My daughter is 4 week old but long before she was born I got her a brio. I can't wait to play with it :D

  16. Looking forward to seeing this progress, absolutely facing the by the L&B. What's your plan for the locks and rolling stock?
  17. I don't blame you, I've rebranded one Great crest Western tender (Hornby) into 1947 condition and it was a nightmare. The crest in particular has so many layers by the time I removed it I was through the surrounding paint! Shirt button (or for that matter BR crests) are a lot easier to convert! very glad that Hattons are offering the post war livery and saving me a job on the king!
  18. That is stunning, now get on and build a layout for it... Will look up the gangways, something which is missing from my rake! (And you know it makes sense to do a Merlin rake.)
  19. Thanks for sharing, looks a perfect solution to my fiddleyard
  20. I've been thinking about going down this route, so would be interested to hear how well it works in the context of a continuous run, my fiddle yard is going to be very restricted in space, and currently have 5 long rakes planned plus the local stuff. So need some way of getting it to fit...
  21. A30 it is then, which is what I thought at the time I was taking the photos. What date are the seat coverings from? Another caption update to correct this evening...
