  1. I have just learned that John Hayes has died. John was a founder member of the Scalefour Society and the NLG and most gifted model maker. He contributed a lot to Heckmondwyke and he had the respect and affection of all who met him. A great loss. Regards
  2. The CMRA modeller's day is on at Parmiters School this coming Saturday the 16th. See http://www.cmra.org.uk/time.html Regards
  3. The latest newsletter has just a few minutes ago popped into my email inbox and is attached below. NEWSLETTER JUNE 2016.pdf Regards
  4. I haven't ever been to Switzerland, an omission that will probably never be rectified, but I think it ought to be said that photos of Swiss railways show that the Swiss implementation of this design is an awful lot neater than the NR one. Heath Robinson is alive and well at NR! Regards
  5. Don't you think this is more than a little condescending?
  6. I haven't seen the new livery on a HST but the DMUs seem to be increasingly common. I like the shade used, although I'm having difficulty describing it: is it a grey/green or a green/grey? The use of matt panels on the otherwise gloss finish is a nice touch. Regards
  7. Thank you for that, but traffic into Bath in the summer is just plain horrendous, hence the request for info about Park and Ride. I haven't visited this show since it moved from Bradford-upon-Avon and it doesn't look as I'll be doing so anytime soon. Have a nice show, I'm sure it will be most enjoyable, but a show in Bath in the summer is a big no no. Regards
  8. The English Riviera Model Railway Club doesn't have a web presence. I think, given the circumstances, that it's a fiction. Regards
  9. Up and Down Fast, Up and Down Slow, Up Goods Relief or Loop if you prefer.
  10. Is there a 'Park&Ride' that will take me to the venue? Regards
  11. I think it will require rather more than a simple upgrade! The relief line through Iver has flatbottom rail with pandrol clips and wooden sleepers merging into bullhead rail with Great Western pattern concrete sleepers and two hole chairs. But I get your drift. There is no sign of any signalling having been done to support two way running yet, perhaps I missed it. Regards
  12. I spent an hour or so 'observation ' at Iver on Wednesday and was surprised to find that the up goods relief line is being electrified. Regards
  13. The way of the world I'm afraid. I think the price is a perfectly reasonable one but then I won't be buying, it's well outside my area/period. It's interesting that Kernow have gone for a prototype that has such a limited life and area of use. Regards
  14. I took a look at the example on KWVR several years ago, it is the right hand. Regards
  15. Are these wagons still in use and can anyone please point me to a photo source if they are? Regards
  16. Is it possible to do a cut&shut to produce a centre car? Regards
  17. The Group's calendar for the rest of the year: Meetings are held at St Andrew's Church Hall, Church Road, Watford, WD17 4PY, and start at 8pm Sunday 26th June: Outing to Severn Valley Railway Monday 25th July: Modelling Workshop Monday 22nd August: Test track and Modelling Evening Monday 26th September: Talk (subject TBA) Monday 24th October: Modelling Workshop Monday 28th November: Film Night Monday 19th December: Christmas Social, with test track. Regards
  18. A few photos: Callowland Fostup Watford, London and Birmingham Railway Demonstrators Test Track To my disappointment most of the photos on the test track were way out of focus, sorry. That's it. An enjoyable afternoon, nicely organised, but attendance was a disappointment. Regards
  19. Can you bring the Pug as well please? Regards
  20. Just a bump the event is tomorrow. Regards
