  1. I was wondering if that 1:1 model could be used to lay up fibreglass panels.... Keith
  2. Agreed, it's the one I'd take home out of the three!
  3. That's a very pretty tree Rob, and being awkward I like it where it is! I think the scene in the pic in post #4240 is very idylic! We have plenty of hydrangeas in the garden, hadn't even considered using bits of them for trees! Dumb question of the day, you say it's a 'dried' flower head. how long did you dry it out for? (and how, stick it in the airing cupboard or somesuch?) Keith
  4. That's very cool! Bet it's not a cheap motorsport....!! Keith
  5. Not a very good replica though - the steering wheel is on the wrong side...!!
  6. But don't forget the huge dollops of imagination and modelling skill that make them all come together in totally believable & atmospheric layouts - you can't buy those 'ready to plant'....!! Keith
  7. Interesting info., thanks. But as mentioned by other posters just about anythiing would open & start early Escorts!
  8. Seems a common feature of many Fords of the era - opened the door of my Escort & started it using my mate's Hillman Imp door key! However my Escort key wouldn't open the Imp....
  9. Someone is very fortunate to be taking delivery of such a lovely layout, hope it gives them many years of pleasure....(I know it would if I were the lucky buyer!) Keith
  10. I think lots of 60's/70's cars had seats like that - I remember drilling holes in the floor in my first rally Escort to use exhaust 'U' clamps to bolt the standard seats to the floor, until I could afford proper competition seats! Recall friends with a Mini & Hillman Imp doing the same...
  11. Exactly what I did this year - it was only a few months ago that my son's friend made us aware of the upcoming 'rule change' - that isn't really a change, but I thought I may as well get in the habit! If anything had needed doing I'd have just left it with him to sort. It suits me fine to always take my car to him for the test - he's not the cheapest (or the most expensive) but I do know he'll do a proper, fair test on the car. And luckily it passed first time again last month, this time with no advisories either!
  12. Luckily they'd probably be MoT exempt now though...!! I do wonder how you drive one though, when you're flat on your back on the rear seat looking at the headlining....?!

Many thanks Chaz, that's very helpful - it should solve a problem that I've had trying to use foamboard in the past! Also, do you think I could borrow your time machine when you're not using it.....?! Keith

I'm probably being thick Chaz, but I can't picture what you mean by 'dovetailed' pins - would you happen to have a photo that illustrates this? Keith
  15. Reading through the new items to be tested, it seems to me that many competition cars won't be able to pass the test without some serious modifications; For example; The vehicle will be inspected to check that: the mandatory seatbelts are in place, they are suitable for the vehicle, they are in a good condition, they work properly and they are attached securely - Most road legal competition cars won't have 'mandatory' seatbelts fitted - the standard fronts replaced by harnesses & the rears removed completely Seats These will be inspected to check that: the driver’s seat can be adjusted, and all seats are securely fitted and that seat backs can be fixed in the upright position - Most rally cars have both front seats fixed for added safety & the rear again removed completely (unless it's a road rally car, either modern or historic) I hope some sensible exemptions will be made for such cars, or I can see our Mini finally getting scrapped, I'm fed up enough with the amount of money endless daft MSA rule changes are costing without the added expense of getting a car that's safer than an equivalent road car through its MOT....
  16. According to my son's mate who owns our local MoT station it has actually always been the case but is another 'non enforced law'. Makes sense when you think about it, as once a car fails the test it's deemed to be unroadworthy & therefore to drive it away from the centre after a failure is technically illegal, irregardless that there might still be a month left on its previous cert...!!
  17. Ah, the usual course of action by most councils...!
  18. So what'll happen if the government pass this proposed law to fine people who park on pavements? Exemption for such pre-existing spaces?
  19. I thought Nidge would be more interested in it if it was an ex- Sweeney car rather than a Special Branch one....

Can I ask Chaz, is Kappa board the same as 'foam board'? (i.e. the stuff that is lightweight foam sandwiched between two layers of what I believe to be some kind of paper/card and that can be bought in places like Hobbycraft, rather than 'foamex', the more solid plastic sheet that signwriters use?) Keith
  21. No, not that one, it's in the big bushes next to the neighbours red Focus. Some kind of 30's replica kit car/van I think...

Which might be the reasons it's one of my favourites! Although as I always manage to keep missing seeing it for real I don't know how fast the trains move - it's difficult to judge speeds in still photo's...! And although I do like blue diesels, I'm always happy to see the green ones. Some more of which wouldn't go amiss Chaz...!! Keith
  23. There's also 'something' being reclaimed by nature in the bushes to the right of them. I have no idea of how to drive google street view so wouldn't be able to find it again!
  24. I guess Mr. Martin hadn't seen or heard of 'Red Victor' then....!!
  25. I'm not jealous, no sir, not at all, not jealous in the slightest....
