  1. The red band on the RUB appears to be the right thickness. Due for release this week, I believe. Last page of this new edition of "The Globe":- https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1017/3257/files/Globe_225_low_res.pdf?1046878443220940126
  2. Unlike many of the other HAAs, Arran's photos show the HAA Carkind in the left hand black rectangle but with the right hand black rectangle still in place which usually carried the HAA marking. There is a telltale vertical dirt mark above this blank rectangle where the wagon might have been gripped by some sort of wagon moving device at the loading point, and which might have rubbed off the original HAA markings over time. Did they previously have HAA in the now blank rectangle? Or am I reading too much into this? The Railtec transfer sheet includes both versions. http://www.railtec-models.com/img/2mm_6472-1.jpg
  3. I am struggling to understand this one. So what is it in October and November which stops people spending their money on trains?
  4. Hattons price is 15% off the 2013 RRP when first announced. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/75838-djmodels-announce-new-models-in-n-oo-and-o/?p=1151117
  5. I was at the Gulliver's Gate model world in New York last week, which has working aerial fights between Samuarai warriors, so there might be some potential there for a working Quidditch game. But then it is technologically advanced exhibition with jet planes landing and taking off, a miniature Niagara Falls with tumbling water and rainbows in the spray, and a working model of the Panama Canal locks. Just think about Hamburg's Miniatur Wunderland to get the picture.
  6. A bit limited, and not sure if the double deckers were kept at Faversham:- 3 to/from Canterbury - Canterbury based Guy Arab/Park Royal double deckers in the FFN3xx series (LBC kit PRV29) 37/38 to/from Whitstable/Herne Bay - Herne Bay based - single deck Dennis Lancet/Park Royal buses CFNxxx and CJG99x (LBC kit DPR1), AEC Reliance/Weymann single deck buses LJGxxx (Paragon body kit PB06) I'll see if I can find the blind layouts for you for the double decker. The single decks just showed a single line for the ultimate destination.
  7. No need to guess at exchange rates. Plenty of online sources show how the pound has fallen since mid-June 2016. http://fxtop.com/en/historical-exchange-rates.php?A=1&C1=GBP&C2=USD&DD1=01&MM1=06&YYYY1=2016&B=1&P=&I=1&DD2=31&MM2=08&YYYY2=2018&btnOK=Go%21
  8. For those interested in the current Chiltern Mainline trains, on the Dapol Digest site their MD Joel Bright has indicated that they intend to include the current slam door train set in a future run of Mk3 coaches. The set currently operates between Marylebone and Bicester North, and has previously run to Banbury on a regular basis , with odd forays to the edges of the Chiltern network. The days of the real coaches are numbered because they will not have a power door conversion, or be equipped for the next phase of disabled passenger requirements. The DVT would almost certainly be unchanged, although the Chiltern ones have one van door on each side fitted with air flow grilles for the diesel powered auxiliary power unit used in conjunction with Chiltern trains.
  9. I think that Hornby magazine and Hornby Hobbies are unconnected, except for sharing the name. Reviews of Hornby products seem to be as objective as reviews of other makers products.
  10. Expressed interest for the third time. Hopefully 3rd time will be lucky. Confirmation email received.
  11. I do not think that a yellow end really makes a safety difference when the loco is coming towards an pedestrian observer with the headlights on. I prefer the original design. For someone approaching from the rear as a pedestrian the yellow end would not be more visible than bright red lights. Approaching at low speed in another loco to couple up I can't see the yellow end having a real safety impact whether showing red or white lights. Dapol’s rendition of the colour breaks looks spot on. They have said on the Dapol digest that they use train operators’ colour references, though they can sometimes make the model look too dark and might need tweaking a bit.
  12. Plenty of camping/caravan sites next to the railway. Just south of Berwick-on-Tweed on the ECML, And along the South Devon coast come to mind. The RailNscale Renault Traffic camper looks good. I thought it had potential as an ambulance too, with the raised roofline.
  13. A few seconds of the Ford locomotive in action at 7.20 in this video:-
  14. Although everything is working on my iPad without having to login each time, the design of the site appears to be intended for some alien race. Nothing about it is intuitive. The front page is more of an anonymous billboard than a way in to doing something useful. Have not looked at it on my desktop yet so I may have the login shenanigans to come.
  15. Arnold Facebook page is showing the cancellation of 10 new items due to the unexpected closure of their partner factory. The wagons appear to be hopper and tank wagons HN6388 - 6397. https://www.facebook.com/Arnold.Modelleisenbahnen/?hc_ref=ARS_GRkqSfyhx6klx08kiPywWueVlw1teW3rwlq2LZZo04fboM8xRwpfNiaPdA523rc&fref=nf
  16. You will now have your work cut out if you will be making “fair” mention of every company with a presence on RMWeb (and in the wider model railway industry) with an overrun on their filing dates. I thought Companies House had a system of publishing a public notice when overdue accounts warranted action on their part, which I believe was the trigger in the case where there was a “song and dance”.
  17. I think that the revised prices give the model a real chance of getting enough support. When the expression of interest page goes live, those who are interested need to help promote the model face-to-face and through social media to get people’s attention.
  18. I seem to remember that the DJM invoice for the abortive Class 17 locomotive was a Paypal invoice. My refund certainly came from Paypal. Does that mean that the DJM invoice was in breach of section 3d?
  19. Any progress on a ballpark price for the down-specced version, please?
  20. Very few companies can afford to keep staff to respond to every uninvited email they receive. Often the best reply you can hope for is "Thank you for your interest which has been passed to the appropriate department". As Grahame wrote in Dapol's case they provide a place where you can pose your questions through the Dapol Digest. Others can comment on your message, and sometimes Dapol will reply if they have anything to say which is not commercially sensitive.
  21. To their credit after the sporty Focus they became more mundane with the other contemporary Fords - Ka, Fiesta, Puma which were satisfyingly bog standard.
  22. Good listing here:- https://www.matchbox.box.nl/ Use the "catalog" and then "Models by name" options.
  23. Oxford are on their seventh variation at the moment. Scope for adding rust to make them more authentic. https://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/search?q=sherpa*
  24. I live in a cul-de-sac with 8 houses. To my knowledge there are layouts in scales N to 0 in 5 out of the eight. The others are into car restoration, RC and making their own mountain bikes. Ages range from sub teens to old codgers like me.
  25. There were a few more post war but before ECW became suppliers to Bristol exclusively. In a short period between May and July 1948 ECW rebodied 20 East Kent TD4s and 4 TD5s from the 1936-1938 era, along with 25 Ribble TD5s from 1938. These were all lowbridge L27/28R so match the OOC Bristol K body. Little Bus Company is producing a resin kit of the TD4/5 versions in the near future. It is TD48L in this list. There is also a standard Bristol K lowbridge kit as well - K48L. http://www.little-bus.com/littlebus-news.html A similar body was also used on 25 ECW lowbridge Albion Venturer CX19 chassis for Red & White (17) and United Welsh (8) in 1948.
