That will almost certainly happen if you try & clean any water based acrylics out of the brush with cellulose thinners, not just Citadels. For example Valejo, Lifecolor, Revell, Humbrol etc.. They should only be cleaned out with water, or for stubborn deposits something like Isopropyl alchohol or specific airbrush cleaners can be used, although if I use IPA I'll always finally flush the brush through with water. The problem is in the terminology, as Tamiya and others such as Gunze Mr.Color (the non 'aqeous' type) are what are now termed 'laquer' based acrylics. These can be thinned/cleaned with cellulose, their own thinners or even some window cleaners/screenwash solutions (they're useful as they're cheap!). You can easily tell the difference between the two, as the laquer based acrylics have a very much stronger smell than water based ones which have little or no smell. One other thing to watch for if you use cellulose thinners through some airbrushes is to check what the internal seals are made from. Both my Iwata's are no longer in use as they have rubber seals which have disintegrated through repeated use of cellulose thinner. I've replaced them with a Harder and Steenbeck Ultra and an Evolution, both of which have PTFE solvent resistant seals Keith
  2. just don't start me off about people abusing disabled parking spaces.....And Tesco seem to be one of the worst for it. Our local one often has over 50% of the spaces occupied by cars not displaying a blue badge. I've given up complaining to 'customer services' about it....
  3. It seems to me they'd only be crash worthy against a slowly ridden pushbike....
  4. What a totally awful machine! I'm so glad I haven't seen one on the road for as long as I can remember! Why anyone would want to waste time, effort & not least money on one is beyond me! Quite enjoyed the video though! Keith
  5. I agree with preferring the larger group. Keith

I also think that the 'liberties' you have taken Chaz are not so obvious given Dock Green's urban location, where space is often going to be at more of a premium compared to a typical countryside BLT where the railway would normally have found it much easier to aquire landand spread out more.... And even given said liberties, DG is still high up on my list of all time favourite layouts - the quality of your modelling certainly helps disguise them too! Keith

I wouldn't necessarily have thought so Chaz, ground conditions differ all over the place, there could have been a muddier puddle immediately under the tender steps, leading to boots leaving more earthy tones on them. I think your weathering looks very natural as is, and making areas 'match' could lead to it looking more formulaic. Just my opinion of course... Cracking pictures, thanks for taking the time to post them. I really believe I'm doomed to ever see Dock Green live though - we were in Hampshire again this weekend, but were up for a family 'event' on Saturday, and of course it was Mother's Day on Sunday, so no chance of sneaking away for a few hours... Keith
  8. Isn't memory a weird thing - it must be 50 years or more when my late dad had a Hillman Super Minx with rubber mats that had 'Austin of America' embossed on them! I'll never know where they came from or why they fitted a Hillman so well! But I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday...!! Keith
  9. Couldn't agree more! Looks like the option of throwing money at a Mini to be able to sell it is going to be our only option. I can't work on it anymore & the boy has so many other things on that he doesn't have the time, and he wants the proceeds to put towards the business he wants to start....Meanwhile it's sat in the garage, no doubt getting rustier by the day. Bloody cars! Keith
  10. Having missed the preceding posts, I thought you had a Batman fantasy for a short while there...
  11. Funnily enough, I've just been doing some 'research' on mining activities, and although not directly related to batteries, (although it might be relevent with the ever increasing numbers of electronic driver 'aids' that are now apparently essential in modern cars) I found this quite interesting; "Levels of metals recycling are generally low. Unless future end-of-life recycling rates are stepped up, some rare metals may become unavailable for use in a variety of consumer products. Due to the low recycling rates, some landfills now contain higher concentrations of metal than mines themselves."
  12. And, as the things are now basically designed and sold as disposable goods, there's all the end of life disposal/recycling problems of things like all the batteries used in electrics/hybrids that will only become worse the more of the things that are made. And how many run of the mill cars or vans will now last even 20 years, let alone 51?!
  13. Do you know, I thought that just as I hit post on my last one...!!
  14. Common and current they might well be now, but it's surprising how quickly they become not so common. I loved my Mk1 Focus Zetec 'Sport' - OK the Sport appelation was a bit of a misnomer, but with slightly uprated suspension, a very willing 1.8 petrol engine & a 3 door shell with nice 17 inch alloys, it was a good looking and rather pleasant car to drive, Ultra reliable too. Can't recall the last time I saw a similar model, & it would only be 14 years old now.... Keith
  15. I couldn't believe it when we first visited daughter & family in Hampshire that they've never heard of rissoles. How can you have chip shops that don't sell rissoles? Madness. And our local chippies must be amongst the most sophisticated in the Kingdom, with two types of curry sauce (chip shop & Chinese), gravy, mushy peas and chip baps all readily available. And rissoles of course, mustn't forget the rissoles.... Keith
  16. You'll need a big saddle to fit that....
  17. Trouble is, when that happens they'll sell it to the Americans who will then change it....
  18. That's why I for one haven't mentioned watching it, as I don't, as like you I have about zero interest in American cars. Although I did used to enjoy 'Overhaulin', maybe because I really liked Foose's artwork that he produced showing his vision for the finished car..... Keith
