  7. Had a Hornby 66 that was poor on running with a TTS decoder so did a web search and found out that by setting CV150 to 1 should help which to my surprise it did so did not have to go any further as now runs really well so very happy .So a bit of time on the web and one adjustment and cured the problem

    TTS CV setting

Put a CD motor in one of my class 37 then put a TTS decoder in it was jerky and put it to one side did a bit of search on web and found that by setting CV150=1 CV153=215, CV154=0.That sorted it out also put a better speaker in it so a happy bunny

    Lima DCC sound

Read through this and some of the comments are a bit off if you have a poor running loco a new CD style motor is easy enough to do a search of the bay will often find them and often cheaper than new brushes etc al so turns your loco in to a fair runner i tend to use TTS for sound with a better speaker if you can solder then the job is even easier so give it a go the more on or in a loco the easier it is to break them
  11. A lot of systems out there simple starter set the Bachmann basic 10 button one often in the train set not bad but limited functions but a easy start into DCC , gaugemaster dco1 not to bad a system ,you will open a big can of worms on this one but plenty under your limit a quick google search will bring up a lot Digitrax, Nce,Lenz so look round and if you see one that you like ask on here for further help
  12. May be a cheap option would be a pencil and note book works for me (will go lay down in a dark room)

  14. Even better a colour tv with valves need a fork lift truck to move them use to throw them about as easy as anything and they need two to move a flat screen
  15. My old avo 8 gives a good reading on DCC set to AC but the digital meter is all over the place
  16. Not going to service Lima motors any more just going to change them for the CD type cheap enough on the bay and takes about the same amount of time, plus side you get a far better running loco, only got a end to end layout so slow running is important to me the layout is DCC
  17. Looks very interesting good start will watch to see how it develops a very good start
  18. A lot of fault finding hold up to bright and see if there is a crack in it ,can you get rid of the pcb and hard wire it ,vero board i think it is called could be used to replace pcb,do not know if a new board is available ,i am sure others will be able to give you more info but from what you have put i would think pcb
  19. If this is how to power it why not put a on/off switch in
  20. And to think they were only meant as a stop gap what a loco they turned out to be
